Why is there no FFXIV option? How could the obvious winner of such a poll be absent? |

I voted - Other: LotRO That is still the most disappointing game to me. It had such potential and started off well, then it pissed that all away and flopped to F2P to grab more cash from their players. A lot of games had a weak start like STO or Aoc and have improved over time. Even though some on that list may have disapopinted at launch, they are better than they were even if they won't live up to their expected potential. LotRO took one of the most iconic IPs and just pissed it away. Whatever the mojo the original Turbine developers had with Asheron's Call is long gone. The other game on the list I might have voted for had I played it, and is clearly the leader, is TOR. Everything I saw about that game did not jive with how I remember Star Wars. If I had expectations and tried that game, then I would have been sorely disappointed. Overall, I don't usually have high expectations in a game. I just play what the game offers until I tire of it and move on. |

I voted for swtor, not because I hate it, or want it too fail, It just didn't feel all that starwars too me. I'm watching the site to see if the game can talk me back into playing, but nothing's really caught my eye between 1.2 and 1.3. I'm sure some people would love to tell me that an mmo can't launch with all sorts of bells and whistles, but swtor being bioware, and starwars I hoped for two different categories of things. Bioware- 1.decisions that matter(nothing matters, your story does not change, the world does not change, your companions don't even change 2. Compelling story(I'm not really fragging on this one, cause I get that the game is made for 13 and up, but it just seems like an even more kid friendly pg-13, hell, tcw cartoon seems more adult oriented lol 3. Basically all that stuff bioware became known for with Kotor, jade empire, dragon age, (and not the sequels they sold off the rights too), and the first mass effect. As far as starwars hopes, well I'm not going to explain them all, just list them(don't want to do a tl:dr) 1. No war in the stars(tunnel shooter bioware? go %%%% yourself) 2. No war anywhere in the game, pve or pvp 3. More mmo giant monsters, no battles between factions 4. No open world pvp(no reason to fight, how the hell did the peace treaty crumble? Hatred between the empire and republic over the last huttball tournament?) 5. The universe is full of different colored humans, no aliens of any form of interesting types what so ever. 6. You know what, just to keep it simple, theres really nothing that any other starwars game ever had(that was unique) in this game, it seems like the guidance lucas gave them was, it couldn't have been done in any other starwars game. 7. And a bunch more, but I'm flaming so I apologize and will quit.
Hopefully somewhere in the future, maybe in a couple years, TOR will have alot of starwars features in it cause I would love to play anything starwars. |

I was hugely disappointed by Star Wars: The Old Republic. I had high hopes for the game. Against all logic, I was hoping Bioware would still have "it", even after they joined the evil empire, EA. But the Sith have already taken over. Dragon Age still managed to slip through, even if just barely and in an already highly crippled way. Capitalisms ugly face, profit greed, killed the "successor" if you can even call DA2 that. And SW:TOR, the main reason why the leadership of Bioware apparently wanted to join with EA, was another victim. I was not at all disappointed by Age of Conan. It was exactly what the Wikipedia page described about it half a year before the release of the game. Thats why I never was interested in AoC in the first place. Then I talked with people who played AoC and to my suprised, they complained it was the game it was. They simply havent read a single halfway neutral article about it before playing. Like its Wikipedia page. Sadly other Wikipedia pages about games are in much worst state, though. I wasnt disappointed by Darkfall for the exact same reasons and again people complained for the game being what it was. Duh. What did you expect ? A game where its a good idea to run around naked, where you farm CON for months to be competitive in PvP, and where you learn the best skilltree and stick with that, so everyone plays a tankmage. If you had read the information about the game with your brain still intact, thats exactly the kind of game one would have expected. Frankly I have no clue why people think such a game would be a good idea in the first place, but meh. I was surprised how many people liked Aion. Personally I dont like a Lineage 2 with just 2 races, 8 classes, and engaged in RvR, no matter how much improved its graphics are. Still many people liked it in surprising amounts. Well, whatever, I never was interested. I had expected Warhammer Online to be a way better and more successful game. But again, I dont like RvR, and I certainly dont like what I see when I check out the WAR classes, so I myself was never contemplating playing that MMO myself. By the way, WoW is pretty muche same there. RvR. Ugly comic style graphics. Instancing all over the place. And so on and so forth. Thanks, but noooo thanks. I never was interested in TERA, The Secret World, or DC Universe, so meh. Seriously, playing Superheroes in a MMO ?!? Nah.

Oh by far, the most disappointing is SWTOR. I mean were not talking about a bad game, were talking about a game, that was "expected" to do very, very good....but then turned out to be an utter disaster. And that is SWTOR. When you have the IP of Star Wars, the supposed quality and genious of Bioware, and the financial backing from EA....you would expect...shit....this game is gonna be great! Well, when you attempt to copy EXACTLY the biggest mmo that is called World of Warcraft, which is the pinnacle of MMOs, and will NEVER be dethroned, only by itself or just by prolonged time that people will move on......well then you just set yourself up for disaster. And SWTOR launched with SOOOOOOOOOOO many missing BASIC features that ANY mmo should have at launch in 2011/12.....i mean cmon. What dumbass thought they can get away with that?!?! SWTOR will stand to all other companies of how NOT to make an MMO and hope to rival WOW. Did i have fun with SWTOR? Sure 1-50, the first time. By i dont play an MMO for just "story" and be done with it. I play an MMO for the long term...and SWTOR has one of THE worse endgame features in existance....which is basically no features and no incentives to really keep playing (there idea is to make you keep making alts so you dont play the end-game because they know its extremely limited).
Anyways yeah....SWTOR the most disappointing MMO in history considering what it had going for it. |

i voted for Warhammer cause its has a lovely lore and a huge background for units/characters etc, and they ruined all that just to make a WoW clone ... : /
also SwtoR was close, but even from betas you could see the fail ..! at Warhammer case i was young and couldnt judge well the betas ... after Aion i knew what to except from every MMO ...
sadly GW2 blown our mind away

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV. |

I picked other, which is FF14. I was a huge FF fan tell they took out fun minigames and free roam air and vehical travel. It's been a disapointment ever since FF10+ |

Voted Tera.
Eastern/Asian games should never be ported to the west, our gaming cultures are to diametrically opposed to ever make a Asian Grinder work in the US. |

I wanted SWTOR to be so much more than it is... I was hoping they'll fix things from SWG and improve the SW mmorpg game a lot, but instead they went few steps down and they made worse game than SWG :(... So seeing SWTOR for what it is when it was released was really a big dissapointment.. "Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life." ![]() |

We need another one of these with Final Fantasy instead of SWTOR, since it's clear who the winner is. Anybody else agree? |

Of all the mmo disappointments, SW:TOR comes top by far. It should have been so very much more than it was, without even considering the 'talent' and money chucked at it. |

I knew SWTOR was a little bit of a let down (well a lot for me) but 45% from over 600 votes....wow. |

For me it was Champions Online.
I've loved the IP for over 20 years now. The idea of a free-form open character build superhero game, with literally millions of combinations in the character ccreator, emphasizing fast paced combat in a setting with over 100 books of lore to draw upon seemed like a dream come true...
Nightmare is more like it. When all has been said and done, more will have been said than done. |

It was shocking how bad SWTOR was after the amount of money they spent on it combined with a reputable development team working on it. I was given a reference from one of the people I used to do arenas with in WoW, a long way back, and later on he apologized to both me and my brother no matter how many times we told him it was ok.
There were fundamental flaws with that game. PvP was at the heart of it for me. However, I was also part of raiding in SWTOR (just like I was in WoW) and the shockingly easy difficulty turned me off hard.
In the end, SWTOR was the most disappointing experience of my MMORPG experiences. EVE and WoW are by far my favorie MMORPGs of all time. For different reasons. But SWTOR was shockingly bad once I figured out how poor their game designers were through play. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

UO was a little before my time, EQ was great, WoW was good when it first launched, GW was good too.. every game since then has been a godawful disappointment imo. I voted for Aion though.. dunno why I expected it to be a good game in the first place. :\ |
