You are contradicting yourself. If you enjoy playing with other people then do so, why do you have to NEED to group to play with other players.

Its a fricking mmo, socialise, make friends, join a guild. The game opens up a LOT after that. Me and my friends are trying all the possible combos we can think of and seeing what they do. It brings a new strategy to the game and makes skills mean a lot more

i assume your still in the 1-10 areas since you said 3 hours in... that area is basically a tutorial to help you get used to the gameplay.. 

I noticed that too, in fact they told people that before launch, that the 1-10 areas were going to have more basic scripting on world events to help players learn how to play their classes better. The larger scripted event trees are for the rest of the world where the events change and consequences occur for failure. Purhaps getting to a higher level would help next time there OP.

it seems many people are making their final assumptions on the game after the first 5 levels.. now if you hate the graphics and how combat is set up I can't say you may like the game later.. not like all the hardcore TERA fans who say game gets magically bad to awsome at 20-30. Here though questing does get better and a lot more interesting as well as your personal story. You have a TON to do in this game take advantage of it.. also remember this is a B2P game.. I can easily get my moneys worth just on PVP and not do a single bit of PVE

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

I think the best suggestion for someone feeling that it's all just "boring and repetitive" is to re-roll the character (change both class, nation/species, etc.).

 

Personally I went for Human Elementalist (with a friendly vibe) and honestly didn't enjoy it too much, so I stopped at about lvl 20.

 

Then I went for a Charr Ranger with a more dodgy feel. And it ROCKED~! Everything about the story, setting and even the quests in the area worked so fine for me afterwards. I'm not an RP-style player, but I do enjoy my enviroment, and the Charr one spoke to my heart.

 

I know some people enjoyed the Human a lot (my Guild has lots of Human players who say that it's their favorite starting area so far), while others think Norns are brilliant. For me it was the Charr, and their rugged style. Making a good character choice really makes a HUGE difference, which is fairly unexpected.

After 16 pages GW2 sounds like your run of the mill post WoW paper thin mmo that is catering to the instant gratification crowd.   Streamlined to be be made casual and easy. No mystery, no thought needed. Even "hidden points of intrest" are marked on the map?! Reall? Couple that with "We restricted the trait/skill system because we don't want people to be shocked and overwhelmed." ,  and you the perfect recipe for a 2 month counsole game. 

 

This is what the other side is saying... These aren't point of taste reviews these are game design reviews.

Are we playing the same game?  The main storyline is instanced and have nothing to do with "quest hubs" which don't exist they've been evolved into Dynamic Events, which also hold no bearing on your personal storyline,  If you mean that levels are needed for storlyine advancement,but there is more than one way to skin that cat.  and as far as exploring there is nothing linear about the whole game complete the exploration achievment in just lion arch and you will see how many cool places there are

ALSO  find a friend it makes this game 1000000% better

I have already done all the Storyline my character can manage, since my character is way too low to complete the next step, I am now forced to do the side quests to achieve the level which will allows me to do so.

So, I have to do the side quest (Heart Quests) whether I like it or not.

Why do I need to group for anyway? I could easily level this game by myself (like any other MMO) if it wasn't for the fact that I am fed up of the quest grinding system which GW2 abuses as much as any other recent MMORPG.

Anyway as I said in my previous post, I ll try to play it in a different way, exploring and avoiding the Heart Quests as someone suggested.

I will let you know if the game become more interesting.

 

Another good point.  To compound the incredibly easy-mode play, GW2 is another single-player game masquerading as an MMO.

The "group content" scales, so other players are not required.  So far, it's not a game you play WITH other people, it's a game you play AROUND other people.  There's a huge difference.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

actually you get back to the way MMOs were back in the day, like everquest for example.  Getting a quest was a lucky day, cause usually you were out just killing mobs hoping for the rare spawn you needed to spawn.  As far as dungeon crawling through every level, that seems boring how many times can you run the same dungeon and claim its not boring.  I am gonna go out on a limb and say WoW spoiled too many players into thinking this is the way it HAS to be, but in actuality Blizzard policy has alway been to take content  and ideas from other companies and the Warcraft franchise is the best example, originially Warcraft was supposed to be Warhammer, but due to some last minute dispute (unsure exactly what happened) but Games Workshop  pulled the license and forced Blizzard to change it to Warcraft.  I just saying anytime you try a new MMO forget everything you lmew about MMOs and try to experience everything fresh as possible.  You can play Rift and expect DDO or warhammer, they are all three VERY different games.

