Dagger dagger, and duel pistols was what i was using at the end of the beta, i did like it but i think sword dagger and shortbow will be my main. infiltrator strike is an awsome move to get in and out of melee |

You know I hate to be one of "those guys" but shouldn't you be refering to them as "thieves"? :) |

All I see him do are 1v1s which is impossible for any decent theif to lose. I always got top ranking with mine, this class is way too easy to play. |

Originally posted by raven29 Like Lokke said, it depends on who you're fighting, but with the build he's using (which is very close to the one I used), even 2v1's are achievable if played right. The amount of kite and escape the thief has is immense and can make the "OP" melee classes cringe when trying to fight one that's specced well. |

Originally posted by raven29 1) That's what thieves excell at. I don't see why that makes it any less relevant. It would be like watching a warrior video and saying 'all that guy did was melee'. So what? 2) There were a couple fights in there that were 2 on 1. And he still won. They just took a lot longer to finish. I will say that the thief is probably the least area-oriented class in the game, however that doesn't make it a bad class. The shortbow can (as seen in the vid) be put to good use. However, yes, the thief is really built around dominating 1 class at a time. It's not unlike the assassin from the original game. |

i dont have much experience with the thief
But they seem good at killing targets 1vs 1
But how much AoE and support do they have in WvWvW keep sieges? How much survivabillity do they have when fighting multiple vs multiple targets? How much survivabillity do they have in PvE?
These thiefbuilds, while great for structured PvP may be much more ballanced in teh rest of the game.
And with time other players will learn how to counter these thiefs and then the complaining starts. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

That video is clear proof of what happens when thief goes up against poorly built glass cannon apponents. Even the author of that vid admits that once his apponents started stacking toughness and built for survivability, thief effectiveness takes a nose dive. Tons of threads on official forums and guru that show this is a huge problem currently. It's beta and i expect changes to be made. |

1) They ("we", hehe) do have a neat Bow skill which rebounds on every nearby target, plus an distant AOE poison cloud arrow that can combo with it. This can lead to severe damage on packed groups from aboves (i.e from ramparts). We also have traps, which combined with AOE crippling skills can slow down a whole pack. It's not recommended at all to stay in pack in front of a thief. 2) A lot of survivability if we play decently : just because we have tons of evasive/reinsertion skills. Like set a destination as a teleport point, and just with one click tp here at will, like wow's warlock tp. Plus all the vanishes & tp-to-target skills, we can basically be an annoying Marvel's Diablo thingy in a crowded area. About heal, we have lots of different styles, but my prefered is this one : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Signet_of_Malice Not only does it passive heal, but the best part is the heal on hit : combine it with Leaping death blossom (which is hitting 5 to 8 times per target), performed on a pack, and you can end up with a 50% HP heal. It's quite adrenalin pumping because sometimes you just want to run into a pack just for that heal and teleport away, even if there's a risk to lose that HP faster than regaining it if you're focused. 3) I barely died in PvE, even against packs of 2+ levels mobs. All with daggers, no need to kite, you just have to use the right skill at the right time (vanish, leaping death blossom, evade, etc). ***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in ***** |
