I am really atrracted to the story and adult theme of tsw and diffrent genre of ppl it might bring in to the mmo comminuity.. This game looks like a lot of fun ...But  am afraid that once you hit

level theres not really much to do...I guess I am suffering from swtor syndrome.

What do you think will Tsw in 3mnths keep its numbers for the population..

Really want to try this game but don't want to spend a 100hrs on a game tht dies again like swtor....

So if you have to guess will this game be a keeper for a long time ....or is it a fad until GW2 comes out.

not trolling for gw2 or any other mmo just want to get the feel of what ppl are thinking. Is this a awsome co-op mmo with a end in sight or a true mmo that will last at least a year with a heathy pop...

Basically i am playing TSW till GW2releases, to have a fun passtime during vacation. And fun it is. These 2 months will allow me to play my character through most of the content

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package)
Worst MMO experience : FF XIV
Currently playing : GW2

if you looking for a very long term commitment type game I wouldn't really look at themeparks but maybe that's just me.

So far TSW is a single player game to me much like SW:TOR was.  Granted it's a fun SPG but I just am not seeing the MMO part of this game yet.  Maybe once I get to QL10 things will change but until than I am holding off on longer term sub options.

Pretty much what i always keep saying. If you want a long term game, choose one with the mechanics for it.

I like TSW and GW2 alot, but they'll both see large pop drops a few months later. However OP, i don't believe either game will "die". I hate that word in mmos. TSW probably won't have millions of players, but will have it's core playerbase like GW2 and others. The question is, will Funcom keep dveloping the game as time goes? I'd say yes, but don't look to either for more then a few months of fun. But damm are they fun and worth it.

As far as co-op. Again, that's themeaprks for you nowadays.

Nicely said freedom as usual the voice of reason......My biggest compliant with mmos now a days is there not built to last..guess thats because I am old and used to mmos lasting 2-3years . Lately it seems if mmos last about 6mnths to 1year if lucky then you have 100k playing thts the supposely great aaa games.....I want someting that I can spend some time in really develop a sense of accomplishment.....Don't know if that makes sense but oh well..

I tested it for about 3 months. I was pretty bored of it by the end, but I have an attention span of a.........See? I'm already bored of this;)  Seriously though, everybody has to look at stuff like this in an individual way. One mans bored sh$%less is another mans "I'm having the time of my life!" My advice is hang back for a few months before buying it so you can see more opinions of what goes on in the endgame and how people feel about it. Unless, as mentioned above you want something to do until GW2 comes out, then I say you could do a lot worse than this game.

*Disclaimer* The following is my personal opinion.  I am not here to hurt your feelings or harm your sensibilities.  My opinion carries weight with only myself, it is not intended for use by others.

I don't believe this game is intended for long term subscription to be honest.  I truly believe that after the honeymoon period of about 3 months the population will dwindle considerably, as is the case with most themepark style games.  In many cases that tends to mean the game gets pushed under a rug somewhere and is considered a failure.  I think Funcom has an ace in the hole for this title tho.  I think that once that 3 month mark of population decline begins we'll start to see a slide towards free to play.  The game seems already built for and ready to accomodate the FTP model and I think the subscription thing is just a way of cashing in on the early waves of hype.  Truly a smart thing to be honest.

As it stands, in my opinion, the game isn't worth the subscription fee it asks for.  It's a themepark game relying heavily on story, in order to keep people paying and playing they'd need to do what no other MMO has been able to, and that's keep they're story going at the pace of the player.  I don't think this is something that's even possible right now, we pac-man up the pellets of content we're given as fast as we can, far faster than they can create them that's for sure.

What I see going down is GW2 will hit in late August, TSW will experience a decline in playing, but not paying customers.  I think the decline in paying customers will happen late September or early October, at which point most of the TSW content will have been devoured wholesale by the bulk of the community.  This is where I think things get smartly played on Funcoms end. I figure at this point, GW2 has been out long enough for the initial hype to wear down and TSW can come in with a FTP version, and also announce a paid DLC, adding hype back into their game and some more story for people to eat up.

Again, these are all just feelings I have, but honestly I'd put money on something very similar to this happening.

The only thing I state as absolute and undeniable fact is that tacos are great.

