Originally posted by RizelStar And thats your opinion, you're entitled to it, im going by what i see and seriously all i had to do for pve was sidestep while casting on my necro, it was like they just threw in a sidestep minigame to keep the combat a bit more interesting, i didnt get to try much pvp but got to try WvWvW i cant honestly say anything because one BWE and 2 hours of pvp wasnt enough time for me to find the right skill set for pvp being they just throw you in at lvl 80 with ALL SKILLS...people who played past BWE's had enough time to figure out the best skill sets so i got destroyed...so im clueless as what to say till i get more experience with the game....im buying it but the game is way over rated, which doesnt mean it's bad but....IMO tera combat was more interactive even if your gear carries you it gets much more intense, the only problem is the lack of content. |

I've only played Tera for a total of about 7 hours, so my assessment of the game isn't exactly fully fleshed out. I liked the combat, but GW2 has my personal favorite combat of any MMO I've played to date. As far as full twitch combat goes, I think even prefer something like Dragon Nest to Tera. |

Tera is garbage. The story is right out of pluto. The quests are generic and the only thing it thinks it offers that is unique is a dodge ability...which is not new. Basically the game from level 1 to endgame is junk and all you get at endgame is pvp with dodge. What a great game. |

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. I think gw2 combat is just fine and need's not a thing from tera. Infact I would say gw2 is just fine and need's not a thing from tera. |

i think i just puked in my own mouth tera's combat was painfully boring after about 5 minutes. im not saying gw2 is the model all games should build combat off of, but its better than tera. I do think the targeting style combat system has potential, but the devs need to do a better job of tailoring it to mouse and keyboard. Tera combat is just slow and cumbersome. LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. |

This is such a successful troll, lol.
On topic though, no, I do not think GW2 needs TERA's combat system. While TERA's system is quite good, the game is built around rooting, which necessitates borderline braindead enemy AI. Don't believe me? Aggro 5 mobs in TERA and then try to aggro 5 mobs in GW2. Then tell me which is more challenging. In addition, please tell me how balanced the classes are in TERA, atm. The combat and class system causes half the balancing problems. Compare slayer utlity to archers...compare priest utility to mystic. TERA's combat is an epic foundation from NCSoft that was cracked by BlueHole. I really hope EME can save it, but idk if battlegrounds are going to be enough. We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be. We’ve seen the population of the game steadily rising lately and we’re not going to sit on our butts and congratulate one another, we’re going to try and build on that momentum and make the game even better. -Colin johanson on GW2 |

Man the next person that says anything along the lines of "GW2 is aim > auto-attack to win" or "All you do is side step" should get banned for being the premise to idiocracy (great movie). If it was that easy, would people really complain about it? Or do these people think that they're super-intelligent because they figured out how to tab > auto-attack and/or side step? That might have worked in the level 1-4 zone, won't work in the level 10+ zones and you'll get bent over real quick in level 20+ zones.

How people can say that Terras combat is more active and better than the GW2 combat is really beyond me. When you play a warrior in Terra you just hack through things without targeting ever needed, when you play a Mystic all you do is turn towards the enemy ONCE, then keep using like skill 1, skill 2, dodge skill (mystic jumps back), skill 1, skill 2, mob dead, while the mob runs towards you and stays that way there till you killed them. Also the skills always root you so you can't move at all while using a skill which isn't a active combat in my opinion. Active combat is like it was made in GW2, you can: - move, hit, dodge (up to 2 times before recharge) - use the environment around you to avoid damage (going behind a huge rock or a tree so you won't get caught from projectile) - you can switch weapons on the fly In GW2 you can also have: - tons of variety to go with your class and its skills - more strategy involved in a fight (enemy dependant) - underwater battles with additional skills for more diversity Don't wanna even talk about PvP. The only thing I liked in Terra were the graphics partially, everything else was the same old approach I have seen in mmos for the last 12 years. |

Originally posted by rutaq You don't have to tab in GW2. You can however if you want to. With other words you can autolock a enemy by aiming OR tab if you wanna go that way. I'm mostly only turning towards the enemy I wanna aim and use my skills. Used tab maybe like 3 times max and that was 2 times in WvsWvsW and 1 time in a dynamic event in PvE. |
