Been playing Tribes Ascend today maybe the shiny is still yet to wear off but it is awesome and it will get you used to the new fluid movement thats coming in PS2 (speed ramps). I'd love to say Im in the PS2 beta but I am not, I was loyal to planetside for a long time however this up front costs nothing and is a bit of fun. All you see is the same account system. Thanks all ^^. If you click the referral you are allowed to click this link:

ugh... i tryed to get into this game... just couldnt get into all the sliding around and jumping. it makes me sad that there will be more of this in ps2 with everyone able to spec jump jets and power lifts that launch you around bases but at least it wont be at the level of tribes, http://medias.luna-atra.fr/gw2/char_tool/CT_imageGenerator.php?pseudo=Centurion%20Mikal&lang=EN&code=&code=TSwtLDUsLSw2LC0sMjksOSwyMiwyMywyNCwtLDEwMiwzNiw4MSw4NCw4OQ%3D%3D |

Tribes is an awesome game and I have been playing the crap out of it, until D3 came out that is, but it really is no substitute for planetside.
Also, @ellobo: It's my understanding that only light assault can get jump packs at this time in ps2. I could be wrong but I believe that is the case. Either way, like you said, I don't expect it to be a skiing speed fest like tribes ascend anyway. Tribes is designed aroundthat principle of speed and flying around in combat, Planetside is not. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Shadow's Hand Guild The Secret World - Dragons Planetside 2 - Terran Republic Tera - Dragonfall Server |

Ascend is the best multiplayer FPS out at the moment tbh. It lacks some of the stuff in previous tribes, but it's going back to the classic style PC shooters (before they got dumbed down by things like CoD) which is good. |

actually the "old school" shooters like unreal etc. are much more arcade-y and dumbed down even than cod tbh. |

Just want to make a point this does not in anyway replace what planetside 2 will be for me. While I wait for beta access its something to hone my skills on. I appreciate it enough that I may drop some cash on it Id definately buy this game its quality. I hope though they constantly pay attention to it needs a few more maps etc.

Well it gives you a rough idea of what to expect, many of Planetside's mechanics were taken from Tribes. It's most similar to Tribes 2 though. Youtube some of the vids :) Only you won't have people jetpacking around at 200mph in PS2 :P
TotalBiscuit did a movie of Ascend some time ago when it was still closed beta. Quite a bit has changed since though including the entire class system and VIP/free servers are gone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1HCnrU3FT8&feature=related |

I enjoy a few quick rounds of tribes, serving up blue plate specials makes me grin everytime
could do with a new game mode though, one more focused on vehicles |

Originally posted by squidinc Yeh I am hoping they will nurture and look after the game. Maybe add in a 3rd factions Grizzly Bears and have a 3v match. I only really play CTF and I dislike the volcano match along with a few others who swear when the server rolls to it.

I like how you posted some dumb referral link about a game that is nothing similar to Planetside. |

Tribes: Ascend was okay for the first week. Until I realized that it was P2W. My relative threw down cash and ended up having more powerful classes then me and i was a week ahead of him in every aspect. I think they had a good idea for a game until they made it P2W. They expect you to throw down 100,000 XP for most gun unlocks, which takes a very long time. You only get a couple thousand per match if your lucky. 100,000 is downright rediculous. I think after a week of decent gameplay I was only able to grab around 15,000. If you spend money on the cash shop you get a XP VIP buff that is permanant. So while the game can be fun if your playing against other f2p players, as soon as you run into premium players you start noticing a huge difference in fire power. |

I don't mind Tribes, but I hate CTF, and that's Tribes' main mode, so screw that. >_< |
