TSW won't die once GW 2 releases. It has a good audience, example those who are tired of fantasy and those who love story orientated MMOs like SWTOR will most likely stay. It's a good game as well, I decided to play it till GW 2 but I'm sure it'll have longevity. GW 2 is fine as well lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Outside of that, it's pretty much clear. And regarding the future, it doesn't matter either. All mmos will suffer the "turist syndrome".

The trends I am seeing are that a number of people are playing TSW as a filler until GW2 comes out. Given also that GW2 has no sub fee, many people will probably keep playing both after GW2 launch (or whatever other MMO tickles their fancy). But yeah, I agree that GW2 is going to hurt TSW a lot more than the release of TSW is going to hurt the launch of GW2.

Yes, lets delay for secret world... Alternatively, Lets release at the same time and completely CRUSH any chance secret world has at a launch. Yeah, i think option two is best. Its going to be the same thing that happened with WoW/Vanguard: Same release, same awesome games and potential to become the biggest and best... Vanguard stumbled and fell on its face, never came back up for air. WoW went on to be the big boy. Secret world will possibly end up free to play within a year, and i eagerly look forward to that. Dont get me wrong, i LOVE secret world but cannot justify such a huge pricetag in this economical crisis, when for a mere 10 pound more i got guild wars 2 and wont have to pay a sub. Its a real shame, i enjoyed the questing, i enjoyed the story and i really love the atmosphere and puzzling...but not at that price. |

TSW does not even remotely represent a threat to GW2 as a matter of fact by august 25th many TSW players will be playing the GW2 3 day headstart.. Mists of pandaville will outsell everything but as everything actiblizz does these days will have a short burst followed by a loss in player retention.. MOP= 5 levels, 5 dungeons, a new tier of gear, rinse, repeat, yawn and quit 29 days later..

How many people have preordered TSW anyway? I've been watching many different livestreams of people playing TSW since the servers opened on 29th and the starter areas of the game (3 main citys and Kingsmouth) weren't really crowded. Kingsmouth looked empty to be honest. Combining this with the fact that the game has only around 10 servers (or dimensions, becouse its only one server, yes I know that) it looks like the population so far is really low compared to other "AAA MMOs" on release (yes I know it's early acces not release, but in reality it is release, anybody who wants to play can buy the game and start playing immidietly). This reminds me Tabula Rasa a little, not a good sign for the game if you ask me (And I really liked Tabula Rasa, I would play it today if the servers were still going on). |

Originally posted by VultureSkull Is this a joke? TSW didn't draw in many players so far, so that is a very poor launch. If GW2 decided to have an early head start releasing tommorow it would gank most TSW players. When GW2 releases in two months it will gank most remaining TSW players. There isn't much longevity or story in TSW, I blew through most of the 8 zones in closed beta at about 8-12 hours per zone to do it all, after the story the PvP and combat is enough to drive many away. |

Nah, no reason to postpone it. The only valid reason would be in case the game was not ready yet. They've been very careful about announcing the date, changing it randomly would only diminish the trust that fans put into their words. If they wanted to tiptoe around other possible releases, the time for that was before the announcement. Now it's too late - the cards are on the table. Plus, GW2 has a different sale model, so even if a game from a more famous franchise was suddenly to be released around the same time, in the worst case scenario that would only postpone a certain numer of GW2 sales by a few months. BTP + word of mouth allowed GW1 to be successful over time, I think the same will happen with GW2. The initial sales (prepurchase + first two monts of sales) will probably be made by loyal GW fans, and curious MMORPG veterans (IMO 1-2 million sales), but over the months/years that number should grow, since GW2 is a game with richer gameplay and fuller world than GW1, but it's still BTP. Word of mouth is a steadier type of advertisment than CG trailers, but it probably takes longer to build up. As long as the game is stable at release, in a few years it won't matter if GW2 launched a month later than this game, or two months earlier than that other game. GW2 has its own schedule to keep. |

Originally posted by VultureSkull Dude with all due respect, just because you like TSW why should GW2 cancel their release date. They are better placed to decide if their product is suitable for what it's meant for and I'm sure they have not taken the decision lightly about their release date so you should not concern your self either that's what they get paid for. So your poll is just a waste of space IMO and your are bordering on Trolling trying to incite negative/positive feed-back. Bandit |

Exactly, I bought the sunglasses from GW2's CS too. Although, I notice that the sunglasses show no attribute value and damaging increase, but when I wear it, I can beat every singleguys in WvWvW room. May be the coolness of my sunglasses can distract my enemy during the fight. And that's really awesome, what a great P2W. |

I see no reason for them to delay. I imagine many playing TSW are doing it to pass the time or plan on playing both anyways. I know I do. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

Because it wouldn't be possible for TSW players to purhcase GW2 in September if they so desire just because GW2 releases in August? |

With a small budget, minimal advertising/word of mouth, and an unknown company, GW1 sold a million copies in only 5 months way back in 2005 which was during WoW's rise to the throne. GW2 - "The one who's going to beat you" WOWMOP - *points to failed WoW killers* GW2 - "Ask me if I care." WOWMOP - "...Do you c-" GW2 - "NO!"
