Originally posted by Grand_Nagus Pretty much this, I have access to everything I want right now in LOTRO and I've spent a total of 25$. Now, I will admit that this has been through judicious use of the sales of both the cash shop and things like gamestop that offered the fellowship of the ring quest package and 2k turbine points for 14.99 (it is still only 19.99 through them). Along with being an altaholic which has enabled me to get quite a bit of turbine points from playing the game. I don't play it hardcore, usually about 5-10 hours a week as a second mmo. That wasn't enough to get me to buy the box and sub when it was p2p, but I now get what I want out of it for less, and those that want more out of it pay more. |

Originally posted by cooper85 I played. I thought the UI was great but that's as far as it went. Character models were garbage.[mod edit] Jumping just looks unatural. I love the idea of the game but you can tell it was just rushed through and not well thought out at all. Felt like I was playing gta on PS2.
It's too bad really. I think a Silent Hill type mmo would be great because I love the genre. Oh well. |

EQ2 is the game I still play actually. They have level restrictions, race restrictions and gear restrictions. Everything is finely tuned though so if you want anything "extra" (such as a hybrid class) you gotta pay for it.

Originally posted by BlueCameo What am I crying for? That makes no sense. I didnt say their model wasn't "right". I said F2P is the future. You said Its F2P? But assuming thats a typo :-) Why would I care if someone played for free? Community? Seen bad ones in premium P2P. Well, it cant be an achilles heel if I could pay for it whenever I felt like it. I just choose not to. And Ill promptly change my mind if they ever go F2P. |

Originally posted by cooper85 If it's so innocent, why won't they show us? Why such vague terms as "nice to have" and "convenience"? They already sold bonus items depending on what level package you bought. A $15 Initiate's pack gets you a pet and a set of "high end" beginner weapons. A $60 master pack gets you seven high-end talismans, experience pots and other perks. So haven't they already "sold power"? And what do they expect every player, on average, to purchase each month to meet their financial projections? How many pairs of shoes do you need? "Loading screens" are not "instances". |
