"If you can''t laugh at yourself there''s always someone around to show you how it''s done!" |
I have discovered that my WoW account has been hacked, I thought at first that the email I had got around 13:11 GMT was a phishing email but upon reading it further I realised it had a lot of sensitive info in it such as account name, server, character..... Seems someone had paid to move my main to another server, with a faction change combo. The odd thing is that game like all I play has a password unique to it, I never click on email links & the credit card is not any I posess. So I log into my account on the website & no transfer shows there, I log into the game & lo & behold my character has been moved, faction changed & robbed, I've raised a petition & changed the password & will now have to check what else this hacker has done. So, just a warning that it might be an idea to check your accounts, don't follow email links though. |

Did i get hacked today? No, because I don't play WoW anymore. But the 3 years that i did play, my account got hacked atleast once a year for all 3 years. I was in the same boat as you; i didn't give out my password, i didn't access any emails, i did nothing to get hacked on my end. Blizzard just sucks when it comes to security. |

Have had my account since 2004 & this is a first for me. I've seen a lot are getting hacked in Diablo III lately too. |

My account that I had not used in 3 years got hacked 2 weeks ago. Change the password. Don't care about what happened to my chars though.
It's amazing how easily they hack wow accounts. Ive never had a problem with any other game. I'm very secure about account names/passwords and never click dodgy links.

I was going to buy Diablo3 until I went to log into my battlenet account and found I was banned for selling my characters....which I didn't. I hadn't used the account since a week after Cataclysm. (2yrs) I guess sometime between then and now someone hacked the account and sold everything off or tried to. They said the account is now active again but they couldn't restore the characters. They can put it back to banned because I wont be buying Diablo3 or anything realtes to Blizz/battlenet. |

it'll be nice when people realize Blizzard is the ones "hacking" the accounts to sell those piece of crap authenticatiors, making them mandatory (oh you were hacked, sorry you didn't have one of THESE cuz then we'd be able to help you).
played wow for over 4 yrs. - hacked several times, on several computers, all clean (hell most of the hacks were after a complete computer change...brand new out f the box clean systems) -added authenticator -removed authenticator due to it's battery dying in under a year -customer service rep told me I'd regret removing it -hacked under an hour later, and over and over and over again.
14 years of playing mmos/muds/etc only ever had issues with account security with Blizzard
big SCREW YOU to Blizzard ever since. |

The sooner you can admit that the sooner you will know how to avoid getting your account hacked in WOW or any game that you play for that matter. |

I never share my passwords, I don't use a unique password for WoW, I don't change my password at all, I have played WoW since release and I kept getting hacked all the time!!! No, I am kiddin, I never got any of my Blizzard accounts hacked. Ever! But I keep my computer clean and I don't visit dodgy websites. I only hooked an autheticator about a month ago and I seriously doubt anyone will ever hack my account unless they hack Blizzard's database which I seriously doubt it will happen. |
