But honestly I don't see that happening for quite a while. And seriously, a developer who attempted to cater to the tiny niche of oldschool MMORPGers would be the one who "doesn't get it". Whereas a developer who created a genuinely new game within the framework of a MMORPG would probably enjoy the same kind of crazy success as LoL -- by challenging the genre's preconceived notions (particularly the bittervets' notions) and plunging forward with good game design. |
