I have played the game, I like settings and the complexity of the game, preordered, and Happy that I did. |

Still playing in the beta.. what I don't understand is why people think the combat style isn't for them, but then they turn around and say that GW2 is much more fun.
After playing TSW for a good amount of time so far, they are extremely similar... I think TSW has a lot of charm, and a great feel to it overall.... if anything I would say the controls feel a little too tight.. or maybe its just the reaction timing, but overall I like what they've done. The game really stands out. The combat is enjoyable, the setting is well done, the voice work.... is a mixed bag... the exploration is top notch.
I'll see if I feel the same way at the end of the weekend. |

Originally posted by maskedweasel for me its the entire feel of GW2 with the asthetics, the animations, just everything works well for me. In a real world type game setting its usually going to feel akward playing this type of combat in this type of setting there really isn't a way around that without going full action type gameplay. Either way I enjoy both games combat but GW2 for me and especially PVP just is more fun imho. I like to have all the choices though in secret world and making my own decks is a good time and is the main reason i enjoy the system as much as I do. I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

TSW has some really thight animations which can make them a bit stackatto. On the other hand, PvP should be a blast because of the really tight controls. Seems like they went for a trade-off and sacrificed a little "shine" to get the controls better. |

"game replayability 0" yea, i suppose in other MMOs where the quests we're boring to begin with that the replayability is ok? TSW really doesnt require "alts"...Any character from the start is also any aternate character. |

How many hours of gameplay is this review based on? |

Let me ask again....what other MMO has the variety of types of quests that TSW has???? *crickets*....exactly. Yes TSW has some of the ones that every other MMO predicates their PVE off of, but that is not the bread and butter in this game.
As for combat....you really need to spend more time with it. As funny as this might sound, I'm willing to be my life savings that most people get their first and even second builds wrong and completely use the combat system incorrectly. Once you master the technique, you finally begin to appreciate it. |

The combat is just terrible and I just can't get past it, supposedly they improved it for this BWE but it feels as bad as ever. |

Some people alt as an endgame activity (not everyone's into raiding and/or pvp), extending the game's lifespan by playing up new characters. Things that make alting more attractive include: having different areas to explore, different classes/races to play, different quests to do. Faction quests in TSW are pretty much the only reason to alt, so it definitely limits the long-term playability of the game for the alt crowd. Now, it's absolutely true that "not every game's for every player," but I'm not sure that was the tagline Funcom was envisioning when they set the game's budget. In any case, it's probably not a troubling issue for most players, but it's certainly something to be aware of. |

Originally posted by chaod1984 Oh, I'm not saying they should change anything about the game. I probably typed more than I needed to, really. I was just saying "it's going to disappoint people who like to alt." It will. The game has other things going for it, but alting definitely isn't one of them, and it's something to be aware of going into it. They don't exactly advertise the fact in their press packets. ;) |

Took a peak at this stream: http://no.twitch.tv/brotatoe ... and they discovered that if you are on different servers, you can just group up to play together at the same server. Neat. :) |

Also keep in mind that one of the reasons why people create alts is so they can have characters that play differently. The level cap in most games restrains their ability to keep gaining new skills, and the classes restrain the skills they can have. "Alting" in TSW will look different, in that it will simply be the same character gaining skills with weapons they did not previously have, and getting gear that focuses on different stats, opening up the new playstyles they could previously only get in other games by creating new characters. One thing we don't know is how long it will take the average player to gain every skill in the game. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |
