List from an old-timer:
1. EQ - the MMO that really got it going 2. Dune - The first true RTS (hated those damn worms!) 3. Baldur's Gate - Great graphics for it's time and the true feel of pen and paper D&D...finally. 4. Unreal - not the first FPS but so much better than the others at the time! 5. DAOC - PVP (RvR) for the fun of it. No one has done it better yet (although GW2 WvW has a shot.) 6. (I know, but the OP started it) The Elder Scrolls - Arena... Man I loved the "make your own spell" feature... OP'd though it was, it was still a blast. Start of a great series.

guild wars - just casue nothing esle gave me over 7k hours. delta force - my first online fps game. bioshock - one of the best rpg/fps games til date. mass effect - that game realy game me back the feeling of exploring space, the only other 2 games that made feel that way ware the dig and flashback or out of this world? and people will hate this but da:o - goot story, good side kicks, good length (120 hours for me with all the dlc) good combat. just a very solid game in my book.
