The real deal here is that this was their original entry price. The game was originally going to be $20 for the box with all this stuff. And it includes early access. I am sure it was Sony who pressured CCP to make the game F2P anyways.
Regardless of what everyone else here says, I am re-buying a PS3 just to play this game. Hopefully it will be just like a better version of my favorite PS3 shooter MAG.

True enough, it is sickening that yet another game dev company is trying to bribe preorders out of gamers with virtual items. However, I still think the bigger problem is the pay-to-win feature CCP added to the preorder list. There are plenty of cosmetic and non-skill or combat related features that can be added to a game without giving a player an advantage to gaining skills faster than someone with less income. A gamer's income should never be the defining factor in their winning or losing a match. |

whats so bad with this model? you dont have to buy the items in game if you dont want to, just use isk or get a corporation to sponsor you from EVE to get your items.. |

I'm confused half the people are ripping CCP a new a-hole for trolling for "pre-orders," while the other half is saying the game is F2P. Yep definitely confused. So... You pre-order the "boxed edition" and get a little swag-bag. I fail to see how this is so bad. It is how the market works these days and i am pretty sure they based this offer on some pretty serious market reserach.
People like swag, that is the simple meat of it and in a game that is free to play you need to drum up income somehow. And for all the gnashing of teeth it is a fairly cheap price (just look at the Mechwarrior: Online "funders" kit ) or is it that the beta is included in this that makes people tinkle their manties?
It is free to play.. you can just pick it up and try it for your self when it is released.
Well i am waiting for Planetside 2 so either way does not bother me, but the sooner this game is out the door they can get back to making WoD:O This have been a good conversation |

If it is remotely like EVE, it will be perfectly viable to acquire most of this stuff through gameplay except for the vanity gear. They're selling beta access like every other MMO around did, except they need a better excuse to charge an upfront value as the game will be F2P, which is why they slapped a lot of items in the package, as a bonus hoping to get people addicted to the consumables. Paying for beta access to a F2P game made me chuckle though. |

i just want to point out that F2P means there is no subscriptions but that does not mean the game is free, so charging 20 USD for beta is normal
