http://www.townportal.dk/thoughts-on-diablo-3/ My thoughts on Diablo 3, how to make item hunting and legendaries somewhat more fun. Feel free to comment here. |

However, I don' t think that kind of concept of fun is in the spirit of the present design team. That's not to say this game can't be fun for certain gamers, because I know that it is.
It just seems that this game will appeal to a more min/maxer type who has a grim determination to beat a challenge. There is nothing wrong with that at all, and if that makes someone happy in a game then go for it.
But the kind of wild stats would require (I'm guessing) a lot of work the current team is not willing to put into it either because of time/budget constraints from above or because that's just not how they roll.
But if they went for these kinds of items, I would definitely consider it a good thing for D3. |

I don't think the fixes people are wating for are going to happen. The actual team behind D3 have created a different creature from D1 and D2 (probably because the majority of the D1 and D2 team left to make TL).
The game you know as D3 will remain as it is for the most part. Blizzard is like sony is/was. They no longer offer superior products and are selling games off thier name only. |

About the items, it isnt exactly hard to add "+10% Damage to Poison Dart Spell", as an extra affix rings can spawn with. And that is definately something extra for the Min/Maxer out there. I do have faith though, i am actually genuine amazed on how easy it seems to be for Blizzard to hotfix/nerf/buff stuff, just the fact they added Lyceum so easy in to the game, makes me wonder what more they can do without me even noticing. They are working on the legendaries atm, so i just hope they will add some spice to them, instead of just buffing the stats and dps. |

Originally posted by Sandman24 I'm thinking you're right based on what I've seen from Blizzard recently.
Did you know Bobby Kotick is director of the Coca-Cola Company? http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/dynamic/press_center/2012/02/board-elects-robert-a-kotick-as-director.html The man is just about business, now. He's not just about gaming. He's in a totally different league of elite interests.
In that company, he has a product based on an unchanging formula, which is known to sell. Other products under that label can be made and launched with various degrees of success. But he has one main "flagship" product -- Coca Cola. That's about as cheap to make as you can get and the profit margin must be huge -- the can or bottle costs more than the actual product it contains. Basically, I think this means Mr. Kotick has much bigger fish to fry than Acti-Blizz.
Gaming is a little different. I don't think it's quite as easy to depend on a fixed formula for success. WoW has been a good run and it's too soon to tell if it's coming to an end. Even that game has changed a lot since it was launched with it's original team. A bit of art and creativity might be needed in a game company. New products are expensive to make and people's tastes change. I think it would be hard to run a creative-entertainment business as easily as a product like Coke.
After the huge initial box sales, it seems like maybe the cracks are starting to show in Blizzard and D3 is the first or biggest one. Maybe they are just going to sell Blizzard off and they are just milking it for what they can get as quickly as possible. Who knows? But I don't think another Diablo game will ever do as well as the box sales on D3. I believe the Blizzard brand image has been permanently tarnished, if not definitely devalued (yet). |

Originally posted by JCBN They already have those sorts of affixes. They're just not very common and almost no one uses them. Originally posted by zymurgeist They are there... on a very few item types. Shoulders for example, have nothing of interest, other than stats. Add +1 Zombie Dogs, to said shoulder, and stuff gets alot more interesting. If ever single item location out there, could spawn with +10% Poison Dart damage, i guarentee people would look upon said affix. (replace poison dart with your favorite spell/skill) |

The game met my recycle bin last week. Worst arpg game I ever played. TL2 out yet ? |

Well, i am aware that some people dislike the game... i do not however. I have loads of fun... my blogpost is merely to try and put focus on some things that would make the game even more enjoyable for me... Again, i sincerely enjoy Diablo 3, and to me it seems the Developers are trying to make it better each day... I forgot to add, bring back rares into Chests (which they will). |

D3 has the worst itemization what I have ever seen in any arpg. Mainly because it's built around RMAH.
