Here is my overall view on TSW's character creator, models and animations thing: Funcom removed my hot pink sunglasses from the character creator and they are not in any of the in-game stores. How the hell am I suppose to be fabulous now? Sure, I can rock a hot pink faux hawk but it's just not the same without a matching pair of shades. Shame on you, Funcom. Too bad the reddit AmA is over, I didn't get a chance to inquire about my shades.

A lot of them in that youtube look like coworkers or people on the street. Most people really are not that good looking. If they're going for realism then there ya go. |

There are so few options for the sole race they have it blows me away, World of warcraft came out forever ago and had more options and many of those options were smoking hot.

Aerowyn is correct in saying that we really do only have 2-3 options per slider without making the females look like grunts, and hence why we may see many of the same 2-3 clones (excluding hair) when the game goes live. The pictures posted by Panthien uses pretty much the same facial structures that I and Aerowyn used. We have 2 major subsections representing the head: I. Hair & Makeup We have 19 hairstyles. I would say about half of them range anywhere from looking decent to pretty good. We have 8 eyebrows. The problem here is that 5 of them look way way too thick. So we only have 2-3 good options here. We have 17 makeup templates. Several threads have been made on the official forums that most of them make us look like we are going out for Halloween. I only found 4 of them to look like something that one would actually put on, the rest pretty much look like Halloween stuff. They did get a developer response in that they are looking to add more options in the future... supposedly. II. Facial Traits We have 8 head options. I saw 2-3 good options here as well. The rest looked way too bulky. We have 7 eye options. There are a few subtle differences here. We have 7 nose options. Most of the noses look way too bulky, thick, and wide... others are pointed way too up as well. I saw 2-3 good options here as well. We have 7 lip options. We have a couple of options here. We have 7 jaw options. Again most of them look way too bulky, wide, or the chin being way too long and pointy. We are left again with 2-3 good options. Results: A couple of options do give us some freedom of choice like the hairstyles, but we have way too many "bottlenecks." Eyebrows has 2-3 good options, makeup templates have 3-4 good options, we have 2-3 good head options, 2-3 good nose options, and 2-3 jaw options. This is of course if you don't want the manly grunt with a nice chiseled chin look.

They obviously used a single model to make all their faces variant, at least from the video linked, not strange there is no variety, raising an eyebrow or widening the nose will not change the general structure of the head. It is as if you used the same cut to make all the clothes in game... |
