1. EVE Online Unbeatable now, will stay unbeatable many years to come. True dynamic world build and ruled by players, like any future MMOs should be. 2. Secret World Amazing achivement from Funcom. Best theme-park MMORPG with characters and story that rivals many top RPGs. 3. World of Warcraft Great combat and classes. Challenging and creative raids. Competitive PvP. Fun to play. There is a reason it became so popular. 4. Age of Conan Funcom managed to turn this into great MMORPG with time. Graphics still top notch and quests are among the best. Also dont forget intense combat. 5. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Fresh ideas, great Diplomacy system, huge open world. Im not a big fan of dungeons here, but the game is explorer's heaven. The biggest drawback - non existant PvP.
I didnt count Guild Wars 2 since its not out yet. But I hope it will overcome WoW in my list and compete with TSW for second place. Honorable mentions - Lord of the Rings Online, Everquest 2, Blade & Soul, TERA

My personal top 5, not including unreleasehed ones are:
1. Asheron's Call - It was my first and is probably my most played game ever. 2. Guild Wars 1 - When I was into it, I was DEEP into it. 3. LOTRO - My bro and dad joined me for this and it was an amazing time while it lasted. 4. TSW - This game has given me that previously lost feeling of being kinda content when I sit, load up the launcher and know I can play it straight for a few hours. It's early days, I know, but just for that small feeling it deserves to be here. This may take the third spot if it keeps going well. 5. Anarchy Online - This was my massive 'hyped up for it' game and the launch was a mess. I went back to it when they released Shadowlands and I just loved it. The learning curve, the setting, the atmosphere.. all that stuff. If Funcom are good at one thing it's definately fresh and interesting skill systems (minus AoC).
Rift also deserves a mention at number 6.

I thought this was going to be one of those threads where everybody talks about the games they like. Instead, I read the OP and wanted to bang my head against a wall. TSW is doesn't even have an endgame that we know of. Age of Conan is garbage.. if it came out in 2003 it might be OK, but it's clunky. Go buy the expansion off a shelf and then try to install it? Doesn't work, does it? Just one example of failure. Warhammer is way, way overpriced... and GW2 isn't out yet.
I get a very real sense that the OP is a Funcom employee saying "If you think you'll love GW2, you'll really love TSW instead." Give me a break!

My Top 3 List: |

Hmm, my top 5 MMO's of all time... #1 - Star Wars Galaxies - Best crafting, best gathering, best player built city and sandbox feel and used to have an awesome class selection. #2 - Dark Age of Camelot - Best High Fantasy PvP ( RvR ) combat which never, ever.... EVER got old. That and a crap ton of different races and classes to choose from. #3 - Lord of the Ring Online - Best PvE, music and background ambience, story and questing of any MMO to date, F2P or otherwise. #4 - Eve Online - I actually hate this game because of the scamming and griefing, but it is one of the most in depth, complex MMO's ever produced. I've had quite a few hours sucked away in one sitting playing it. Just wish there wasn't an arse in every sector. #5 - World of Warcraft - This game gets my 5th spot simply because overall, it's probably the most complete game out there. Aside from a lacking open world PvP system and a immature community for the most part, it's still the King of the Hill for the time being. Currently Playing: LOTRO - SWTOR - PS2 - BF3 Waiting For: Camelot Unchained cause Mark Jacobs is a friggin genius. |

My five (in no particular order):
WoW (vanilla, BC and WotLK upto Ulduar. Cataclysm really killed the game for me) Anarchy Online (my first MMO :) Rift TSW (I know its new but I'm really really enjoying it right now) Fallen Earth
I can't comment on EQ, AC, DAoC etc since I didn't play MMOs back then due to lack of credit card (and there was no pre-paid cards back then).

Originally posted by UnleadedRev This entire list is a miss, unless GW2 is "the thing" when it releases. A correct list, in order, might be: 1) Everquest 2) World of Warcraft (pre-WOTLK) 3) Dark Age of Camelot 4) Ultima Online 5) Shadowbane Of course, most of the above games are past their prime. There'd be no takers among modern games on this list.

Warhammer AoR is a special case and it's going to be tough to put it in any list. It has evolved from an all around, a bit for everyone's game, to today's hardcore PvP/RvR game.
If you want a game where you don't have to PVE anymore and start to PvP (scenarios) RvR (lakes with the 1.4.0 campaign revamp) at level 1-5 and enjoy the brutality of what's going on then
1. Warhammer online AoR 2. don't care 3. don't care 4. don't care 5. don't care
There's no morality, fair fight, equally balanced numbers on both side, in warhammer. There's only the war left and today you're going to stomp while tomorrow you'll get stomped.
I'll also suggest to anyone that hasn't played warhammer since 1.4.0 (they finaly finished to fix the powergap in T4 since last patch) to avoid commenting on todays warhammer's game/gameplay. You wouldn't recognize it, except the still existing bugs and not working as intended.

1) Tabula Rasa. (I had to..I havent had so much fun in fps since that one) 2) World of Warcraft 3) Warhammer Online (The Trial had ruined the game basically.. so I wish they'd just make it f2p so the population would be more balanced once again.. ) 4) SWG. 5) Vanguard. |

people added TSW as 5 of the best mmo the game is not even one month live , lets see your opinion after 6 months of play i'm sure if the thread was in 2011 you would put SWTOR
1) The fourth Coming my very first mmo , had good memories 2) GW1 i know its not a real mmo , i still like it for the pvp 3) Atlantica Online the game would be awesome without the crap cash shop 4) LOTRO the lore and community was great 5) Wow i have to admit Wow has a lot of contents and changed the history of mmo , hate it or love it , you cant ignore this game

1. Everquest thru the first 3 exp packs- take EQ as it was then, harsh death penalty, corpse runs, trains and all, remake it with todays graphics and animations and I would play nothing else. 2. DAoC- RvR before they allowed cross realming and RP servers where names and ooc conversation was actually enforced, what a great game that was, redo the graphics and reverse some of the bad decisions and this one would be popular today IMO 3. Anarchy Online- deepest character progression of all MMos, started bad but turned into a gem, still play the F2P as a back up game 4. Rift- nice well made game, great devs 5. WoW- what can you say, its the best and the worst all wraped into one Godz of War I call Thee |

2. Mortal Online
3. SWG

I have probably just played 5 MMOs in total so im not in a position to make a personal list but I have to say that one of the best is for sure Anarchy Online. Sure, lots of people love to take a dump on this game but the total experience was awesome. What I think Funcom should have done was Anarchy Online 2 and not AoC or TSW, they had a wonderful concept going with AO and should have made an evolution of that rather than straying away from it. |

Originally posted by FredomSekerZ you dont get the point, fan boys from SWTOR claimed it was the best mmo they had blast bla bla bla and so far i dont see this game in any list, people keep playing this game but its dying so its funny people claim TSW one of the best mmo just after some days of play, the game is pretty new and buggy combat system very bad if you compare to TERA or GW2 , i still want to play this game but to claim its one of the best i dont think so that's why make a real opinion after some months of play
