Staff Writer Mike Jobbagy played Shot Online and today we release the MMORPG.com review of that game. Based on his playtime he scored the game 6.9 out of a possible 10. You can read the full review here. |

Thanks for the write up! It has peaked my interest.
Seems this would be a ok casual game. Wonder how long it takes to do 18 holes?

The irony of this game is while it appeals to the casual gamers, the rounds itself are a bit long. If you play a 4 person 18 hole round, it might go for at least a couple of hours. However, there is always options of 3/6/9/18, and a lot of people play 6 hole rounds, so you won't have to worry about time in that essence. Also, it's a fun game to play. With a great and friendly community as well. There was one part of his rating that I find really ridiculous. I don't know how you only gave the community score a 7. This is by far one of the best communities I have ever interacted with, and a lot of people agree with me. You can't find a better community than this game. |

Hi, I'm the author of the review. Everybody will have their opinion, and my experience with the community was good, bad, indifferent, and lacking. The problem with any free to play games is you will have an influx of people in there running around, not knowing what to do, yelling how the game sucks, give me ng's and more. I can't count the number of rounds I've played where after a few bad shots someone gets mad and leaves before it affects his handicap, or starts hitting putts with a driver, the wrong way, etc. There are a lot of nice and helpful people in the game as well. I've had many pleasant rounds where the conversation was good, people got along, and the golf was almost secondary. I would have given the community a little higher if the Shot Online Devs helped a little. The 'official' forums are a pretty sad sight, mostly people complaining of things, and nary any responses from Devs. Not to mention pretty hard to navigate, follow threads, or reply. The only community that exists is in game, and is limited to the people around you in whatever portion of the game your in at a particular moment. It's a fun little game if you like golf sims as I said in the review. I played it a bit before being asked to do the review, and I'll play it occasionally now that it's done as well. 18 holes with 4 people does take awhile, but 9 holes with 1 or 2 others isn't a bad way to spend some time. |

For the most part, yes. This is the North America server(s), the Koreans have their seperate server. I believe there are just the 2, Korea with 1, and everybody else on the other. There was an issue with Australia having to log in through a gaming website in Australia, but it still played on the NA server. And last I checked, the Aussies still spoke english........ mostly...... |

I don't agree with this review at all. 6.9? Roleplaying 4? How do you figure you can gauge RP on a non-rp game? and you give it a 4.. thats not even the average. I'm not a fanboi of this game and yes it does have its quirks and definately has its bad english but you're way off. I don't even play golf in RL or any other golf games for that matter. Level 17 does not constitute a knowledge of the game to review it. I don't know who asked you, but one would think SO would have provided you an atiquate character to play the higher courses. 21 You become amateur. 41 If you pass the bi-weekly test you become semi-pro. Pro and Honor Pro haven't even been reached yet. 9 holes with 1-2 people? Wrong. <game show buzzer> Thats a complete waste of time. If you dont have much time, play 6 with 4 people, don't bother going into a game with less unless you dont want to level. Each person has an added bonus of xp for their presence. No responses from the devs? Here's another point that shows me you don't know what you're talking about and shouldn't have review it. There are these things, they're called SO Masters. The people with the '?' above their head. If you have in game problems you can go thru them. They have direct contact with GMs. If you have a techincal issue there is a Direct Q&A board. There are so many things you missed. A lot of good points. But you managed to nail the negatives like the rest of the ground watchers. I apologize if this sounds like an all out razing, It's not ment to be. Although. I expect when I read a review on this site that it is spot on or close at least. In this case.. Stick to everquest 2 and less writing. I'll make sure to check the author of the review next time.

It's not a complete waste of time if you just want to be a casual player, get in a few holes and chat a bit. I agree for powerleveling 4 people is always better. But powerleveling in any game always has a different rulebook if you will. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I stand by my comments, and I thank you for yours. |
