OK, I'm a hard bugger to please.. but after 40 mins in I know I won't be buying it in its current state.. It needs a lot more work before it is released. Top of my gripe list is bugs that I remember from Anarchy Online!! small lag = floating toons, silly thing that.. the feel of the toon isn't quite there, its no so much as lag as unresponsiveness. Worse still - the combat.. It feels like a 'less good' Left4Dead session, Story is early teens bad anime from the 90's. GFX are uninspiring and following Guild Wars 2 Beta weekend.... old fashioned and well.. a bit clunky. The Good.. its orignal, it breaks some new ground, but I worry when bugs I can recall from Anarchy Online apearing in a new title 11 years later!! More work to do Mr and Mrs Funcom, much more work to do. My Jaunt in the beta is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1vwd-vkk2Q&feature=plcp

You played for less than 1 hour. Really? I mean, really? OK, if players want to give impressions or "reviews" or "feeback" on these mmo's, maybe they should play them for an actually good amount of time to judge. And that goes for GW2 and all other mmo's too btw. |

I never knew all the intro's were the same regardless of faction other than the city location part and the slightly different cutscene characters. I played 4 hours as a Dragon character and just couldn't get in to it, just because someone doesn't like the game doesn't mean they are a fanboy of another game, its a beta weekend you are going to find people posting negative things about it, same thing happened with GW2 last weekend. ![]() |

I think its funny to watch the people that love these 2 games attack the others game, I am super pro GW2, so far its my dream game, but I'm still gonna try TSW at some point, I guess I just love games in general not just one.

Does the graphics engine change after the starter zone?

I had fun playing TSW yesterday. Enough that I am thinking about purchasing it now and I wasn't previously. I enjoyed GW2 more and have pre-purchased it but I still found TSW fun. |

Hahaha this is just getting a bit to much, I actually registered my account after reading this topic.
Why do people do this? They go out of their way to put a game down like this? Register for open beta, record 1 hour of playing the game, upload it only to bash it on a forum? What do you gain from putting it down like this? If you've already decided for yourself that you're not even gonna give it a chance, do you really have to put so much work into shitting all over it? There is nothing in it for you?
Or do you just want a pat on the back from someone else who copies everyone elses opinion about this game? "Combat is so clunky, clunkyclunkyclunky" is all I ever read....I've tried the open beta, and yeah I do like the game and I am going to try it, only because I know what a good developer Ragnar Tornquist really is, I've played his other games and they are good.
I understand that people don't want to play this, but come on...at least make up your own mind before you decide to record some crap and put it down, kids these days jesus christ...

I was able to play many hours yesterday. 1. Performance wasn't good enough for me. 2. Combat isn't fresh enough. Really old-school feeling and too repetitive. (Mouse button's assignments a little off for me) 3. Skill tree looks mighty, but so many skills are so alike and you can't cherry pick at any part of it, you have to get all skills behind the skill you want. Really surprised me that to get to the outer circle and I had to fill both inner circles. I was already to start dabbling in the outer to find out I couldn't unlock it, smacked square. I really like the presentation, story, how missions are laid out and non-combat quests are a nice deviation. This whole part was nice. I wouldn't spend $50 nor a sub, I will relook at this game later in it's life. 1. will be fixed, 2. could be and 3. will probably be tinkered with. And by the way, I haven't pre-purchased GW2 yet, I have my own beefs with it at this point to. That one though still has some oven time. I want a mmo, but I won't kid myself into liking one either. Perhaps I'm searching for something that will never happen.

Originally posted by Metza Heh, yeah, I'm like you, this MMO tribalism that some seem to be a fan of is so silly and ridiculous, but I guess some people are like that. Me, I love games, I love MMO's all kinds of, so I'm gonna play them both too next to some other MMO's |

Wow, TSW has plenty to gripe about but graphics are surely not one of them. The environmental artists are propably some of the top in the industry; it really is a very well done environment. The UI can be a bit cumbersome, despite them trying to make it unobtrusive. The combat gets rather boring, and its only saving grace is the skill wheel. Animations are a bit "odd", but it was a necessary sacrifice to keep combat always moving. My biggest gripe is that there is very much a been there done that quality of the game, and it eventually relies on you constantly repeating content to complete the skill wheel. Unfortunately, the game will likely hemmorage players after the first month or two (depending on when "you know who" is released). I don't think we can comment on PvP yet (maybe next open beta is when they will showcase it; they don't have much time)... |

BW3: My only gripe about graphics is the "style" of the character faces. Some look ok and some look horrible. Hair looks like it doesn't fit the head often. You don't notice a lot of that except in cutscenes. Options are low, but it's beta and you see more on npcs in game. Evirionments look good to great with the lighting and effects. Combat was good and bad. I didn't like the active dodge. I don't like the range of some of the weapons. A couple should fill the inbetween a little more than they do. At least that's how it felt. With the speed that mobs get on you, positioning felt pointless often unless it was to avoid the ground warning attacks. The puzzles are nice. Some leave you with a "doh!" feeling after. Others you wouldn't know without asking or googling. Some you can't see the way through except at a precise point and angle. Good feeling having to think now and then. The in game browser is nice, but worries me. Security wise. Is it a front end for your default browser or IE or stand alone. I didn't check plugin use. I know it lacks bookmarks. I also noticed it wasn't using the addons of my default browser. The difficulty level from Kingsmouth to Savage coast felt like quite a gap. Crafting needs work. Interface is clunky. Mats, in their various levels, take up a lot of space. Having to split to bag before dragging each to the interface felt cumbersome. Chat needs work. From their other products, I'm sure it'll get some love.
I liked a lot. I disliked a lot. Good to see something different. Just my opinion. |

Its nice to see all those, played for 40 minutes and know it all people that want to be taken serious.
In general for any MMO it takes me at least 100 hours to know what they are exactly about... Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

Well, logging nto gw2 for 5 minutes, take a look at the meny and say "NO; THIS SHIT SUCKS, game is horrible, combat is clunky" just because its a beta weekend sounds a bit silly to me. |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Actually... if one really does not like the game or have a problem with a CORE system... an hour is well and good enough. I did for an example played it for about 10-12 hours the last open beta weekend. But i disliked the animations for much it locked down the entire game for me. Had a look this weekedn and it was pretty much the same thing. That is not something that will change after 1-10-100 or 1000 hours.. (apart from the player "getting used to them" ) Same of you really do not like the story.
My prediction is that this game will end up in the same bin as SW:ToR but also have some pretty nasty balancing issues once people start tearing the skill system anew one. Either that or people are playing it up as a lot more open then it is. This have been a good conversation |

Ok the op at 30 minutes is the one end, you are the other. I have to play a game 100 hours to know what I like? I don't and I know almost everyone agrees and most likely you do as well. So you can take your 100 hours and go back home and try again. lol I can judge in a weekend what the game's general mechanics have shown me, those will be consistent from start to finish. I have also come to know there has never been a magic pill at the end of the game that took a poor game and made it pure exctasy. That is a leason most of the internet is still figuring out.

I can agree that some classes or builds or styles of gameplay can take awhile to get the full appreciation out of it. You might for example get a defining skill for a class at level 25, but until then maybe the class sucks a bit. This is not the case with TSW. I've played the game as it has improved. And it has it really has, but the core is still the same as my first few hours playing it. If you have played it for a few hours and didn't like it you aren't going to like it 100+ hours in. If it does take 100+ hours to learn to like it, then Funcon should give me 100 free playing hours. Why would I pay them for those 100 hours when i wasn't even enjoying myself? |
