Originally posted by bcbully I'm sure there is evidence of its "advanced graphics" somewhere, but it certainly didn't look very good to me. TERA looked much better, as does GW2. There was some nice fog effects in TSW, but other than that it looked pretty mediocre. EDIT: I just remembered that I had to disable DX11 during one of the beta events as it was causing instability. I never bothered to re-enable it, so that's probably why it didn't look as nice. |

Originally posted by Kensaiken0 I have really grown tired of posts like this on this website. I mean, seriously OP, what is the point of your post? Do you feel that maybe you are the only one who feels like this and need to find a social connection with others who feel like yourself? Stand by your convictions. If you don't like the game there is no need to find others who don't like it as well just to validate how you feel. There are plenty who don't like the game. Don't buy it, don't play it. Simple.

Originally posted by bcbully So can you tell me if TSW combat is better than AOC because it isn't. AOC>GW2>TSW TSW is M rated, of course theres blood. Now imagine if TSW was T rated? GW2 is T rated, there are limitations of what can do. And you're saying GW2 is not fast paced, has no glass cannon builds, hundred bladed frenzy warrior build that is brutal to newcomers? GW2 has aoe damage that targets multiple targets but so does TSW.GW2 does not have multi targeting, but you can play without tab targeting someone. If an enemy is standing there, you can throw a projectile and it'll hit him if you're aiming at the enemy's direction. I change my settings in the options - turning off the enemy red rings and dissabling auto targeting, while enabling free camera. I play by manually shooting/hitting opponents. I just face where the enemy and there I go. Wasting utilities/skills can turn the tide of the battle as well in GW2. I tried this, but I don't know about others. I was playing ranger, you can change projectary of arrows from shortbow and longbow. While holding right click, if you aim at the sky, the arrows will shoot up towards the sky, point down, it shots down at the ground. If you aim the camera 30 degree higher or lower it does the same. Why I think GW2 combat is better is not based on blood, animations, how brutal it is to newcomers, etc. To me [opinion] GW2 combat's fluidity is above TSW. Also, just to be clear, I NEVER said TSW isn't fast paced and your other examples from your post. I have high regards for TSW and GW2, but both of them not great enough for goty award.

Originally posted by Psychow I don´t think so, the market were very different when Wow released and normal gamers hadn´t even heard of MMOs. GW2 will be one out of 3 or 4 large games instead of the single huge one as Wow have been. I don´t really agree with what OP say except that GW2 is a stereotypical fantasy game though, I had the opposite feeling about Teras combat which I felt clunky due to the locked attack animations. |

Originally posted by Loke666 I agree with Loke666... for all the hype aregarding TERA's combat, it was very indeed very "clunky" and not as fluid as I've experienced in GW2. I would even say WOW's combat is better than TERA's. |

Originally posted by bcbully I disagree, I've seen your posts highly regarding TSW, but dismissve against any other mmo. [not all the time, but that's the pattern i see] graphically tera and aa looks better than tsw. graphically tsw is better than gw2. but you can't disregard gw2 probably has one of the best asthetics any game out there, although graphics is lacking. dreamworld engine is impressive built by funcom. In a few years, unreal engine 4 is going to be used and that's going to be even more impressive. can't say much about hero engine, when its an incomplete engine. |