There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?

I have already done all the Storyline my character can manage, since my character is way too low to complete the next step, I am now forced to do the side quests to achieve the level which will allows me to do so.

So, I have to do the side quest (Heart Quests) whether I like it or not.

Why do I need to group for anyway? I could easily level this game by myself (like any other MMO) if it wasn't for the fact that I am fed up of the quest grinding system which GW2 abuses as much as any other recent MMORPG.

Anyway as I said in my previous post, I ll try to play it in a different way, exploring and avoiding the Heart Quests as someone suggested.

I will let you know if the game become more interesting.

 

Another good point.  To compound the incredibly easy-mode play, GW2 is another single-player game masquerading as an MMO.

The "group content" scales, so other players are not required.  So far, it's not a game you play WITH other people, it's a game you play AROUND other people.  There's a huge difference.

I used to think playing with other people is what made an MMO an MMO.

I cant believe how people call gw2 boring and repetitive, it is THE best MMO on the market right now, best content, best combat, best design, best pvp, best art, best diversive class selection period. If you dont like this, than none of the games on the game list will appeal to you. Quit mmos and find another genre, MMOs are not for you

No, his point is absolutely, 100% on the mark.  GW2 is one of the most thin, easy game I've seen in a long time.  It takes hand-holding to new heights.

Yes, the "undiscovered" points of interest are indeed listed on the map, along with almost everything else.  I've seen ridiculous excuses made for this - "hey, it's awesome for exploration because it lets me know it's there so I can find it", which is patently absurd to anyone interested in actual exploration in a game.

There comes a point when streamlining damages the enjoyability and challenge of a game.  GW2 has crossed that line.

so you have played all the way to 80 and can give a full justification on this as a fact? or even to 40 for that matter.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Disagree completely,  the content does scale to keep the difficulty up,  I know I spent quite a bit of time trying to do a quest solo but when other people showed up it got harder and the need to work together VERY much was apparent.  Maybe you are just too pro for this game, because if you aren't workign together and completing combos you are going to fail.   Also making statements when you have had barely enough time to complete even ONE zone shows you really didn't give the game a chance, don't "play" a game just to complain about it.

There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?

I have not   played GW2, but this is what is being said over and over by people who are not "all in" Where as in TSW, people said "I don't like the animations"  or "I don't like feel of combat (animations). These are points of taste.

 

What is being said here is about game design. Stuff like "I can't continue the story because I need to grind DEs to move on."  and  that "everything is handed to you on a silver plater." This is thin game design.

I see well after playing both,  GW2 overall has a ton more stuff to do right out the game.. staying power we will see luckily GW2 has no sub and I can enjoy both games

I do like how people will ignore that you can do hearts/quests, crafting, exploring, dungeons, WvW, the personal story, DEs, OR minigames to advance yourself.  If you run out of things to do in your starting area, there are two others (four others at launch). There is no lack of content to level yourself on. This is not "paper-thin"...it's quite deep, even @ beta.

There is also sPvP.

 

I will concede the hand-holding on the exploring aspect. While I understand showing most points of interest as a guided-tour of an area, I do NOT understand showing hidden points. There needs to be something for people to find for themselves.

There ARE, however, still hidden DEs (found one today).

 

Anywho, I'm off to study. I just really don't see how this game can be "repetitive". There is just so much to do, even during its beta with races missing. I can understand having issues and concerns with combat, but there is ALOT of content worth doing and experiencing.

I would like you to read the green highlight area again and tell me, why you chose two completely contridictary statement if everything was handed on a silver plater why are poeple being forced to do dynamic events and side quest, shouldn't that also be on the platter,  I am taking people at face value, and I don't believe everyone that claims to be, is playing the game, I think there is just a lot of poison here because everyone wants "their" game to be the next top MMO,  who cares whose top play the game if you enjoy i, don't if you don't