I am not playing the game but like many i believe TSW has 2 maybe at most 3 months of playability on one toon and likely little or no replayability at all other than to switch factions for PvP purposes..

I played in 3 open betas of TSW and it did exceed my expectations for a funcom game, i liked it..

GW2 on the otherhand has no subscription fee and a ton of replayability via rolling alts and rather dynamic adventuring not even mentioning the multiple types of kick arse PvP..

GW2 may be the most fully loaded mmo game to ever hit the market in vanilla form and well exceeded my expectations in the BWEs..

For now its all guess work about either game as being a viable longterm option..

Playing GW2..

Answer is... nobody knows for now.

The game is VERY fun and different from what we've seen before in many ways... but it's heavily story based, and as we know, story is finite, we have no idea how the game will be once it's over. What we know of end game so far is PvP, dungeon running (8 dungeons in game, one on each zone, and each with a nightmare difficulty level) and grinding for world bosses, we'll see if it's worth staying for.

Thing is, they have said that they have 7 years worth of content planned and already working on, and based on Raqnar Thornquist's past games (the Longest Journey series), one thing he really knows how to do well is story, I guess it depends on how fast and how frequently they can keep updating to it.

What can men do against such reckless hate?

Yeah, i know i'm awesome

I'm not from the time of older mmos so i don't know what they're like, but i agree with you on the sense of accomplishement. I hate gear grinding, but i don't feel mmorpgs today offer that sense of large virtual worlds with long term goals and achivements and community. They feel more "gamey" than "worldy".

Who knows, maybe FC as some secret plans, like that Exodus they where talking about for endgame a few months from now, but really OP, it's very hard to rcomend TP's for long lasting appeal.

But, i'll say this. TSW is probably going to be the one game where i keep my eyes on updates. Simply because i think that whenever new content arrives, it's going to feel very unique and special because of the setting and lore. Like adding a new dungeon on the moon or Atlantis.

Neiher game really goes out of it's way to encourage social interaction long term.  Guilds are little more than a private chat channel in both games, neither has any real end game progressoin PVE content that would bond people together nor does PVP have any real stake ala EVE.

I'm all for solo friendly games but sooner or later devs have to realize that if you want to hold those players you need to find ways to get them to create social bonds in the game.  As much as I hate WoW it did a pretty good job at that at least in the begining.  These days even it is just coasting along on the momentum it created.

When did it become sacrilige to want to follow multiple games?  I must be one heck of a sinner in your eyes sir, as I keep pace with DCUO, SWTOR, GW2, WoW AND TSW.  You all best stay back lest my filth and corruption get on your purity!

Get over yourself sir, and anyone with an attitude of that nature.  People can like and dislike multiple things about multiple games and not be here just to hurt your personal feelings.  I like the concept of TSW, I won't pay for it tho, just not sub worthy to me.  Plenty that I like about GW2 as well, some things I don't.   When TSW throws a FTP version out there, I'll be playing it and loving it I'm positive of that.

We're gamers, my friend.  Not single title elitists.  Perhaps you are a Secret Worlder, but the bulk of us here on these forums, are gamers.  We do multiple things, play many games and are frankly allowed to form our own opinions and voice them.  Don't reply..  Nobody wants to hear it.

Last time I was in endgame was a half year ago in beta - haven't been lately, so I don't entirely know.

Though a dude I spoke with ingame, had grouped up, skipped all kind of cutscenes and done the very most effective way to gain gear and xp to reach the endgame as fast as possible. He had played for more than 100hrs, and still had 'PLENTY' (as he worded it) of stuff to do. Had completed the Elite dungeons, but was just started with the first few of the Nightmare dungeons, which were unbelievable tough (Example. You forget one interrupt = you lose tank). Also he had not even given a though to the Lairs, region bosses, and didn't even know anything about the World boss yet. So seems like there's quite a bit to do :)

He didn't care for Achievements, Lore or all that other stuff - played a little PVP though.

I see TSW going the way of SWTOR, but without the Star Wars fanatics to keep it going......I just don't see long term play here...... THe world isn't all that big and once you solve the quests theres no reason to roll an alt and do it again......I also think people will just go with a couple different builds and not max every single skill in every tree......I'll be interested to see where this game is in one year and I'm really not all that confident in it.