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

I can't completely agree with you 100% but I do to some degree.
Combat: I do feel combat in GW2 is a bit lackluster. Its quite clunky feeling to play compared to what Tera was, about the level of TSW to me honestly (going off beta experience). It wasn't unplayable and I did have fun, but at the same time I didn't feel like I was in control that much. Knowing people didn't like Tera's combat (mostly due to it taking MORE skill giving penalties for you actions) there could of been ways to bridge the games up to be more consistant, making it so it wasn't so clunky feeling having more control over your character utilizing mouse control while giving some sort of 'action lock' of sorts. Nothing insane, but some way to make it so you can't twitch out of a skill right away and cause the animation to look iffy.
Graphics Graphic wise to me the game was alright, it wasn't awe expiring but it looked smooth for what it is. I'm the type of guy to not judge graphics but how it functioned as a whole together and GW2 didn't disapoint in that regard. No awards for graphics but no real jabs from me (Minus animation which I counted above in combat)
Setting and 'quests': You can say this exact same thing about the fantasy format with every other genre. They are all the same from one another, just fantasy tends to be done most and with good reason, its the one with the most potential to do well. As for the quests being done, it is (despite what people say) exactly the same quest system, just made to look less 'pick up and do' and more action and on the whim. I enjoy this concept though in the end we have to accept its just the same old method as we are use to for so long and truthfully, theres probably no way to ever change this without a 'rpg' game losing its appeal. How you do it can change but in the end it will contain many of the same elements. World events and quests will grow stale and lose appeal in the end. Conclusion: I agree somewhat with what you say but a lot of it is quite bias in terms of a hater side. There are good elements to the game and denying them won't change the fact they are there. Its not a bad game but not a golden gem people expected. I'll enjoy playing it but it won't end my desire to play other MMos as well, nor shift my focus away from my current big MMO love. |

Phenomenal detail, I agree.. but that is one ugly woman. no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Why doesn't anyone understand that some people like different things and get over the fact that something they find lame or poor is actually seen as brilliant and great by other people? Case and Point= Twilight films If you continue to make sweeping statements like you know what everyone everywhere thinks about a certain topic then I am going to shout at you. |

Originally posted by Garvon3 You know this is boggling. Leading guilds over my 13 year tenure of MMORPG's I have had to do a lot of hand holding. It seems gamers that blame the game for low player interaction are the same ones that sometimes pass through my guilds and whine "No one ever talks to me!"...after careful analysis it was common to find that they never tried interacting with anyone. They expected everyone else to always be the ones to initiate first contact. I've played every game on this list aside from UO and DF and half of them I never intereacted with anyone in...I don't blame the game though. I was a lone wolf in some of those games so it was my fault. GW2 you can interact in. They even provide chat channels. Some people might ignore you because they are in the steamroller mentaility. Some people might actually stop and talk with you. When things get really tough in an event (i.e. Fire Elemental in Metrica Province) people really get chatty.
If any game inspires an unsocialable atmosphere it is TSW...Lot's of cutscenes, solo only mission areas, and you still can't join as a group for Fu Sang. And then there is that unruly chat bug that took out all of our /say channels and bugs out any channels made in windows aside from the default one.

Originally posted by Lucrecia ^ Truth ^ Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but just about every single MMORPG has the same "system" for socialization. Text chat. There is nothing magical about one game that makes it easier to type your text chat in than another. Every single well populated MMORPG with a map wide channel always has a lively conversation going on in there. I've seriously never been in a game with a decent population where there is dead silence. If you don't think anyone talks in GW2...then you're just flat out wrong. Maybe someone didn't respond to your tell, maybe you were spamming /say with RP stuff and no one responded...but this does not mean that no one was socializing. I remember in BWE3, there was this big debate in Caledon Forest about whether Sylvari reproduced sexually or asexually. And when that ended, people started talking about other things. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

And no, people debating about elves in global chat does not count as "socializing". |

Originally posted by Loke666 I wouldn't mind if more MMOs started copying GW2. I mean, we're already stagnating, at least this would shift the stagnation towards a game that gets its core design correct. The big problem with everyone copying WoW is that it just wasn't a very well made game. It was built on the same flawed foundations that made EQ crumble. |

I for one don't give a funk nor a wagnell about "new" or "revolutionary" things. All I care about is enjoying myself in game and playing something that has me craving to log on. It's not one thing in a game that typically causes this feeling, but the game as a whole. And though I have not been drooling over gw2 like some here.. After playing the beta I can confirm that it left me wanting more. And not just because it was a beta.. I have played plenty of betas that have done the opposite and completely turned me Off. It was just the way the game made me feel in general. It was fun. And I don't care if the combat, quest, interface, or whatever, is recycled or taken from another game... I just care that the game makes me want to play. That alone is worth my money.
