I think it's a rather important thing to be aware of before investing time and money on a character, and that they chose to delete my post was pretty much the confirmation that I should stay away from this pile of fail.

They could have locked my post, but they chose to delete it, because they obviously have no good argument against it. Reason they gave was that my post was spam, so there's been others that have pointed it out as well.

This is the @sshole attitude of a gank community, that has been there ever since the game launched, mainly with forum moderators, but also in the concept of the game:  as a newbie you'll be more vulnurable for ganking if you join a clan, since any NPC cities will not defend anyone in clans that are at war. And the whole gank concept have been based on incredible amounts of grinding skills, which has nothing to do with playerskills.

 

I can't even begin to imagine what those hardcore grinders at launch must think about the whole thing, all their brainmelting grind was for nothing, cause when the new version of DarkFAIL launches, everyone have to start as a newbie.

Just glad I wasn't one of them.

Stay away from this game, cause these people don't understand very very basic customer service...

Luckily there are other sandbox games out there, but even a themepark game will do better than this one...

I remember back in the day when MUD's would do player-wipes .. there wasn't anything anyone could do but bitch and moan back then because the game was free for someones programming hobby.

But the players all pretty much knew each other either in game or not, so we would all start out equals again.

For a retail game though for which you pay for, this is a complete disaster to do a player-wipe.  What a nightmare, to have stayed up late some nights believing you could become more powerful, only to have it not matter.  Ugh.

If some higher ups were abusing the system, they should have been dealt with.  Doing a restart is very bad.  It only hurts players who don't have time to play (not powerful) :(

..And to get those players back.....zoinks!

Actually I think you are confused. AoE's are still manual aiming.

They will wipe or 2.0 will fail.

They upped the skill gains so people could max out faster and have some fun while waiting on 2.0

Have fun until 2.0 if you like the game as it currently is. Only the most selfish vets really believe that a clean slate isn't the best option. Obviously Aventurine won't cater to the opinions of a couple of thousand players (at best)

If you are out of the game for a while, you can still get your character back.  I had to do it a few times...not that my toon was worth getting back, other than keeping the name Pink Floyd =D

Now, as far as an eventual wipe that is concerning the OP, there is the faction that says there will be a wipe and everything will start fresh.  Then there's the side that says there won't be a wipe, it's a totally different game.  What I say is this:

Darkfall 2.0 started off being called Darkfall 2010.  It hasn't quite kept that named deadline, so who knows when it's actually going to be released...

AOEs as mentioned still require manual aiming, but they effect a big area.. what a suprise.. there is no auto target auto aiming in Darkfall..

As for the wipe yes its true, i guess since this post they have removed the cost of the client so you no longer need to buy the game just for around $10. Skill gains and loot drops have been inscreased a lot so it does not take lnog to max your character out..

I think most people who currently play Darkfall will no longer have an issue with a complete server wipe.

Yeah, it's so pity they will wipe your character you can build from zero to max in 2 weeks. It's gonna be such a huge loss so people will suicide because of it...

As for the wipe, most have no real problem with it so long as AV are not going to ram in another god forsaken long grind in 2.0 and so long as the transition to 2.0 is actually worth while.

True.

Who cares if they wipe, now that the grind is gone it's all about having some fun with DF's great core aspects. The game is far from perfect, but it's dirt cheap and, as the above poster points out: there's nothing else out there if you happen to like those core aspects.

 

 

I totally agree! I resubbed and having a blast. It's a great concept and with the new promotion deal, takes away much of the unneeded grind. DF1 was a lunar landing. DF2.0 is going to be the space station.

Thats why you should stay away from these game and company. They wipe their costumer. If they don't like the numbers they will wipe in future everytime with no respect to investment.

Game has been out since almost 3 years and there hasn't been any wipes, so stop raising paranoi. Right now you can max your character in few weeks and everyone is on even level, so who cares if there's wipe or not.

This was the fear back in 2010.  Back then tasos the dame spokesman stated quite clearly that there would be no wipes.  The community seems to disregard that statement however, using any excuse they can.

My guess is that since 2.0 might not even be called darkfall that this game will exist as is under a new publisher for some time.

Your character wont get wiped but you wont be playing 2.0 when it comes out unless you choose to...is my guess.

Predicting summer 2013 launch for 2.0, predicting winter 2015 before its where it should be at its 2013 launch.  Also rumor has it they were looking to exit greece, and if that happens tack on another year to the development time.

People have been stressing out and quitting because of the "wipe" since 2009 and well...where is this wipe?  i guess the current 20x skill gains wiped out peoples advantages, took away their years of macroing and cheating while at the same time punishing those who did it legit and felt a real accomplishment with their characters.

Given how long things take at AV...stressing a wipe is silly...especially considering how retardedly easy it is to skill up now.
