"So? GW2- "Hey WOW" WOWMOP- "Who are you again?" GW2- "The one who's going to beat you" *WOWMOP points to GW1, LOTRO, DDO, WAR, AOC, AION, RIFT, SWTOR, etc* GW2- *Gulp* "Run away" WOWMOP- "Yeah, that's what i figured" EDIT: WOWMOP- "Get off my lawn, you damm whippersnapper. Back in my day, we didn't have all this you new mmorgps have. Damm kids""
its funny because the only mmo you named that actually said they were making an mmo to try to "beat"wow was swtor.i guess its just another example of how many retards are in the wow community

Originally posted by Serelisk You wrote this as if the other mmos wheren't sucessful. LOTRO and DDO have shown great profit and are still updating with expansions. WAR, SWTOR and AOC, well, yeah, fair enough AION is the 2nd or 3rd biggest mmo in the planet, beyong WOW and maybe Lineage Finally, Rift was a full blown mmorpg (not a co-op game) made by Trion as their very first game, and 1 of the most polished. Also, while having less than 500k subs, it's been very sucessfull. Enough so, to have a full expansion 1 year after and finace 2 other mmos. All in 1 year. GW1 was, and is to this day, a very different game. B2P instead of P2P, co-op instead of mmo, and great pvp focus instead of pve. The exact oposite of normal mmorgps. Also, the game was launched 2005, with no competion beyong the already made WOW. Same happened in 2006. But in 2007, it was the first expansion that forced players to have the original game instead of stand alone. It was also the year of LOTRO and Vanguard, and possilbe AOC. Finally, "wow killer" doesn't exist, because you can't kill anoter game, just beat it. WOW beat EQ2, but not kill. And in case you missed the memo, Mike O'Brien believes GW2 will be a "wow killer/beater" Oh, and no. I'm not hating on GW1 since i think it's an awesome, originala nd unique game. |

If they postpone the game for another month after all the wait, fans will kill Mike O'Brien. Why do you think they never show a release date until now and always said when its rdy? |

I don't think GW2 needs to delay because of TSW. I don't really see TSW holding up with massive numbers in the long term. |

TSW and GW2 will have a small % of fans wanting to play both. I did a beta test for TSW and its crasp, vulgar and overly violent. Let the horror fans play their game and we will play our purdy game. If I wanted to see something as bad a TSW I would just turn on the news. |

I am interested in TSW but won't touch it until it goes F2P. I don't think that the two games have the same core audiences. GW2 is a pvp centric game. TSW is a pve centric game. This is ironic for me because I am a pve centric player. However, I am no fan of Funcom and have no problem waiting until TSW goes F2P. |

I absolutely don't care about people playing TSW... I'm actually not sure the OP is serious. GW2 releases 8.28. What people do in TSW is their own business (and their loss), I'll be playing GW2. Actually, the release will be spot on to grab those who will be already bored with TSW because they finished it's linear story line, just like people were bored with SW:TOR two month after its release. |

There is zero reason to postpone GW2 launch for any other MMO. TSW has no long term mechanics so it will very quickly lose subs just like SWTOR did because $15 is too much for waiting around for more content. So by the time GW2 launches people will be bored of or quitting TSW and if they are on the edge; GW2 releasing will help them decide since quitting with no new game to play is far harder than quitting for a new game to play. GW2 doesn't really even have to worry about pandaria. The people that want GW2 are mostly those that are flat out tired of the WoW model. Not to mention that GW2 is B2P so even if people swap to MoP, once they have finished it they can return with no subscription barrier to make them think twice. Depending how long it takes to finish all the content in GW2 will help determine MoP's impact. If people are already out of content by MoP's release they might got try it until GW2 has more content, but again no sub barrier to keep them away. |

Originally posted by Nefera You people should stop taking my posts out context. I said, and quote myself: Finally, "wow killer" doesn't exist, because you can't kill anoter game, just beat it. WOW beat EQ2, but not kill. And in case you missed the memo, Mike O'Brien believes GW2 will be a "wow killer/beater" And now, i'll take from that link too: "We're in it to win it this time,” said O’Brien. “We were number two to World of Warcraft with Guild Wars, now we want to beat them. We’ll be satisfied when the Guild Wars 2 is the most successful MMO" Nobody plain says "We're going to kill WOW". But this is probably the closest it can get. Whatever anyway. If i'm not mistaken, O'Brien left Blizzard and formed Anet. Now he thinks ihe's big enough to start talking stupid, and wants to beat is former company. Fortunaly, he doesn't reprsent the whole of ANet.

Guild Wars has no subscription. TSW does.
Therefore, Guild Wars can be bought and played whenever with no additional costs.
I don't see the point of this thread. GW2 will not be delayed any further. It will come out and it will be something people start with or get back into online gaming, something they play on top of another sub game, or leave their sub game to play something great and without an additional fees.
Let's stop with the pointless threads please. |
