Anyway looks like next try will be 7/3 :) and maybe some "animation" problems if they are really as bad as people are saying will be fixed.

GO Funcom finish your game.

Had the same problem but after disabling my Kaspersky anti-virus I could finish downloading. After that I just re-enabled anti-virus and TSW was working well.

Keep reading on gameplay being bad. TSW is a more advanced version of GW2 which is quite dumbed down compared to TSW. Don't see how people are saying GW2 gameplay is so great when they are both the same just GW2 is very generic.

Best MMO in 10yrs. That's all there is to say.

You're crazy as hell.

Graphically the game is up there with any of them. Now if you are talking animations then I'd agree with you.

I thought I would love this mmo, I love the horror genre. However, it just didn't draw me in. The animations are awful and  the combat is clunky. I tried all of the weapons in the test chamber and you could be nowhere near the hologram and still hit with melee. Which was why I chose ranged, (went blood magic), Ranged  was better, but I didn't really feel there was any real sense of impact with the ranged abilities,it felt disconnected. Another thing that bugged me was the dodge mechanic, it is really too short to be of any tactical significance, you can only dodge twice then it takes forever to fill the bar back up and during that time you can't dodge. It felt tacked on. The skill wheel is nice,it's neat that you can have so many  combinations to make some unique characters. However, this will be a nightmare to balance and that is unfortunate for pvp. I only played pvp briefly, so I won't comment on that, What I did  play was the capture point  warzone and no one was really in there, and the map was capped in it's entirety by the other team,so I it wasn't very fun. The map was big though, which made traveling kind of a pain. I hope they have, or they add, some vehicles like tanks or something that would be cool.

The story and puzzle quests were good, but the quests in between those are the same standard quests as any mmo, They need more of the puzzle quests, those were fun.  The story was good for an mmo, but  any hardcore horror fan would probably rate it on par with a bad Stephen King movie. The voice acting is very uneven  ranging from good(the cowboy you meet going into Kingsmouth) to bad ( the head agent at the Illuminati  headquarters) . The setting is nice, it is pretty atmospheric in places, but  in some places it gets a little sparse with the scenary. The exploration is pretty nill, nothing really invites you to explore  unless you have a quest there, I would like to have some really spooky places off the beaten path to explore.

It's unfortunate that this game is releasing so soon, it need more time in the oven. Right now it's mediocre, but if it had more time it could be great. It has some good ideas, but funcom either doesn't have the skills or the funding to make the game really shine.

I sincerely despise the term "hardcore gamer." It's such a silly elitist term that really holds very little meaning today.

Does it mean gaming is your own hobby?

Do you compete on a professional level in some games?

Have you made money from gaming at tournament levels?

Or does it just mean you have more hours in a given day to game than the average adult?

.. But in a good way.

Honestly i think "hardcore" gamers just have more time than average adults.  You know? The wage earning family guys that actually have to sacrifice sleep in order to have more than 2 hours of game time a night.

But enough of that... I'm not talking about single adult "children" or basement virgins.

The gameplay?  Hmm yes because WoW is so original.  The gameplay to my mind, with the active dodge and Area attack stuff is like a nice mix between between Tera and the other new next gen MMO's.  Tera was like sexual eye candy.  Skip the action combat and oogle.  Look at the boobies.  The sensual lines on the hips... etc etc.  Still the action combat was nice... but that's been done before: Vindictus and Dragon Nest come to mind... still it has a horrid quest system and terrible content in my opinion.

TSW?  The gameplay isn't horrible... I'm not sure what you mean by "feel"  you have a Force feedback mouse or something?  The fact of the matter is even with AoC I got tired of the constant beheadings, evisceration etc... to compare another game... Warhammer Space Marine 40k; ever play it?  It's an awesome game ... to a degree.  The slo mo back breaking critical hit chainsaw cinematronic scenes?  Lame.  There's no FLOW.  After a while... yawn.

