The lack of a release date does bother me. I know that it will come, but I had a real problem with opening the game up for sales but not saying when I'll be able to play.
I don't plan on playing at release, so my angst isn't to the degree that others may have, but none the less it still doesn't sit right with me. DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

Honestly the longer a game is in development the better. Soo..No. |

no offense to anyone involved but this is what i call analysis paralysis its what people do when they want something super bad and can't have it for the forseable future so they overspeculate. People are dying to play this game .....not having a fixed release date is either going to help build hype or have no effect. |

It's easy for us to b*tch and moan when something is released early but it isn't OUR money on the line as much as those investors. Developers usually are not the ones pushing the envelope. It's those who invested thousands to millions of dollars in the produce and expecting a return. Not easy to give up your money to something and sit back and wait. Try giving up that amount of money and let's see how paitient you are, heh. As for ArenaNet, of course they can show this 'integrity'...we've already paid for the darn game lol. So they have a cushion because of all the pre-purchasing that has taken place. So they don't have that huge burden I spoke of earlier because they gained some return on the investment. |

Y'all please let the release date thing go. I am perfectly willing to wait for a polished feature rich game. Plenty of things to do until then. |

Nope. It'll release when it's ready, and as much as I hate to have to keep waiting for it, to me it's the best deal in MMO gaming. Buy to play, I've already fully paid for it, everything else is optional and it has a huge variety and depth of content and features.
GW2 isn't just my cup of tea, it's the only kind of tea I want to drink anymore. Worth waiting for that kind of game, looking forward to the next BWE and (hopeful) release date announcement. MMO History: |

I personally think they opened the pre-orders too early in an attempt to catch some of the folks deciding between TSW and GW2. I bought both and am looking forward to both but a lot of folks might have limited resources as to how many games they can buy (I know this is a common comment in the various forums). If the pre-order pops up and they made the plunge for GW2 (or TSW) they might be inclined to wait it out rather than than go through the refund process
I don't think 'no date' is hurting them yet but I do think opening the sales up was a sales/marketing move. They hoped the Beta Weekends would be enough to fan the flames and hold folks interest even if it runs longer than hoped (by purchasers) until opening day. |

They can take all the time they like because its not like they are going to get more money. So many people have already prepaid for the game that they have their nut so its no rush to release. |

1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

The simple fact is it's been hanging around so long now when other games have come and gone that i've pretty much moved on to other things. If it was released in the next couple of months I might buy it (not going to happen I know) if the release is late 2012 then to be honest i'm not sure i give a damn about it any more. There is plenty more to do and play. I'm on the verge of just walking away from the boredom of waiting and watching the same old vids on YouTube.
Now would be a good time for me, walked away from ToR, can't be bothered with TSW after the beta weekend, let my Rift sub lapse... In four months time who knows what i'll be playing? It most likely won't be GW2.
When it finally is released it better be the best f***ing game ever.
Does anyone remember UOX? |

I dont think a release date matters at all. If they never had an official release date, but offered a pre-order (which they may have already) I'm sure they would get nearly a million sales. Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1. |

I didn't pre purchase knowing I really woouldn't be able to put time into the betas or anything but I do plan on playing the game. I don't think not having a release date has hurt them yet but I think they should give some light at the end of the tunnel for people. |

Maybe in the short-term. But the first game had a very similar problem. However once they actually did announce a release date they gained back most of the excitement they had lost. As others have also pointed out, it's summer time. Many people are actually finding out what daylight is. Once that's done w/ we will probably have a release date. |

I think the fact that there are at least three threads on this on page 1 shows it's an issue. |
