I love Darkfall, but don't have time for it in my life.  I work, have a wife and kids and like to socialize.  If I was younger, I would still be playing darkfall because it has all the features that I want...except I don't have the time to do them anymore.

There were a lot of great things in Darkfall, and also some really shitty things.   Please don't flame me too much but I think Darkfall needs to get hit with the casual bat.  I'm not talking casual as in EZmode...EZmode games are a waste of time better served watching the worst possible sitcom imaginable or the Star Wars prequels.  

Number 1 problem with the game is the grind.  It was just too much.  I want to participate in FFA full loot pvp as much as the next internet badass but with job/kid/dogs the insane grind was a major hurdle.   It also kept me from getting much pvp in.  I remember running up to a guy and nailing him with my newly crafted 2 handed sword.  The result was an almost imperceptible movement on his health bar.  He hits me, I have almost no life left.  I did the wall of pain thing and overnight swimming as well so I made the effort.  It was just too much.  The game would work better with a skill cap at very reachable level.  That way PVP would at least be somewhat more accessible.  I'm not afraid to lose my gear but I don't want to have to grind for months before I can even get in some fun pvp. 

I'm pretty sure a PVE server would fail.  A sandbox game would be pretty boring without being able to interact with other players. 

I did really like the mob AI in Darkfall, was much better than mob AI I have seen in any other mmorpgs.  It could be improved since exploiting mobs was pretty easy in Darkfall, but not a big issue since the game is about players, not mobs.

First going F2P would be a good start to bring in some players, cash shop for cosmetic items and skill gain potions, opening up a PVE server with a optional PVP flagging would be another along with opening up more land for housing and city building so the seige system would be disabled on the PVE server, no transfers allowed to the said PVE server, a toolset for players to create quests to give more themepark content, there are some great features in the game , but the bugs lack of content and a bitter community bent on driving players away.

Personally i want DF to become a rich sandbox experience. With the announcements made obviously AV wants to drive the other direction which is not my.

Make DF F2P, with skill gap restriction for free users! For example... free users should be able to skill up to 50... and premium to max...simple... imagine the population if this will happen....

This is one smelly dirty litterbox here and the only way to clean it up is to throw it in the trash..

Some great concepts wasted on the desire to make a game to where grieving, ganking and then stealing and taking everything others have worked for after stabbing them in the back while chopping lumber is not only the norm but expected to be the way it is played..

Throw the whole litterbox away and learn a lesson..

How I think Darkfall can be saved?

Cap Skills

Unlock/Free View Perspective

Remove 40% Damage to Back

Remove Global Bank

Make Resources Localized, not Area/Zone Grid

Make Player Cities and Hamlets Modable/Changable (allow players to alter the layout of cities)

Sell Darkfall to a more competent and trustworthy company

So does Mr. Flambouras listen to that or will he ever present again FUNHULKS ?? as sandbox content ? umpf eek

 

...and make all in game chat use CAPs as default....so ^ guy will feel rigth at home.
