Tho I'd be ok with any release date since I can't afford to be lazy 24/7 for 1 month at this time of my life :D "Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life." ![]() |

The anti-student stink up in here did rather catch me off guard, was running on an assumption that the geek/gamer community generally considers education a worthwhile endeavour. |

Since the "younger" crowd are dependent on real working adults to give them funds, they aren't really that important from a business aspect. Also, you haven't even started college yet and you're making judgments on bad business moves? [mod edit]
Let adults worry about who's going to be paying to play the games. [mod edit] |

Most college students I know are retarded and spend there loans on things that don't pertain to school, so I am sure there will be some that do that with GW2. GW2 is a game of skill not having the option to play 24/7 the first month will not cause you to be underpowered and get slughtered in the game. |

Originally posted by Xexv LMFAO that made me laugh irl, that timing couldnt come any better. Ya too many nerd ragers on these forums, to a point maybe i believe the OP when he said that there are unemployed losers lurking through the forums. I can say though that when i look at all the people who rant or complain about kids profiles tend to be in the late 30s-40s, odd |

Originally posted by Killerham So it IS in ther best interst to release after their breaks so they have less time to play and less likely to get bored with the game or run out of content. For alot of European countires the release is after summerbreak and JUST in the next vacation. Not to mention the people interested will buy the game regardless. Regardless the OP needs to get to terms the word does not revolve around him/her. |

I was talking about this from a business point of view. The truth of the matter is, more people would buy it if it conveniences them more at the time of release. Since it would inconveniance many (smart, grade-caring) students in the U.S at the time of release they are probably losing a bit of $$ there. Though I'm sure its a miniscule amount compared to the entire market they are hitting, they would have a better launch day in terms of income if they had only released a few weeks earlier.
But of course, from our standpoint the release during late august is probably better. We dont want a glitchy product ;) |

Clearly the original poster is not aware of the fact that the average age of gamers today is in the mid-30s. Most of us are well past our college days, dear. |

So the adults go to work, come home, play the game The students go to school, come home, play the game
I fail to see the issue. I had a ton of free time in college. It's not like you're studying all day/every day |

For me, this is the perfect time to release this game. It will be a few days after I get home from the seaside, and a whole month or so before school starts. I'm 18 and just enrolled at college, but I'm not worried at all. I can't understand how someone can't manage their time to do all they need and want to do... Ofc, I'm reffering to people who have the possibility to organize their time as they wish, and are not forced by some circumstances in life, not to be taken wrougfully here. |

To clear a few things up, the game releases world wide and the students in the US do not equal the majority of gamers and most likely never will. It's nice that you think you're special but one of the first things you will learn when you graduate is that you are not and the honest truth is that if everyone was then no one is... here's a nice commencement speech to put it in perspective.

With that said the numbers tend to show that most online gamers are 25-40 years of age (google it), I doubt many of them are still in high-school though some might be furthering their education via other means. So no you are not part of the majority and there is a good possiblity that Arena Net thought of that when it come to their release date because the simple fact is the majority that you claim will still buy the game even if it doesn't release when they want it to.
