Im Exactly the same.. I was crazy excited at launch and played the 1st 4 days non-stop. Roled 3 Toons... Now I dip in and out and get bored in about 20min or so..Do not think I will be paying for this one. Think I miss the open world adventure of games past.. feel a bit sad really.

I've even re-subbed to SWTOR  ..omg why..

I havent quit.  Dont see it happening anytime soon either.

Still playing, still loving it.  Ive played every game since EQ1 came out and had pretty much given up on ever finding that same level of interest.  This is the only game Ive palyed in probably 10 years that makes me want to log in whenever I can again.

I am perfectly fine with the 7+7.  Honestly thats 14 skills, which is pobably more that I ever use in a fight anyway, even when presented with 20+ skills to use.  With preset builds you can swap out on the fly between fights to adapt to different mobs.

I believe the questing system is the most robust out there, yes there are kill 10 of these/collect these mushroom like any other game.  Honestly if having kill/collect quests at all is the defining moment of make or break for a game, I should quit gaming altogether.  The best I can hope for currently, is that its cleverly disguised as it is here.  This game takes that and expands on it with investigation and other interesting twists on burned out classic quest types. Im not going to say its revolutionary or that its never been done, but its everything together that makes this system stand out.

If you havent been to at least Blue Mountain zone, you havent experienced the progression curve of the game.  Dont base opinions on Kingmouth, which is basically the starter zone.  Its meant to be easy and holds your hand without patronizing you.  The start of every new zone is humbling if you try to play it like you did at the end of the previous zone.  It forces you to rethink and shake it up regularly and I like that.

The state of the game announcment is really exciting and if they can deliver successfully on even 75% it will truly be an exciting year or more for gamers.

If its not for you, I wish you luck in your journey.  When everyone loved WoW, I couldnt bring myself to play it for more than a month at a time, which was usually after each expansion drop.  So I get it if you cant understand why we who do like the game can continue to play.  Good luck to you and hopefully someday they will come out with the right game for you, if you want to find me Ill be enjoying my time in TSW.  Peace out!

I made a post in CB about the limit of 7 skills, and the dev's reply was that they knew it was limiting but too difficult to balance with more skills.  Combat does get boring, and there's no question as to why.  Mobs of particular types always perform the same sequence of attacks, the same mobs appear many times through multiple zones, animations are oftentimes clunky and awkward, and the list goes on.  The saving grace of the game is that the missions and dungeons are very well done.  The skillwheel is also novel, and helps make combat much less tedious by allowing you to easily switch things up.  TSW would really benefit from allowing players to hot-swap skill builds (preferably one alternate in combat, and any number outside combat).  The devs worked hard, and tend to be genuinely good people.  I'll give them three months to improve the game, and then after that they have to compete for my money against GW2.

I quit because the game is full of bugs.  Game breaking bugs.

I've not heard of too many game-breaking bugs.  The vast majority of players - as you can read here and on pretty much ANY forums - are complimenting the game on its smooth launch and minimal issues.  It's definitely likely that SOME people have run into numerous bugs, for the vast majority of players this is not true.

Some quests are broken, this isn't a major issue but can be really annoying when they are multi-part quests where you spend a lot of time working on them only to get middle finger near end.

This is true.  Some quests are buggy.  For me, approximately 0.5% of quests was bugged.  To help others understand your experience, can you tell us how many total quests you did and how many total quests were bugged?

The skill system is only good for idiots IMO.  I'm sorry, but I've played around with it and it just isn't good.  Most skill combos don't work

Well...generally people that aren't idiots are able to find skill combos that DO work.  That's one of the advantages of being a non-idiot.

There are and always will be a select few builds that are just better than everything else.

Can you give 2 or 3 examples of the builds that you personally have encountered that fit this description?  I'm yet to see or hear of any such builds, but it seems like you have more experience.  Specifically, I'm looking for a good build for Hell Raised, but if you are talking about endgame builds, feel free to post those too.

Any game that allows all players to be all classes within a single character is going to be fail.

Fail in what regard?  EVE is one of the most successful MMOs in history - in all regards - and allows a player to be all classes on a single-character.  What games are you referring to that did this and failed?  I've played a whole lot of MMOs and have seen a ton of failed games that had character classes yet still failed.

The simple fact that you have to level up a character and you're limited to that class makes a big difference in games like wow.  Someone might level a Warlock for example, they might not be best dps in the game but they will continue to play it just because they invested all that time leveling.  In TSW, people will just respec to whatever the Flavor of the Month is over and over.

You can't just respec.  After you finish leveling your TSW equivalent of "warlock", you need to level your TSW equivalent of "Paladin" in order to be able to play that build - you CANNOT simply respec your "warlock" skills to become "paladin" skills, you need to level those separately.  This isn't really any different from leveling a Warlock in a class-based game getting them all geared out and then when you're done, leveling a Paladin, getting them geared out, etc.  The main difference is that you don't need to log out and switch characters.

Also, there is no reason to continue playing.  No end goal.  No progression to work towards.

What kind of progression do you have in other MMOs?  It's pretty much the same thing.. you get through the entire story, you max out your characters level, then you work on improving your gear, then you work on defeating the hardest possible content, then you make an alt and work on doing it all as a different role.  TSW has all of this.  Not much in terms of raids atm, but those are coming.

Quests are all pretty standard kill X, loot X, click X.

Yep, kill X, loot X, click X, escort X, follow X, find X, discover X, learn latin,  decipher morse code, learn about classical music, do internet research, visit a library, pretty standard... if you've played TSW before.  Can you provide an example of another game that has quests similar to TSW investigation quests? Or TSW sabotage quests - because honestly, i love these and if these are "Standard" in the other games you play, i'd like to play those same games, so let me know.

Combat is pretty boring.  Nuke nuke nuke till stuff dies.  Very few things to react to.  I never find myself trying to interrupt skills or use buffs to avoid damage.  Just no real reason to.

You must be using one of those over-powered builds you mentioned.  Because, on pretty much every single boss fight in the game, i - and anyone else of any of the hundreds of players i've teamed with - died pretty quickly if they didn't react to things in combat.  Anyone that just stands there nuking survives maybe 1 out of 5 or 6 encounters in any of the dungeons after Polaris.  (Although even in Polaris, i'd love to know how you survived the last boss without reacting to anything.)  Can you post a video of yourself - or pretty much anyone else that you can find on youtube - that is fighting a TSW boss and no one in the group is moving?  Because honestly, i call total bullshit on this - it sounds like you either didn't play the game at all or didn't fight anything of any difficulty, because pretty much every significant encounter in TSW requires reaction and coordination.  That is one of the highlights of its combat.

dSee above.  It sound to me like you either didn't play the game at all, or didn't pay attention.   There are tons of things that are wrong with TSW and that can be discovered through playing.  The stuff you've posted is so generic and not applicable to TSW that it comes across as though you just wanted bash the game for no real reason.

OP's definitely not wrong. I've gotta agree with him.

I hate to bring this up (cause I know it's taboo), but I feel like the game doesn't have enough counters. I think it needs to have more like what GW1 had in terms of skills, where the actual type of skills being used play a much larger part in strategy. So far I've only come across a couple mobs (at the very end of the game) that require a specific stat (ie you need weakness, or you can't have affliction, etc.) But that in & of itself is too simplistic.

Most builds are fairly similar in setup, with the main thing changing being what condition you base it around (affliction), and whether you decide to be more single target or AoE.

I would love to see more fights where things like 'burst' attacks were more effective, while 'strike' attacks where weaker, etc. As well as have more monsters that had things that required you to take advantage of specs like purge. That would go a long way to making the combat a lot more interesting & dynamic.

I will say, I've been sharing my friend's account, and he is already getting bored w/ the game. We've beaten the story in only a couple days, have completed most of the zones, and are basically doing nightmares / fusang atm. Another thing that's bugging me is the warzone Ques are sooooo long. The game has only been out 2 weeks, and it takes like 30-60 mins to get into a warzone, are you kidding me!?. This + pvp gear costing a ridiculous amount of black tokens, is frustrating as all hell. I don't get why they even have black tokens in the game, it's not encouraging more people to play warzones, that's for sure. As it stands, our character has waay too many white tokens, and will take another 50 years to get enough blacks to buy a decent setup. The grind is ridiculous.

34?  how did you reach that number?

Elementalists in Guild Wars 2 have 4 attunements, each attunement has different skills for each of their weapons, then you have utility skills, summonable weapons that change your skills, etc...

Have to say I'm really surprised that so many people are dropping TSW already. I played it a bit in the beta and am still interested in it but was hoping it'd go F2P at some point so I could play it post-release. Starting to sound like that may be the case.

Facepalm

Most players aren't quitting. There's always a certain amount of these with any mmorpg launch,a nd yes, TSW will reach point where content runs out too and will lose players. of course, it's a themepark

So, some random palyers are saying they're quitting and it's going to f2p? Ok, if you say so.

That still doesn't equal 34.  Break it down for me.  I count only 21-25 dpending on how many utilities you have unlocked.

Lol

Not sure where you get so many people are dropping TSW already from but okey dokey. Frankly the ones in this thread are the usual culprits if you've payed any attention to their posts over time.

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

That still doesn't equal 34.  Break it down for me.  I count only 21-25 dpending on how many utilities you have unlocked.

Edit: for some reason the offhand doesn't display.

lol choose an off hand weapon and it will.

It's even more if you count switching attunments with F1-4 right?

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

I'm not OP, I don't know what math they used. They may have counted downed skills, summoned weapons, underwater skills, etc.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_elementalist_skills

I got roughly that number by taking one weapon and adding the skills for each attunement, assuming each of the 3 utility skills was a weapon summon (so 15 skills total), and not counting any downed or underwater skills.

Playing TSW at the moment and this post just does not ring true . I wouldn't take what the OP has posted here with more than a pinch of salt. The post is rubbish and missrepresentative.

Should I elaborate , nah ..... The sharks that are here for no good reason have had more than enough of my time already....

Great game , based on the current crop of MMO offering this is one well worth a look even if you only get to play through all the content.

Yup.

I did choose the offhand lol. But whatever it doesn't matter the first 5 skills are irrelevent anyway.
