This could be the last time i pre ordered a game for my p.c So far the cunning game industry have conned me out of alot of money through out the years. AoC, Warhammer, Aion, SWTOR are a few which spring to mind, so if gw2 lets me down i will never pre order again Crosses fingers |

I wouldn't put so much stock in a video game man. The game is good, but I hope you thought about why you want it before you bought it. As with most games, it won't be for everyone. It's a solid, well made game, with a lot of content, but that doesn't guaruntee you will like it. I hope you bought it for the right reasons. The 'hype' that some players have been escalating isn't based in reality, and certainly not based in what Anet has actually promised. They aren't lying about what the game is offering, so listen to what's promised on paper, and not what some forums claim will happen, and you won't have any bad surprises. |

Originally posted by jimmy123 I too played all those games and more. I felt the same about those. But GW2 is different, it is fun, top quality, fun, amazing and fun. I hope you have a blast as well. :) There is so much to do! I don't know how i will spend my time in the BWE2. Anet delivers their promises, they do not inflate empty hype bubles. Just a friendly tip: While playing guild wars 2, dont rush it like any other grind game where the %99 content is built on the max level, try to play slowly listening and following npcs, watching your surroundings, exploring. The places really deserves exploration. Take it slow. Max level content starts at level 2. |

I rarely buy new MMORPGs. I tried out SWTOR even though I was skeptical, because all of my friends were going to try it, but I ended up being the first one to quit out of the group. Now I'm going to play GW2. I'm not that skeptical of this game even though none of my friends were interested in it when I first asked them if they will play it. I actually thought I was going to play it alone. Now that some of my friends currently playing SWTOR are in guilds that are made up of many 'doomsayers' planning on playing GW2, they are thinking of giving it a try. |

My last MMO preorder was... probably Founder account at LotRO. So, a while ago. That was not a disappointment, and I still log on from time to time. I was wary of GW2, but I gave it a shot. And, I must say, it was a well-spent money. The game fits me like a glove. But, to each his own. You might not like the style, pace, etc, etc. So, understand that a gamble is a gamble, and roll with it. Otherwise, never purchase anything you are not sure about. Do your homework, and then choose. We have a lot of info easily available today, no excuses not to use it. |

So you're buying another game based on hype? All you have to do to make sure if the game is for you is wait a couple of weeks to a month after launch before you buy it. Look at Diablo 3 for example, before launch noone had seen any gameplay past normal mode and noone really had a clue what endgame was like. Now there is enough information and streams out there to make a well informed decision whether the game is for you or not. Don't get me wrong, GW2 seems like a really good game but so did all the other games you bought pre-release and were later disappointed by. We've only seen what the devs want us to see of GW2 so far, the good aspects of the game. It remains to be seen if there are any not so good aspects of the game which they are trying to hide from us. Don't feed the hypemachine, don't pre-purchase is my advice. |

Originally posted by tank017 I'm thinking this myself.....Why pre-order. I'm waiting for the release, I'm not really playing nothing right now, playing around with Rysom a little and enjoying real life !
Some of us really have to look at them selfs, and their addictions. Maybe count our real life friends. |

Think of it this way. $60 would've bought you less than 2 shares of facebook stock which would now be valued at slightly more than half what you had intially invested.
Similarly, $60 toward a date would net you dinner and the chance of contracting a STD.
You did the right thing. |

Originally posted by tank017 This question, for me, is simple to answer. I "pre-ordered" with amazon knowing full damn well I wouldn't have to pay a red cent to do so. This got me a beta key, now I get to find out for myself if I like it or not and don't haveto rely on hype and images and threads full of other peoples opinions. Should I like it, lucky me..I have it reserved. Should I not...guess I just cancel up and I'm not out a thing. Some may say that's a nono for me, to take advantage of Amazon screwing up what was obviously not meant to be. I say, pffffft, if a bank errors in your favor, you argue to keep it that way. |

GW2 is one of those games which at 1st look seems strange. But the longer you play the more fun you have and suddenly 5 hours passed. Most systems simply fit each other and work giving you a good experience. I doubt you will be blown away during the forst 10 minutes but you will probably be playing for 5 hours. |

Back on topic, I think alot of mmo players are in your boat OP. I think GW2 may be the game that some of the mmo refugees will be able to call home for awhile... at least until the next best thing comes around the corner! Cheers! These drama queen threads are really stupid "OMG if GW2 doesn't work, i'll never pre-order again" "If GW2 doesn't work, i give up on mmos". Yeah, until 1 or 2 years when you start going nuts over the next one. OP, get into beta, try it out for an extented period of time. Judge for yourself. Don't listen to fanboys, haters, trolls, anything. The only opinion that matters is your own, and you only can judge it to see if it's for you. I believe you'll like the game. It's a themepark mmorpg based on the EQ model, but i it's a normal "wow clone". It's defenatly different, just by looking at some of the footage. But, don't start exaggerating. if GW2 isn't for you, maybe TERA, TSW, Archeage, Planetside 2, etc might. Look into other mmos and maybe you'll find something you didn't expect. Good luck in your beta. |

I don't get people who pre- order.. And afterwards complain (rightfully so) the game sucked. Why not wait till it is released and await feedback from players. Or even better wait for a free trial. I can understand they don't do a free trial to sucker in the early adapters (or pre-PURSCHASE!) even but if there is no free trial after two months I assume the game sucks and move on. |

Boo, well I wish you luck with this game. I: personally think all gamers should boycott any pre order that gives you access to beta events. It is a cheap/gready ploy by the mmo industry and it hurts the game more than help it. There are more gamers that would buy the game regardless in the beta and a lot of the times they will turn the blind eye to in game features that should be fixed. But it doesns't look like this type of ploy will be stopping anytime soon... |

Originally posted by Vaultar I'd like to say it too, but we can't guarantee that. OP might not have researched enough before pre-purchasing. He might find the game not suited to his taste and end up belonging to the group that bashes ANet about trivial things. |

Originally posted by jimmy123 When you pre-order a game you should already know if you will like it or not, or at least have some idea as to what the game is all about. It's silly when people start complaining about meaningless things that are very clear if you read some posts or watch some videos. Most, if not all, features in GW2 have been discussed in the past and there is lots of info available already. If you know what you want and watched some vids it should be obvious if you will like the game or not.... For example if you are looking for Open PVP everywhere you will be disappointed, but that's easy to know before trying the game. Do some research and you will find out if the game is good for you or not. Otherwise wait for a free trial Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums |
