So you're saying that those who didn't pay 60 dollars to bug test the game (most of the human race) arent allowed to criticize the game? The only people stable enough to judge GW2 are those who ponied up 60 bucks based on marketing hype? |

Originally posted by Garvon3 Well, I guess if one goes to the front page, to the topic of the 5 fastest to uninstal MMOs, I guess there might be some that fall for the hype. I, on the other hand, bought this game knowing exactly what I was getting into - the next step of Anet on removing the idiocies of the MMORPG genre. There are still a few left, but another big chunk was removed, and this time with a Persistent World. Currently playing: GW2 |

Garvon,
Anyone can complain about anything, anytime. It's having a realistic basis for the argument that's important, hence why playing it is good if you want to have an opinion that means something. There are a lot of people who have played from given keys and not from purchases. 3k keys from Nvidia where gone in less than an hour for example. Finally it's not media hype that's propelling it, it's from the fans. People have been waiting a long time for this game. I've seen a lot of banner ads sure but you think you've seen the marketing yet? Lol Dear developers, In my humble and inexperienced opinion if I can get through all the content you spent the last 5+ years working on within 6 months you have not done your work justice. Please give me, and everyone else, some tools to create our own content from what you have made so I can stay in your world and appreciate it longer than three weeks before I say "meh". It's a shame and I'd rather not do that to something you put so much of yourself in to. |

You payed for the beta of a game based on what marketing people told you. Marketing can, and often does, outright lie. Remember all the stuff that was supposed to be in Age of Conan? GW2 appears to have been more honest than most, but that doesn't change the fact that people bought in based on marketing. We know they're honest only AFTEr the fact. |

Originally posted by Garvon3 No. I bought the game based on game play footage. Anet having a good track record of doing what they said they would do helped - I had my trial with Anet by waiting 1 year before jumping into GW1. Compared to other games that move the super duper hyped mega important end game exclusively to instances, I'm fine. Currently playing: GW2 |

Why so much worry about what non-pre-purchase people think? Have you placed this game so high on a pedastal that the slightest complaint (either warranted or not) will topple it? If you enjoy the game, keep enjoying it. There's no need to keep yourself in suspense of reading complaints that you know will come. Let me say this bluntly: There are things wrong with this game, and there will always be things wrong with this game. It can still be a good game despite that. That applies to every game you've ever liked or ever will like. If you can't accept that people will point out those things, you shouldn't be on the forums. Ignorance truly is bliss in this case.

Garvon,
I know what marketing is. Saying every article about GW2 is marketing is just incorrect. Sure, interviews and articles directly created/influenced by NC or ANet would fall into this catagory but it's speculation at best as to thier involvement in third party articles. Anyways you skipped the main part of my point which was that it's fans that are excited for this game much more than any marketing hype could make it. Have fun in your game of choice though. Dear developers, In my humble and inexperienced opinion if I can get through all the content you spent the last 5+ years working on within 6 months you have not done your work justice. except for the instanced part. it doesn't spawn copies of the WvW maps for new groups. its just several large persistent areas. i think this is part of where the OP is coming from with the open world statement. you could remove the word instanced from your statement and just say "it is however open world pvp in a very big area." i doubt many would agree it is open world pvp by their definition but i'm still waiting on those who disagree to actually give a definition that excludes it. |
