After the swtor debacle, I was really hesitant to recommend another game to couple of my casual buds (they work a lot) that I've been gaming with since kids (20+ years geez) They've been looking at me funny since I told them to buy swtor... Like they lost a little respect for me :(
I waited till I had played 3 months (including CB) before I said "Yeah guys it's legit" One bought, one needs to upgrade his WoW era pc.

Several of my mates bought it and some will start playing soon. Most of us were quite impressed by the quality and atmosphere of TSW, especially because we tried AoC too at launch :) I try not to persuade people to buy anything but if someone asks an advice I can definitely suggest TSW as one of the best MMOs available atm. |

They wouldn't be my friends if I told them to buy....last time I ever tried to recruit anyone was for AOC ..once burned is enough |

I told a bunch to...4 ended up getting it and none got past the second week.. guess just not the game for them. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

Exactly the opposite. I told all my friends what a piece of shit the game was, and none of them bought it, especially after a few had tried the beta. In a world of sharp knives, you would be a spoon. |

Originally posted by Aerowyn Funny, it took me exactly 2 weeks of playing to write the game off. Was a great 13 days, but on that last day, I just started to lose interest and didn't see any viable in game goals worth playing/paying for. So I unsubbed. I truly thought the game would last me 2 months at the least, but it didn't, sadly. I got pretty far, too. All the way to the last zone, that one in Transylvania. Game just became too tedious to me and even trying to roll alts did nothing to reinvigorate me. At launch day I would have told some friends to get the game. Now, 2 -3 weeks later, nope. Of course, it might have something to do with playing GW2's last BWE near the end of my time in TSW and how I can't stop thinking about playing GW2. It's making every game I try right now seem like something from the NES days. |

Tecmo Super Bowl, Metal Gear, Rygar, Ninja Gaiden, The Legend of Zelda, and many, many more great games came from the old NES. That system was great back in the day! In a world of sharp knives, you would be a spoon. |

Apparently the GW2 players are not telling their freinds to buy TSW. I for one am shocked. |

Originally posted by Vladamyre Oh, I agree. But trying to play them today....yeah, no. I can't stand em. That's what I mean about current games, they all just feel "old" or "has been" compared to GW2. Guess that's just inevitable. Part of the aging process and evolution of games. |

If they play a few times per week, a bit on the weekend, have a family or life - yep definitely recommend.
If they play 8+ hours a day and all weekend on the same game and have no life other than their current game - no, the best recommendation for these people is therapy. |

I voted for the last option, not because I hate TSW or BC but it made me giggle. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by elocke It sounds like you played it similar to a WoW game, just rushing through from quest to quest. I've been playing it a little differently than I would most MMO's, normally I'd do the same thing but I don't see any reason to rush through this one, Transylvania will still be there when I'm ready. Like last night I was talking on General while I spent about 5 hours, with a few bouts of Polaris in-between, just camping Priest Island in Kingsmouth for green drops and runes so I could customize my gear. I didn't even notice the time go by, it was someone else on General that said I'd been there for 5 hours. The thing with Priest Island is the Hulks drop greens or runes every time, very rarely a blue as well. So now I have lots of customized gear, some decent weapons from the nearby Polaris and am just stepping foot into Savage Coast. I don't know, it just feels like I've achieved more than I would just jumping from quest to quest without bothering with the rest of the world. To the OP's question, I would have liked a 'sort of' in between the yes and the no. I've been trying to entice a friend of mine into playing by sending screenshots of the game to him. None of my friends have ever played an MMO, they seem to think it's not their type of gaming, but I swear they'd enjoy it as much as I do. If I could just tempt them in... |

My friends are capable of independent thought, so I've told them to try the game and make up their own minds. :) |

I did. One took the bait. However, I feel rather guilty at this point since I'm sort of on hiatus from it for now. I got to Blue Mountain, did some of Egypt but was feeling a tad burnt and to be honest as an RP'er the fact that I can't use /say, /emote or custom chat channels (though perhaps that's being fixed today in the patch) really put a damper on my enjoyment of the game. |

I'm one of those that listened to his friend. I tried the game and almost started to really like it, but the combat was starting to get too repettive. Sure there are different builds for different situations and mob types, but you still will almost hit your abilities in the same order most of the time becuase most of the mob pulls act the same. Sure, not much different than most mmos but that's why I don't play most other mmo's anymore. It's kinda of like the "been-there-done-that" type of situation. Anyways, like a few above me already said, I only lasted about two weeks. "If I offended you, you needed it" -Corey Taylor |
