Hah.. She never once detracts from the stereotype. Well played, I think. |

"Pokket, keep writing :)
I just hope you still don't work at Walmart - do you?"
No, I moved on from working at WalMart just before I graduated college =) I work in the game industry now.
As for others: This is part 2 of last week's column. I will likely just keep continuing the column each week. I was building the backstory of the character, letting you see who the character is and what their life is, as well. That being said, I am still taking feedback into consideration.
Thanks for those who offered constructive criticism =) |

I don't wish to be purposefully argumentative, but I don't get why anyone would write something like this. Tales of a gamer? It has little content to do with gaming, it's more about forums than games. I'll bet everyone reading this can recount a more interresting or poignant gaming tale than this. Im sure there are vets who would speak of 48 hour gaming sessions, waking up with QWERTY imprinted on their forheads, failing university courses due to mmorpg's, how to remain at the keyboard for 12 hours straight (Tales of a Coke Bottle), 20 hour keep defenses in DAoC....this is just Gamer Lite, oldskool hardcore gamers smirk and shake their heads purposerfully but politely at the noob who overlooks what separates true gamers (no-lifers) from the mainstream gaming bunnies. Tales of a Gamer? No, this is not a gamers tale I would choose to read, again try asking the real gamers for some real gaming stories, plenty of amusing anecdotes to be shared and you'll wind up with a worthy article instead of this....well....dross :) |

Nice job Pokket. I haven't always agreed with everything you've written, but I've always liked it. Keep it up. If you can keep your muse alive through this nasty crowd you have great things in your future. |

In that case, if it's a backstory, maybe make it less diary-like and more story-like? You could keep the time's and whatnot, to make it like a 'day in the life of...", but possibly get more into story telling and less about mundane stuff. More creative! My only issue is that I have trouble relating to this life as you have told it. Regardless, just keep doing what you are doing...as long as you enjoy it!

I think I'm too old to get this "entertaining reading in the form of a diary" thing. It's not entertaining me. It seems a few people enjoy it though, so keep going with it and have fun! |

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. |

Originally posted by Pokket So I have to ask now that you brought it up. You said you work in the game industry. So what projects have you worked on, and what studios, what is your favorite language to code in. Just wondering, because I thought you worked for media coverage on the game industry. When I read I work in the game industry, I am thinking coder's, customer service reps and so on, and yes even media specialist.
