I am searching for several weeks now, I am beginning to think it is hopeless, nevertheless I want to ask if anyone has ever heard of a 18th century game. A game where you have to get higher up by talking to people and meeting people from the elit class stuff like that. A game where you just walk about in the 18th century. I never thought there would be any but I am not one to give up, so I thought let me ask around :) Any comment would be much appreciated. |

Liberty or Death is the only game that I can think of off hand that takes place in the 18th century. But that's a console game from 1994 that doesn't have much in the way of talking to people. Pirates of the Burning Sea is 17th century, I think. But the only real "go talk to people" is your standard picking up quests and turning them in in the usual manner of quests in theme park games. Uncharted Waters Online doesn't specify a date, but it's roughly 16th century. Some things are anachronous to the 16th century, however, such as clippers or the Panama Canal. That might be closer to what you're looking for, with a heavier emphasis on talking to people as you go explore the world or build your fortune as a trader. |

Isn't sword of the new world (now sword 2?) in a highly stylized fantasy version of the 18 century? |

Not an MMO, but Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword is like that. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

Originally posted by Sovrath That's not based on Earth, so it doesn't fit our timeline. From a cursory look at the game's storyline, it might be loosely based on the Spanish conquest of the New World, but that's 16th century, not 18th. |

I think I understand what the OP is asking for...kind of like Dangerous Liasons the PC game.lol. At least with the same socio-political advancement model..so to speak. I'd actually like a game like this too...the scruffy street urchin becomes the famous artist or swindler..or the high life socialite takes a great fall..all based on action...favors..betrayal ...blackmail and manipulation. Power plays of all sorts. The kind of game World of Darkness should be.....well..mostly. Still need to vamp out and kick some arse from time to time. I'm not aware of any game like this OP. If someone ever makes one it should probably have some great A.I. though. |

Even if Grind of the New World was in the 18th century and on Earth, you shouldn't touch that game. A very interesting concept, but very poorly realized. |
