Been waiting forever to find a game that's not a cookie cutter WOW wannabe, this seems like it. I'm a former AO player, played it for years. AO in my book is one of the best MMO ever made. If something Funcom is famous for is to make game that are different and this one looks like it. I'm gonna play the beta weekend, i watch a few youtube vid of previous beta and i really like what i saw. I saw stuff that looks very similar to AO. So i'm wondering, for you guys who played the previous beta and played AO in the past, does this game have some similarity to AO ? |

I haven't actually played AO, but have a couple of friends who played it a lot. TSW goes in the direction of AO, but the game is more streamlined (read: less clunky). They have for instance used the pocket bosses from AO and a very useful crafting system. I think the build system, where you put together 7 active + 7 passive + appropriate gear in TSW is at the same depth level as the twinking system was in AO. You can probably spend hours putting them together if you want. ;) |

Sadly it seems that skill and equipment system is dumped down like other MMOs are. Still, they do have nice details like social-equipment. So some depth, but not as much.
This is from short testing and what I have read this far... |

Originally posted by Kaynos1972 My first MMO was AO and I can tell you that this game will remind you at times of AO. You'll basically get the sense that a few devs that worked on AO are definitely working on this game. Even some mobs and locations will bring back memories. |
