Tsw is good but not worthy of a 10/10.

It is not the best mmorpg of the year, but it is the most innovative daredevil game of the 2012, which will pave way for future mmorpg. IMO. In fact archeage has similiar skill system that tsw has.

The days of spec into pure healing, tanking, or dps is gone. HYbrid i where its at. Freeedom to choose how you play is the new hotness.

Based off the skill system? You still need to specialize and fit in the holy trinity to do any grouping.  All MMOs had hybrids or class changes for single player leveling and usually PvP, even world of warcraft. All MMOs gave utility spells, such as a DPS with a self heal or a tank with a self heal since everquest monk and pallys.

The skill system looks similar to GW1's.

Sorry, there is nothing innovative about the game.  I really like it, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table.  It just takes some features already present in other games and puts a new spin on them.  And with some of the features, they don't do a better job than other games.  Other features, however, are done very well and it is those features that set it apart.  For example, the storyline and acting/script are very well done.  However, combat and character customization looks a lot like Rift, with respect to mixing abilities and traits.

Not much new in the game, but it's still fun.

Tera is better in your opinion?

In my opinion, yeah, Tera's much more fun.  More innovative though?  Hell no..  I didn't like TSW, but I can still admit it does bring some new ideas to the genre.

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

This game now sits at second place right behind EVE Online in my "Best MMORPGs of all time" list.

Are we playing the same game?

You absolutely have to pick a typical trinity role to do any group content, I've found hybrid builds also seemed lackluster compared to building a specific role build.

Is it really freedom if you have to use certain builds just to get through the zones?

Please tell us the definition of innovative that you made up for yourself. How else would the rest of us know what it is?

^ THIS

I do like TSW a lot, but remember how in WoW certain classes had to use certain skills for certain bosses? How GW1 you got to pick from 100s of skills for your professions? How dungeons and zones have become a staple to MMOs? How TSW enemies look very much like enemies from the genre of the zone you are currently in (Kingsmouth just reminded me of Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill....with their disfigured enemies and zombies and such...)?

I will let others continue this list :) Innovative as in not a WoW-clone like MMOs have been the last few years? Yes. Innovative as video games in the last 20 years? NO. Still, its definitely a 7 or 8/10 game imo.

(PS....Anyone who played Deus Ex 1....is it hard for you to find yourself surprised by any of the plot in TSW, too? I still sometimes feel like that game ruined so many future games for me in certain respects xP )

Why not  try and add somethg innovative  in your post for example?

some ppl still can't dicide try it or not   and mainly because TSW fans  even  more crazy than GW2.  sadly posts even more rediculous most of the time :(

struggling for a week now to try TSW or renew RIFT sub.

Give some examples pls.   I agree 1-2 button fights innovative but not in a good way :)  For now i only can see TSW is like Path of Exile :)))   Same "complicated"  (for new player) skill tree (wheel if you like)  and at the end still  1 main ability which is doing all the job cos passives  are everythg.

lmao, just like TERA talk of TSW will simply die down in one month.

Spoken like someone who hasn't played the game for more than 10 minutes, if at all.  Oh well, I have plenty of room on my ignore list...

It's a decent game but "most innovative?" Let's not get too carried away here. It's WoW with a handful of quests you have to use your brain for. And yes, I do mean handful. Kingsmouth has 5, Savage Coast has 1 and Blue Mountain has 1.

Guess you never played SWG or Eve for that matter.

If you played SWG you sure don't remember much.  The skill system in SWG was more like Ultima Online then The Secret World.  In SWG you had to grind out the skills.  IF you decided down the road you no longer wanted to be a combat medic and wanted to be a fencer, you had to drop the skills and go grind out fencer.  You could not get "all" the skills and KEEP them.  TSW allows you to keep everything and change on the fly, meaning NEVER having to make alts for core game reasons.  People making alts now will only want to do it to see the storyline, not because their other character was built do do something else.

SWG people had alts because they wanted a jedi, combat medic, melee, tamer, and so on.  Because they didnt want to KEEP grinding everytime the changed something.  As the OP stated, that is an INNOVATIVE feature.

That is a constructive comment.  Continue on with your one liners...

eh..not sure what you mean by innovative.

if i were to throw out the dictionary definition and say it means "does less stuff everyone else is doing" i'd vote for Salem.
