ps. the old joke goes on... $ = € Currently playing: FTB Ultimate Waiting for: Wildstar, ArcheAge, Class4. Dead and Buried: GW2, SWTOR, Darkfall, AO, AC2, Vanguard, CoH/V, EnB, EVE, Neocron, FE, EQ, EQ2, DAoC, FFXI, SWG, WoW, and billions of eastern junks! |

Europe = 20% additional VAT (on average). Those prices differences don't surprise not shock me, it was to be expected.
Also, in the first answers, there's that guy saying: "Wow I wasn't expecting any more than $1 per 100 gems. That's rather disappointing... will be like $25 for a character transfer" He forgets a major point in his calculations... for those $25, you transfer all your characters at once. |

Considering most of the stuff bought with gems are character bound (par bank slots), i consider the prices quite hefty to say the least, but that's just my 2gems. Originally posted by Fusion I've been beyond care about the $ / € for years now because that has always been the case due to the different VAT systems (in EU VAT is always included in the purchase price as dictated by trade laws, NA it isn't) and was discussed to death on the forums of many a game over the years. That's also for example why many of us euros imported some media like lp/cd/dvd from NA and hoped they wouldn't be picked out at customs before the digital purchase era. |

Originally posted by Fusion None of them are required to play any part of the game though. I plan to max out my character slots immediately (to reserve names), and that's it. And remember, you can also convert in game gold to gems. |

All I've gotta say is... I wonder how many people will seriously try and 'pay 2 win' now? lol. Honestly, for the most part I found the prices to be pretty reasonable. At least for the things I want. Extra character slots aren't that expensive, neither are storage upgrades. I don't plan on server hopping, so I'm not too worried about that. |

In most MMOs, it costs between $15 and $20 for a SINGLE character. Here you pay $25 (or $28 or whatever the precise sum is), and you get all your characters transfered at once. If you have 5 character slots, that's $5.60 per char, and if you have all 8, it's... $3.50 per char. Not to mention you can just save in game gold and get the transfer of all your chars for free. |

Sub game = $14.99 per month, thats almost $180 a year I doubt I will ever spend more than $100 on GW2 over its lifetime unless they start selling "novelty" items. |

I don't see it as a problem really, there's still nothing in the shop that you have to have to play and enjoy the game.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |

I need the Cow Finisher to enjoy the game. |

Yep, Cow finisher is clearly a p2w item. I mean, how do you expect to win without a Cow finisher? It's ridiculous! |

Originally posted by rdrakken This is what it boils down to. Compare it to the alternative. I do not have a problem putting money down on a game, as long as it comes down to LESS than i would have been paying for a sub. if the cost comes to $3-6/month, I don't mind. Small price to pay to support a great idea, company, & game. |

Originally posted by The_Korrigan Oh for sure. Not saying it's not a fair deal, but it's still not one I'm really going to comment on, as I don't really intend on using it. And ya, it really remains to be seen what the exchange rate will be. Personally I'm okay with the prices atm. They aren't much different than other games are charging, even with a subscription fee. |

Originally posted by Naqaj There can be 5000 completely innocent cosmetic items on the cash shop, but it still doesn't change the fact that you can buy gold with $ ;). That's the only real issue I have with the CS. Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob? |

NOW if you would like those early on and have no in-game gold (for some reason) - but some gems and use them - shouldn't be too expensive (much less than 100$-180$ a year, like other sub-based MMOs) |
