Originally posted by ZigZags Aion and LotrO went F2P too. According to your reasoning, this must have meant that most people didn't like Aion and LotrO, yet Aion had 200+ million dollar revenues and 50-100 servers for years at a stretch, and LotrO was one of the most liked AAA MMO's around. Look, if you dislike FC and have a grudge against them because of disappointed expectations, well, you're entitled to it. If you dislike any game FC will ever make bc of it, feel free to walk away from it. You didn't have fun, others did. And it has little to do with how a follow up game will end up to be as the MMO genre proves again and again, so feel free to judge TSW on its own merits when it comes out. |

I guess Fallen Earth. Aion, Guild Wars, Mabinogi, EQ2, CoH, Dofus, Wakfu, etc, etc., etc, etc., don't count. And that''s just a patial list of games released way too close to WoW to be copies or games that are clearly not copies....
But more important, at least to me, is that WoW isn't 12 years old. It's 8. So I find your entire post dubious.

Originally posted by Aerowyn Same here. Both games basically make the player do the same tasks, but I dislike the fact that in TSW i still am collecting a list of tasks, set out to do them, then go back to the "quest-giver". It also annoys me that killing mobs before obtaining a quest related to it is meaningless, save for a small amount of XP and loot. This doesn't happen in GW2. |

Originally posted by KhinRunite Go back to the quest giver? You don't have to go back. You don't have a list of tasks... And it seems like you had your eyes closed. When you're done with a quest, you can go on with one of the few other quests you can have at the same time, or take a look around and find another quest very close to where you are. |

Originally posted by MosesZD Fallen Earth is WoW with Star Wars Galaxies NDE (is that right) combat system, set out in a desert rather than the sherlock forest. The game is still a complete grind and you do is kill x of y ALL day long Guild Wars was a COMPLETE WoW clone....dont know where you came up with that one Mabinogi is definitely not a WoW clone....it's one of the most innovative games out there...the sad thing is that the world is kinda bland and the character movement is slowwww. Graphics are very much so an acquired taste. still do way too many kill quests. EQ2 is WoW clone times 5....this list is laughable... Dofus and Wakfu...they aren't even all that popular as FTP games....and Im pretty sure, if I remember, it's all about killing stuff.... To me WoW clone is about the approach of character progression. In WoW it was kill and fetch quests...100%....that has been the case for every game since. At least TSW does it's best to mix all that up, make it interesting (throwing cocktails at zombies and making them run on landmines) as well as TSW making investigation quests which are WAYYYY different than anything you'll see in most MMORPG's....the best part about the investigation quests is they aren't easy. you do have to think. It really sickens me though that all the GW2 fanbois constantly have to come over to TSW to rag on it. That shows insecurity though, so maybe it's a good thing. I actually purposely have started to go over to GW2 forums to stir the pot...they always tell me to leave....I would love to say "ditto"... |

Lots of hours logged. No sign of burnout what so ever. I can't say enough about real world real people real situations. TSW is by far the deepest mmo I've played. |

Originally posted by Saxonblade I only played the first BWE, so I can't accurately describe my experience anymore. Now that you mention it, yes you are right about uplinking the quest result so there's no need to "turn in" but I still remember needing to go back (and forth) to the police station, maybe to pick up the next quest in that chain or whatever. In short, I can't just set out and never ever worry about going back to the quest hub. What I was saying about the mobs is the same as WoW, or any standard MMO: killing mobs before taking the quest does not credit you for the kill, right? In GW2, it doesn't happen like that (save for personal story) since you get the "quest" by stepping in an area instead of talking to someone. |

Originally posted by KhinRunite that sounds exactly like how the SWTOR side quests were.... personally im not worried about how I acquire a quest, but moreso what the quest has to offer. |

Originally posted by KhinRunite In GW2 killing mobs only gives credit for the event that actually calls for them. In TSW there are quests where you have to kill mobs and they don't always tell you even where they are. You have to use logic to find out which mobs to kill. Many of the quests don't even require you to kill X number of things. They are in there, but aren't the bread n' butter that you find in many traditional MMOs. |

I am surprised how well the active dodging fits with the combat. Devs know their stuff. To see them listening to the players and adding stuff like this on the fly, it gives me confidence in their dedication to this game. |

Tsw is not a hub based game, you do not collect a shopping list of quests do them and return to the hub for your next list. It just does not work like that. Most locations in the world have less than 3 quests. The only location where I have found more than 4 is kingsmouth police station, probably to ease people in that are used to wow norm games. That has 7 quests.

I don't think it will win game of the gear not by a long shot. The reason I mostly say this is the buggyness and clunkyness of movement, action, etc. However this game is definitely on my list of games to get along with: Torch Light 2: Because after playing D3 I'm more so looking forward to this instead. Guild Wars 2: The game is already payed for, though I'm in the beta's I refuse to play because well..its heart breaking knowing that my progress will be wiped. Rift Expansion: I have actually taken a very long break from this game, how ever my sub doesn't run out till I think april of next year...bought a year long one. That being said I will definitely pick up the expansion and I'll probably switch over to the defiant side to level on that path to change up the story a bit. Wish there were more people however at least 100-200k more just to kind of fill out the ranks, or that I would find an incredible guild. Other than that I love this game and even with TSW and GW2 this game will be the second while the other two will switch out here and there. |
