Yeah, well at least people who play STO and CO get a bone thrown to 'em then. Something to try and take away that sour taste of lifetime subscription regret?
Assuming NWN doesn't suck up a storm.. Advice: Don't buy the lifetime sub! |

I wouldn't buy a lifetime sub now but I thought it was the right thing to do back then. I bought it for CO just before release and I'm happy that I got my money's worth out of it. In fact, I got my money's worth before it went F2P and, with the monthly stipend (or whatever you want to call it), they're more or less paying me to play now... |

Originally posted by MMOGamer71 Sounds like a bit of sour grapes to me. Would it help you to know I have a lifetime sub to one of those games and will not be participating in the Neverwinter beta? I'm even worse than non-qualified, I'm non-participative! |

You'd be surprised at how many bugs you can get tracked down by tossing random monkeys at a piece of software. If you go out looking for specifically hardcore gamers or experienced beta testers and no one else, you're likely to miss a great deal of 'for granted' problems. Not that it matters though..because Cryptic (or PWE) aren't really known for their ability to listen to the players. There's STILL bugs in STO/CO that have been sitting in queue since release. I'm a lifer and reported a few hundred bugs during beta..most of them are still pending. They're just looking to get as many random people as possible to make sure it's at least partially playable..so that they can stick a shop in it and be good to go. Anyone that doesn't realize this yet hasn't played a Cryptic game..or they selectively remember. Not that I blame them..money is money. I still have moderate fun on their games..regardless. I'm not looking for lifechanging events...just boredom passing for a few hours. |

Sour grapes? LMAO. How about learning what Beta testing is for, but I guess when you view Beta as a free trial you get your response. [mod edit] I'm taking a shot of vodka every time I see a reference to a game being a WoW or Diablo clone. |

Cryptic = Nickel & Diming Company w/ poor game development.
There is a reason for these little offers. |

You couldn't pay me to test this game after playing their STO casino cash-grab. "Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever." - Noam Chomsky |

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising? |

Originally posted by TheOctagon Well, if it is any consolation, unless you truly want to 'test' an unfinished product, there isn't much of a benefit in being in the first stages of beta. Those people aren't having fun, they are slogging through bugs and performance issues and unfinished/unedited quest text, etc. until last stages of beta. And then, as soon as it gets to be entertaining, they delete your toon and the game goes live. Really, to have the earliest access to beta isn't a real selling point to me at all. |
