I downloaded the 5GB patch yesterday and everything seemed to be working ok. Then I saw this thread this morning and decided to see what it's like today. Well I'm getting this error too. It started a small download and then stopped but it also brought up an error reporting window that sends the log directly to Arenanet. Considering there's two days to go before we need the program, I don't see what the big fuss is about. They obviously know about it, will be implementing a fix and that means there's nothing to worry about............well unless the error is still there on Friday afternoon of course but I highly doubt that will happen. |

Maybe they shut down the main server for a reason, the most disturbing thing its that the crash message its in Italian, i wonder why! |

I tested it after seeing this, it downloaded a new small patch (50mb or so) but didn't crash. |

I got hungup on the last 2 files as well, after 5 min I just closed it, restarted and it downloaded the rest. Client works fine. Isnt there a "file check" option somewhere? That should fix it. |

Mine worked fine yesterday but now it crashes. So I noticed there is a new version of the installer out and decided it might as well delete and reinstall it. I currently have 2mb/s download which is about what my net can take so problem solved for me at least. |

I was having the same issues with my client crashing and stuff, but I fixed my situation. Heres what I suggest... 1) Right click on the GuildWars.exe and select "PROPERTIES" 2)Look up top and find that tab that says "COMPATIBILITY" and SELECT it. 3) Look down to where it says RUN THIS FILE IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR.. and check the box there. Currently im using Windows XP (Service Pack 3) so I checked that box and my troubles went away.Give that a shot and see what happens, goodluck! |

I tired the compatiblity mode work around and it does not work for me. I also tired deleting everything but the gw2.exe and letting it redownload everything, and it crashes at 20 files remaining, and never runs again. You can tell we're still running a beta. I also cannot download the new setup.exe from their site, it downloads 15.3 megs and then times out. I've also tried two other systems. Either something is occuring with my isp or something is happening on their end. I wonder if this has anything to do with the new ipv6 range going live today...
I'm still unable to update. |

Finally got it working!!!!!!! For me it was DNS ISSUES! Was reading over at Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/un5ak/error_when_attempting_to_update/ And this worked from there for me:
