So, now when it's been so long since the awful reality appeared to us....the complete failure. What will the final nail in the coffin be?

I think the unknown at this point is Lucas Arts. I'm sure they get paid handsomely for the IP. If subscriber numbers fall below the profit threshold, who knows what EA will do. I guess fixing the game and pushing more box sales at the holiday season is possible, but I'm not sure I see them making that much effort. F2P conversion is another, and I think that a bit more likely. |

I feel it's going to be a mixture of games that will do SWTOR in for good. TSW is proving to actually be a pretty fun game, even though it has some the worst animations ever. And GW2 is looking good as well. WoW is WoW, we all know about WoW. Time will tell when SWTOR will go F2P. I know for sure it won't get canned, it will go F2P before that will ever happen. The final nail will be Lucas Arts. I'd put it at close to 80% chance to be the cause. EA is about 19% and the other 1% is a catch all.

Other. They will go Buy to Play and be around for the next 10 years. |

Nah, Lucas will keep it running forever or as long as he's making a few bucks. It probably won't get shut down for a good 8-10 years or until someone else convinces lucas to give them another shot at a SW MMO. |

I cked "other". Personaly, I'm betting on an NGE on this playerbase as well. Dickerson, et al did it before when he/they was in crises management mode and I'd be willing to bet that he'll do it again. Probably somewhere near that 500K sub mark that EA made the statement of, scared to death that he'll be out the door the same as the other 150-200 that already weren't allowed to pass security when subs droped to that "magic" number. |

The final nail for me was The Secret World. Switch my sub from SWTOR to TSW and not looking back. |

Final nail? Cant really see that. Pretty sure they are focusing on getting their money back and then who cares. It is a flop considering their intentions were to be a major player in the mmo space. But they will eventually break even and turn a tidy profit somewhere down the line. There are just too many mmos coming out and older ones getting updated. Good news is we all win. GW2, TSW, MoP, Rift expansion, dust514, PS2, Wildstar and thats just the big fish. Tons of smaller, indie devs taking legit strides into the genre. Themepark is not a sub genre, its an excuse. |

EA will kill it. They are after all the publisher who killed off Earth & Beyond not for being unprofitable, but for the ridiculous reason of it not being profitable enough. In other words, "Well, it's making 10 million but we want 20 million. Fuck the fanbase, shut it down and dissolve Westwood." At the very least SWTOR will go into maintenance mode for a few years before dying to keep Warhammer company. Hell, it pretty much is in maintenence mode already. Such a pity. |

Sadly this game is on it's way out, whether YOU like it, or I like it, it simply is. There is nothing to hold gamers onto. While I strongly promoted this game, I now regret it, because it is just one humungous catastrophe, one which cannot be described, only experienced. I feel bad for gamers, because this was their hope for a long term MMO. In the end, it was a shit grinder that keeps turning to pump out more shit. /sigh Want a nice understanding of life? Originally posted by Karteli ^ This sums up my relationship with SWTOR as well. I did love it but I did cancel my 2 accounts a few weeks back and they are about to lapse. I was really hopeful for this title but they failed the IP. To me this isn't a WoW clone but it wasn't really original either. Who makes a game touting "choices" that really mean nothing at all? I got to the point that I'd just picking the most obnoxious choices trying to goad my sith masters into actually trying to kill me but, alas, the situation reset every-other dialog like nothing ever happened - to force you back on the hard-coded destiny not of your choosing - pathetic! Played:EQ,AO,EQ2,WoW,EvE,War,FE,STO,DCUO,Rift,SWTOR |

MoP will most likely be the plug pulled on all games released this and last year. Pardon any spelling errors |

Look, unless the population drops to like 10k or less I think this game will stick around for a good 5 years. Just cuz they can. I mean 100k subs is still 100,000 x 14.99 = $$$ yet. So I don't think it'll be over so easily. It's probably already hit its peak tho' and that's kind of sad to see. Not that I liked the game, but the state of the MMO market and the inability for the game developers to really do anything about it. a yo ho ho |

EA will kill it on the grounds that it's better to take the PR hit and be done with it than have a lingering scent of failure surrounding them. |
