Do you remember last year when ArenaNet Team was talking about "players may be able to create own pvp servers" ? IMO be able to create PvP server is an great but provide a map editor or SDK will be awsome ! It will be like a sandbox ( GW2 game server will stay safe ) where moddler can create custom pvp map or a great success mod like Warcraft / Dota, Arma 2 / DayZ, Half-Life / Counter-Strike. |

It would be pretty cool if they let players build sPvP maps. Make sure to suggest it to ANet. |

I think you really misonderstood them, this is never going to happen Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

You misunderstood. They give players the option to create sPVP matches, like how you do it in FPS games. It's not like an Editor or an SDK Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums |

GW2 PvP server look like FPS server as Counter-Strike. So if GW2 go in the same direction of FPS game, they should provide an SDK or map editor. |

Originally posted by ulula Hehe you make a decent argument, and I think that ANet did mention something at some point about having at least customizable settings on their PvP servers. I would like to see map editors for sPvP at some point. I don't know if GW2's technical design makes that out of the question...but it would be cool. MMORPGs always seem to suffer from a lack of BG maps. SDK though....I don't think we'll see that. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

Originally posted by ulula I highly doubt it. The player will host rather then edit, although custom maps would be a neat feature. |

ArenaNet comercial objectif is to sell a maximun of GW2 box and Gems. With mod support GW2 can attracted many more players who would never buy to GW2. Go check arma 2 (release in 2009) sell on steam, i gess DayZ success is may be the origin renewed of interest. it is a WIN & WIN, Arenat sell GW2 Box and customer can play new content between two extension. |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus I think you misunderstood what he said. He knows we will get to make own servers, but he would appreciate a modding tool. But lets be real, not gonna happen in a MMO, GW2 could been the first to do this though. |

Originally posted by seridan This is most likely. It's sort of like creating your own lobby matches, like in RTS games. |

Many MMO publishers are totally against third party additions and/or mods. There are a few exceptoins. Blizzard's WOW is friendly to third party add-ons. Dayz and Perfect Word have private servers out there Areanet and NCSoft have taken pretty rigid stances against third party involvement with the game. Consumers may see preventing player created content and add-ons as greatly limiting the expansion of the value derived from the game. The consumer however also benefits from games closed to third party content and add-ons through better security. The tighter the publisher holds a games inner workings, the less likely it is to get hacked, which can ruin the game for all. So as the OP mentioned, ArenaNet is not likely to be licensing private servers or alllowing mods and add-ons. GW2, after 5 years of hype, turns out to be just another Asian end game cash shop grinder. Now that sales have dropped off, F2P can't be far off. |

modding tool is expensive and has to be planned. And quite frankly is not really needed, it is one of those "IT would be nice stuff" but it is not really needed and I doubt Arenanet will do it. |

Originally posted by Creslin321 Anet definitely talked about custom games, and I think part of that functionality is already in there. However what they are talking about is more along the lines of editing how many players per match, who can get into the match, changing how long the match lasts, etc. While I would love a map editor, I don't think it would happen. The reason for this is if you think about it, it would be waaayy too easy exploit. All someone would have to do is make a map in which all map control points where close to 1 teams spawn, and make the enemy's spawn really far off. If they already have a good system for dealing w/ sPvP win trading, then I might be wrong. However, that isn't something very easily solved. |

Originally posted by DeniZg Since most attacks have an AOE effect, this would make dynamic events and other PvE content impossible to complete, just because of friendly fire. The game is just not designed for that, it won't happen in my opinion. |

Originally posted by captainnl I was answering to a person talking about a server with FFA PvP rules. I guess you missed that detail, even though the quote is clearly displayed at the top of my post. |

Originally posted by silvermember ArenaNet use their own game engine ( like valve with source engine ) and their programming team has created many development tools. If they can intergrating several different tools into a single usable tool ( X in 1 ) for public then new map sPvP will comming or a new mod. it will be fun to see an Action Tower Defense mod for GW2 like orcs must die, WvW sieges weapon, a lot of traps and wawes of mobs rushing on the stairs
