Combat is ackward. It feels cluncky, it is slow, targeting is bad, running is bad, moving is bad. How come you can make a game like Conan with top notch controls and fight mecanics and end up with somehting like that. It is such a shame, this game is certainly not ready for launch. |

Yeah, animaton sucks. This game ( chars and animations ) looks like 10 years old game... the worst thing is i they not gonna to redesign it... devs never do that ... :( Really sad for me becuse i wanted to play this game but i cant stand the game if i dont feel my avatar... |

Originally posted by Holgrum true i highly doubt they will re-design it although a lot of animations have been updated/changed. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. TSW is a great idea and I do hope it does well as I do all games. But yes I have to agree, I also did not enjoy the feel of the combat or the sounds along with it. With the character models being great either :( Anyhow I'm sure it has some great story for the folks playing. |

what do you mean the controls are terrible? |

The movement is very 'plastic'. It looks like a bunch of my old GI Joe toys being animated on the screen. The look of the game is top notch, but the animation really needs some work. |

I prefer it to wow style combat.

I freaking LOVED Anarchy Online, which made me excited for this game. But after playing for a couple hours, I could not get into it either. I don't think it's terrible by any means, but there are other games which have similar gameplay, but do it better/smoother. TSW seems like it will really appeal to people who are into lore, and the whole secret society thing. I'm not personally, so I'll pass on this game purely based on how the gameplay feels. |

said the same thing earlier on another thread. Standing still with your back to the camera the game looks amazing but as soon as you move the entire illusion shatters. Animation, movement , combat, and character models models are all terrible. Even the original AoC engine animation/characters were much better. Shame too since I like the game world setting and the abilities/skills circle thingie much more than pre set skill trees of most games, but no way I can play the game as it is. It was just painful watching the animation and attempting to fight. It might improve after launch, but considering FC's past record I doubt it will be fixed anytime soon |

TSW has weird combat animations. Some of the dialogue sequences are also very awkward. Especially the male part. It's like watching Team America. Character design is decent. The anatomy of the fingers doesn't exist in this game^^. They look like flesh forks. And the characters.. they appeal to be lifeless. They have an empty expression like puppets. The random chatter are nice but the execution is bad. No interaction between the NPCs and the environment.
I wished TSW would be an adventure. So much potential. |

I found the more they'd let me customize and add as I leveled up the more I enjoyed it. Really all of the early animations / combat feels akward and I think it gives a feeling that you're not a bad ass just yet. You get into some of the higher sword or even shot gun abilities it feels quicker / more meaningful to hit enemies. It's not on par to many single player games I've played, but honestly there isn't any MMO I've played that can match Assassin's Creed or Max Payne 3. Even Guild Wars 2 feels stifled in contrast. a yo ho ho |

Originally posted by keinohr this actually does bother me a lot. They do such a great job making the zones atmosphere so good but really cut things short by not making it feel as alive as it could with the npcs. It was a huge complaint in swtor and it will follow here although it's not as bad as swtor by any means and the zones themselves are much more immersive. But for instance the police station you have npcs standing guard which stay in the same exact spot(not talking about the quest givers) also ones that will move to kill zombies but then return back to their "set" spot to wait.. it's sort of nit picking but little things like this really do kill the immersion I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. Have to agree, animations are terrible, movement is very bad, and combat is terrible. The idea is perfect, the execution was bad. For this game to succeed it would need to have all models, animations and combat redone, which will not happen. The game will go free to play and do worse than AoC.

Originally posted by convict That's pretty funny. 2 weeks ago everyone said there was no way in hell they where going to improve the sound effects, lack of impact, etc, and yet, it happenedthis BWE. I wonder why people think they can't improve character models and animations too. Nobody even knows if they're not even prepared already and just need to be patched. Will it happen? I don't know, but i'd say we're not in the position to claim facts. |

Originally posted by 3-4thElf It does seem to improve as you level and are able to mix and match some of the tier 3 abilities. I don't think it ever becomes good per se, but it does become better than what you see in the starting area. However, the actual settings remain really interesting and are probably the strongest point of the game, at least to me. "Loading screens" are not "instances". |

Again, not really seeing any issues with the controls or the combat here... I feel what really keeps the combat from shining is the pace at which you get skills. I like the complexity of it, and I've enjoyed playing it, but the slow going to get full skill bars is what hinders the combat for me.
Otherwise, the combat itself is decent enough, the animations could be a little more fluid but otherwise this game is extremely similar to GW2 minus the AOE placement, which isn't much of an issue to nix that entirely.
I feel the world is interesting, detailed and immersive, and some of the missions are very interesting.
Personally I don't feel like I would put in a lot of time to progress in this game, and I think thats where the game will fall flat, theres so much fun in exploring, but I feel they've added a little too much MMO in what otherwise could be a very enjoyable puzzle-action-adventure game. |

Btw, I haven't had any of the OP's problems with targeting and didn't see any of those problems at the official forums either. Sounds like it's a bug that's more or less just affecting the OP. Looking at the official forums he will very likely get a developer reply to a bug report. It's beta and some corner cases obviously still exists. |
