Originally posted by bcbully Can't speak for Aerowyn, but a lot of the times when I see a teamm8 go down, I think 'I should help that guy out'. A lot of the time I even forget that I get credit for doing stuff like that. It's just too easy to not do it. Plus, I like it when strangers come up and revive me when I'm defeated, so it's kind of a golden rule type situation. You wanna help others out, because it's understood that they are probably going to help you out. The only time I've stopped ressing someone, was when I saw a guy so underlvled for an area that he kept getting 2-shot by the mobs. I ressed him twice, then got tired of doing so. |

Originally posted by colddog04 Everything is low-motion, being the asura the less afflicted, because being small the distances seem enourmous when you are covering them in the exact same time as any other, a charr or a 2m tall norn. Try also a very tall norn if you like slow motion :D
I would like a running speed to cross the world instead of taking those teleporters, ii would like a sprint when i have to flee for over aggro... i don't believe this is SciFi, tell me it can be made... |

What most people describe as "community" usually means their social network in the game. Because really, anyone they don't talk to is outside of their social network, so they wouldn't even know about them anyway. Now here's the thing, if there is a great "community" in my neighborhood, and then I move out of state. I may say, "this is terrible! There is no community here!" But the reality is that I just don't know anyone there yet because I just moved... This is beta. There hasn't really been enough time for a community to form in-game. When the game releases, find a guild that you like and join it. To your surprise, you will probably find that <gasp> the game does have a community! On the other hand, if you are using community to mean how strangers interact with one another...then I think GW2 has gone a long way to make a great "community." Whenever you see another player, you are completely encouraged to help them out, and I have been helped, and helped others tons of times already. Now when this happens, we typically just say thanks and then go our separate ways...but this is no different than reality. If I helped a stranger pick up something they dropped, we usually wouldn't go out to dinner afterwards. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

the area map chats are full on both servers ive played on the posters posting its not social are trolling period. Social is just like it is in the real world so stop the drama crap here. If you want to talk to someone or group with someone start a conversation and stop being lazy and coming to these boards to whine over it . If some people werent basement trolls that hardly get outside to smell the fresh air they would understand this. Most people are chatting and plenty are grouping , you obviously just want everyone to send you the invites and start a conversation. |

I saw almost zero chat, just a giant zerg mob moving from one heart to the next. |

Originally posted by Rohn See this right here is the reason I have no interest in GW2. I will prob stick with TERA for now having a blast grouping and playing in cntrl+z mode (no interface) I will prob play TSW before I do GW2. Yeah I will prob try it at some point simply because it's free. But I play an MMO for the social aspect and community interaction. I am so sick of modern day MMO's that are solo playable. Give me forced grouping with a challenge anyday over solo gameplay that even a one armed retard could play with ease. Fuck casual crap! Even though I am a casual player simply because I don't have the time to devote to gaming that I once had. Hell I used to run my own guilds back in the day but modern day mmo's really have no need for guilds anyways. Beats me why no one has ever tried to copy EQ2's guild mechanics as guilds in that game was awesome! |

Originally posted by Wrender People can say what they want from their experience but for me GW2 offers more chances and even ecourages people to team up more than any game I have ever played. The fact that trinity is gone means no reason not to have person x on your team to help out. You grab some people and have a blast none of this we can't do this without a healer so lets sit and spam chat for an hour. If you want to see this game as nothing but a zerg fest that's how you will see it but it's not even close to all this game has to offer. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Originally posted by Aerowyn From my experience, GW1 had a horrible community and GW2 seems to be going in that direction. I've found MMOs that are either b2p or f2p tend to go that way. The worst player bases for MMOs I've played is World of Tanks (love the game though) and GW. By contrast, pre-nge swg and more recently TSW both had/have a lot of great players. Hell, I would even say WoW's community is better than GW.

Originally posted by Mephster really depends what you consider a horrible community.. any PVP game will have it's share of asshats but thankfully this game has no ganking, no grieving, and no kill stealing. So what are those asshats going to do that will ruin your gaming experience? You get a good guild going and have a blast playing through PVE and PVP that's waht it's all about anyway. UO & SWG were designed around community, if you haven't played a game more centered around community than GW2, you didn't play those. Games designed around pusedo quest content will always lack in this department. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

Originally posted by Distopia I played SWG for awhile and in a way it was and wasn't.. Most people including myself spent a lot of time waiting in a long line to recieve an extremly OP buff then went out to complete missions. So many people were spread out so much in that game I really don't see how it's more community oriented aside from you bought most your stuff from player shops although most were houses people built and were not actually in the house. I enjoyed SWG a lot but don't see your point if you wouldn't mind elaborating I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. Originally posted by colddog04 There are tons of social features but players hardly make use of it. I remember before beta even started i shared my experince in Rift with a friend of mine who is huge GW2 fan and i told him how people h&adly interact with each other. I was repeatedly told that due to complex nature of DE's player will communicate more in GW2, something i have yet to see. Once again only because people are playing with eachother doesn't mean they are playing together. I am talkign about communication between players regardless of what social aspects are avilable in game. Rift too has everything GW2 has, dynamic rifts, dungeons, pvp..and yet it suffers from similar problems. |

Lots of strangers that I have been playing beside have been great at throwing me a helping hand, and vice versa. In my experience the community has been awesome.
