which of these two was more enjoyable/fun of the two and why?

As a rule, any PvP with three factions will be better than 2.

On topic: Vanilla WoW AV.

Off topic: GW2 World vs World.

I could go with Vanilla WoW's AV, because i never played Rift. Just saying

Vanilla AVs where EPIC! 4+ hour battles where great fun. Miss those days when you felt like you were part of a team that needed to work together. I wonder if those days are gone.

Having fun doesn't have much appeal when the average player just wants a 5 minute game to get his honor. The gear grind gets in the way of fun. Players often view fun as an obstacle in thier way of getting gear.

4 hours is nothing in the first version of AV, it often lasted for much longer.

Haven't played Rift's conquest. But in all honesty I think AV was a great instanced pvp battlezone. There were external advantages to be exploited such as the icedude and those elites that comes to fight on your side.

But in the other hand we also used our own creativity to push back the enemies. Everything counted, even intimidation.

I remember we stood at FrostWolf Graveyard and we knew they were comming. We organized and made a long line and waited for them. When they appeared they were obviously surprised by what they were seeing. When we charged them all together they started to run away :D

That was a funny and satisfying experience

Man I so hope you're right.

We sometimes forget it's us players who make the game, not the mechanics. The mechanics are nothing more than tools to help us make the game.

Nothing in RIFT is enjoyable or fun.

actually I enjoy Codex and BG from time to time. Port Scion is poor mans current version of AV which is also terrible now.

man, I keep saying this over on the offical forum. they need something kin to Old AV from Vanilla WoW.

I go from MMO to MMO, looking for this Old AV feeling again.

Just like I go from FPS to FPS looking for the Halo 1 & 2 feel on a PS3 (since my 360 was destroyed and dont want to get another).

Man if a developer would buckle down their ego and give us Old AV back, in some new MMO, I would be sooo Happy again. This is what I believe drove me away from WoW.

As AV got worst from patch design changes, my time and interest in the game also got worst and less.

AV was just too great, and its terrible how Blizzard keep saying NO to the idea of bringing it back.

WvW in GW2 is the closest thing I seen in a while to Old AV. its not quite Old AV, but damn its the next best thing. And I cant even stand the Boring PvE in GW2, but the WvW alone has my interest.


Developers reading this, you seriously need to take this major feature into consideration. Blizzard ignored it, but look at Anet. They gain tons of attention on this feature. This is why I want this feature in Rift as well. But most Rift players dont want this kind of thing, which is why the game will stagger sadly for such a great game and development.

the comments in this thread got me wanting to play MAG to take my mind off of Old AV warzone feel....

      WoW is simply light years better than Rift....Rift feels like a generic game that pasted and copied all its content from other MMOs......Yeah the 3 factions idea is great (can you imagine how much fun wows BGs would have been with a 3rd faction!) but the rest of the game leaves alot to be desired.
