Seriously, at the end they spawned Branded creatures and when you died to these creatures you actually became new Branded! And then you could kill other players and try to convert them into Branded as well making a huge Branded army! We were massing very large numbers and PvP'ing in the PvE zones about to take over eventually, but then the event ended :(. It was honestly some of the most fun I have ever had in a game, and I hope that they can look at that and make it actually something that happens from time to time within the game itself! |

Yeah, the IDEA was awesome. Open world PvP! :P Poor Darkpony would have been delirious with joy. Too bad it bugged out on half the servers, started too late or not at all. :P |

the idea was very cool. Too bad Eri the legendary insta-killer was on quard. Makes it kinda impossible to to win. |

It was fun once I caught up, I have to admit. In the beginning it was basically just following the big long line of people from spawn to spawn (until enough of them died off and got branded that stuff started to live a bit longer). Then near the end it was pretty boring. Watch the giant dragon flying around and follow the devourer killing guards. Really fun middle part - kinda slow to start though, and at the end there wasn't much to do but sit around and wait for the plug to get pulled. It would be a fun ~occasional~ event to have though - I wouldn't want to see it every hour, or even every day. Maybe just randomly every now and again. |

Originally posted by Meowhead I don't want this game to have a straight up open world PvP, I like the way it is built already, but the way the event was shaped and how it played out was honsetly some of the most fun I've had in a game in a longggg while. I think they could create an event that happened every once and a while that mirrored this, and it would be really fun. Also, I think they converged some of the servers for this event, we had a friend that was definitely on a different server than us, but when we were playing it we found him running around too. So that's pretty cool that they have the server tech to do that so easily. |

Any idea how many servers got the event? I know mine didn't and a few other didn't. |

Originally posted by Ridelynn Idk man maybe if you were playing with friends with the sole goal of breading a very large army you would have had fun all the way through. Also, that's what I would like to see, maybe a once a week type event that would be concentrated in one zone like tonight's event. |

Originally posted by Meowhead Oh, the irony ... Anyway, seeing how people really loved this "branded" open world pvp aspect and had a blast fighting eachother in the open world (despite the bad timing of the thing), let's hope that gave Anet a friggin' clue.

The event proved without a shadow of a doubt, that people are better at dieing than killing. And that is why you REALLY need to fear the zombie apocalypse. Overall, fun experience though. |

Was loads of fun. I think I was holding for good 15 minutes against several corrupted players until they managed to finally zerg me down with help of NPCs. (nerf abuse fo utility skill change when going underwater effectively giving me 2 heals 2 elite skills and 6 utility ones <.< ) Sadly they didn't time it very well, the even should have started at least hour earlier so that it wouldn't end in middle. |

Sounds as if I missed some fun there. Couldn't stay awake long enough, was a marathon session this weekend and by 1am I was ready to drop...so I did - straight into the nearest bed. Didn't wake up again till it was all over... These time zones are a real drag. |

Originally posted by DarkPony Clue bout what? That people like occasional, semi consensual PvP with objective and reasoning behind? I still am not big fan of how open world PvP is handles in 90% of MMOs. It's gank fest where better geared/higher leveled/grouped people just abuse it to grief others when they are bored. There was nothing in last years of MO gameplay that would really convince me otherwise. Until a company decides to make open world PvP game that really has that aspect put forward and fully fleshed out there is no point of having it as permanent feature. The beauty of the event was that it was an event. Something that happens once in a while, something that doesn't really distrupt your gameplay all the time. It had clear objectives along with it - defend NPC/take back outpost or assault outposts/kill NPC/defend mobs. There was whole mechanic of if you die, you join the bad guys rather than the usual "if you die you get camped at spawn". That's pretty much where WvWvW comes in. If i want to fight other players en masse, I can go there and and play in objective oriented scenario with clearly defined goals and spots to fight for. |

Originally posted by Meowhead Ya, they kinda botched this one. I hope they make it up to us somehow in the near future, I know a lot of players were unhappy with this latest event. On our server (Maguuma) players were just starting to get excited when the servers went down mid-event. Not cool. I did like what they were trying to do though, if only they could've either extended the server times to compensate for the mess-up, or made up for it in some way or another. |

What it shows me is that arenanet has the tools avaiable to treat the community with some wild events from time to time. Like the GM run events in EQ, but on a much larger scale.
If this is possible, they can setup events ike a siege of Divinities reach by centaurs, with centaurs rushing the city streets and killing NPC's and players.
Or they could add lycantrophy to the game, changing a single player intoo a werewolf with bosslike capacities, allowing him to kill other players, resulting in a big werewolf hunt organised by the players themselves.
Or just allowing players to join one of 2 factions in an event which would allow payers to kill those player bastards that joined the wrong faction.
With tooing like this the possibilities are endless, lets hope GW2 makes enough money for Arenanet to allow them to add things ike this on a regular base. Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Yeah, theo nly real problem with this event was that the automatic trigger didn't work, so Arenanet employees were jumping from server to server, jumpstarting the event (That's why some got it later) (O not at all) ... and that the beta ended at a certain time. As the game USUALLY stands once the game officially launches, starting 20-30 minutes late wouldn't be the biggest problem because it's not like the game is going down later so the event will be cut short. |

My only complain was that it ended very suddenly. I was attacking a champion monster and suddenly I was kicked and got a "internet connection error" message. I would've prefered a better ending, like the big dragon coming from sky killing all players or something. Anyway it was great fun Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums |

Originally posted by DarkPony Cause time and time again the devs say "Hey we have this awesome feature inw orld PvP that will give it some meaning!" ... and then there is none whatsoever. In WoW wPvP was ruined around TBC by stupidly powerful guards. In AoC it was either spawm point camping or NPC guard abuse. WAR which was supposed to be "the" pvp game turned into keep swapping because it had so many flaws there was no reason to do it "properly". In Rift - spawn camping and even tho they tried to add some sort of pvp objectives, that was limited to lower level zones and was ignored by the time people got to max level. In TOR there was absolutely no reason to do open world PvP other than force-pushing people off cliffs and we all know how the big PvP lake ended... There is rarely really a situation in any game these days where it's that viscious ganker hiding behind the tree. Usually it's more of "zerg of gankers runs thorugh low level zone wiping out lowbies". You almost never get attacked by equal level player, unless you decided to pull 2-3 mobs that did 80% of work for him. It's not PvP - it's griefing. I could ask You the same "why You world PvP peoples want to have PvP being shoehorned into games not built for it?", because really, from recent MMOs except EVE none really was built with wPvP in mind. I'd love to see a game with proper criminal system, open world objectives and more player interaction with the wolrd in pvp, but so far only EVE really achieves that and EVE is a special snowflake that not everyone has patience to play.