I'll confess I like the game there is quite a bit of immersion and an almost visceral feel of darkness.  I'm in it for the story and the exploration.  I detest games like SWTOR and WoW to such an extreme now that i have a hard time playing either.  GW2?  Well... I considered it but then i remembered how much i disliked GW1.

I like PvP I like pitting my skills against other players.  I dislike "groups" of elitest players running around pwning battlegrounds like they're all boss and being "yo i'm hardcore i got mad skillz" no you don't have mad skillz you've just got a group of better players backing you up.  The one's that don't brag?  Those are the dudes that are good at what they do.  I've I can 1 on 1 someone in a BG and live?  Then i know the PvP is decent.  I don't like getting zerg swarmed as such.  This game though caters to all styles of play.  I think what a lot of "hardcore" people have a problem with is that there is no neon sign that says "Here is your FOTM spec."  The open and free form ability system intrigues the old school experienced players and seriously puts off the WoW kiddies.

My two cents on this.

I have to agree with Coranthe on this.  What gaming setup do you have that WoW, CoH, or other mmos gave you this "feeling"?  WoW was the worst in this department, so I'm just confused.   Combat in TSW felt more viceral and real imho than a lot of other mmos I have played.  Sure TSW is not perfect in this department, but once I got into this game and all the little pieces fell into place, TSW was just plain fun for me.  I was enjoying myself the 2nd beta weekend, but was not really sold on the game.  When I got into the 3rd weekend, everything the game does well just clickd with me and I started to have the most fun I have had in a long while in an mmo.  Perhaps being a "hardcore gamer" OP means your just a bit burnt out on the genera, or you simply play too much and have unreasonable expectations.  I don't see how the gameplay in this game is bad at all, but to each their own.  I hope OP that u find a game u can enjoy, but I just can't understand your problems with TSW.

I've been in TSW closed beta for a while, and after having the chance to test out GW2, I can see why people would feel TSW has less interesting combat.  There are certain mechanics (for better or worse) that appear in GW2 that do not appear in TSW:

GW2 allows stealth (I have not seen any such skill in TSW)

GW2 has clones/pets (although TSW does have some form of a "pet" to a lesser extent)

GW2's class mechanics layer on top of class skills (which doesn't really fit TSW since you have all skills open to you)

GW2 has all classes equipped with the capability to heal and rez

GW2 has all classes equipped with some form of cc/snare/root (this is very dependent upon your build in TSW)

GW2 allows access to at least 15 (5 (weapon 1) + 5 (weapon 2) + 1 (heal) + 3 (support) + 1 (elite)) whereas TSW only allows 7 (This is my personal biggest gripe with TSW; I feel they set their mind on 7 active skills and never looked back as to how inflexible it made combat feel.  Although, if they allowed hot-swapping builds that could help "tremendously" (not holding my breath on that one).)

TSW has a lot more mechanics behind the scene (passive skills interacting uniquely with strike attacks, fury attacks, chain attacks, impairs, afflictions, etc.)  Much of the magic to TSW is in their skillwheel, which is not so obviously apparent and can be easily overlooked.  (GW2 does have the unique combo system though, which is quite nice.)

The games are quite different after you spend enough time thoroughly playing them.  But, as many have mentioned before, TSW is being rushed out the door (it honestly does need some additional time for fixes), and this may drive a lot of people away after the first few months.  Additionally, the PvP is rather lackluster compared to GW2.  In GW2 there is a rather big emphasis on team play (both in PvE and PvP), but in TSW the only team play that exists (in PvP) is "healer heal PLZ!".  Also, the Fusang battleground is rather small for the large number of people allowed to play in it, which caters strongly to the zerg mentality.  Funcom will have to focus on these issues immediately after release, if it wants to retain players beyond the first few months.

I'm actually pretty positive they will focus on them too.  It appears they have a lot vested in this game.  Almost moreso than AoC from the feel of it.  I've played both of them now and there's a responsiveness from the Dev team in regards to bug fixes and such that I haven't seen in an mmo in quite some time.

There's still some minor issues but so far I haven't seen anything that majorly effected gameplay but you know the patch "domino" effect is what concerns me more.  No mmo's these days seem to release something that's polished off the bat.  I'm sorta concerned if when they attempt to fix the minor things post launch it'll break something big or something.  Also the PvP... I'm not sure how i feel about it... it's kinda cool but at the same time you get wiped out pretty quick and during the pvp beta I saw something i REALLY didn't like.  People advertising for premade groups with QL requirements.  This has the MAJOR potential to suck for the casuals that like to hop on for like 40 mins of PVP.

I've seen the pvp premade advertisements and also the wow-like instance advertisements (like LF QL5 tank etc.) These people won't last long, they were only beta testing. From those who will actually play it, most of them will play for only 1 month, finish the story and leave (thank God).  With GW2 being around the corner, TSW really has potential to create a better than average community.

Just wanted to say you need to try things out for yourself and decide what you like and don't like and what works for you.  Keep in mind this site has a very bad reputation for flaming games unfairly and opinions based on the egos of their posters.  Yes I post on here so I guess I would be part of the group too.  :)  That being said, if I listened to the majority on here:

I wouldn't have tried TSW during the last two weekends and experienced it for myself.  I found I liked the game and many of the opinions on here were completely different than mine. I also liked that I saw improvements from one weekend to the next helping make the game better.   I liked this game a lot.  I planned to pass on TSW based upon all the things I was hearing.  Sure glad I checked it out for myself.

This isn't the only game I've found differences on either.  Prior to that I decided to get  Mass Effect 3.   I had I played it and really liked it although I did find the ending a bit lacking.  Again I am glad I checked it out on my own and didnt listen to the masses on here.

Now sometimes I find that I do agree with the majority on here on certain games.  How do you know when the masses are right or not for you?  The simple fact is you don't.  As I said in the beginning try things out for yourself and see what you like.  If you like a game and play it, great who cares what everyone else thinks, your probably to busy having fun to care.

What are you talking about? Better graphics? TSW got the best graphics of all the mmos out atm. Dont know what kind of computer your running it on, or if you looked at some crappy youtube video.

Anyways gameplay is everything to a gamer, thats why I love this game atleast.

Maybe it's because of recent improvements, or because I was using a gamepad with my ability keys programmed to rumble, but the combat had a good enough "feel" for me. They are also still improving on it, so I think this will be a non-issue fairly soon.

Amen to this. Originally, when I was playing the beta on my older ATI gaming laptop, I might have agreed that the graphics were somewhat lackluster, but after switching over to my desktop with a new Nvidia 560 ti 448, the difference was like night and day! Even on the high settings alone, it looked incredible.

I think anyone that complains about the graphics just hasn't seen them on a system that can do them justice.

After a while... yawn.

Hardcore gamer means people that play the game for a team or play in tournaments like ESL etc etc.

And the gameplay feels like your fighting with less gravity and you actually don´t get the feeling when you hit the mob.

But like i said this is my opinion and i dislike a lot that.

Just to warn you guys this is my opinion as an hardcore gamer that likes to try all games.

The main idea of the game is quite good and the evolving  environment sound music is pretty awesome.

Doing quests gets interesting althought it also gets boring not all quests are interesting like the main ones.

The gameplay is really horrible for a game this big, coming out in 2012 with this horrible gameplay i have no idea what is wrong with Funcom.

PvP is fun but since the gameplay is horrible it will annoy you also if theres lots of people it will give you breaks of lag.

For me this game from 0 to 100 in SCORE i will give  a 60 if gameplay was good it would go to the 85/90 but its just horrible.

Because gameplay is everything to a gamer.

I am sad that they made a game this awesome with so much issues and horrible gameplay. Hope they will learn it and make a decent one in the future.

Im a big fan of Anarchy Online and i like AoC.

kind of a non descriptive opinion.. what about the gameplay do you dislike?

Doesnt really matter to be honest.  TSW is a wonderful game but I consider it a very niche title and is not for everyone.

I however love just about every thing about it yes even the combat because it is strategic.
