So many low pop servers now and despite being on one of the most populated servers there is, I can easily see the game has taken a HUGE population dive.. my guild used to get 60+ people online back when the game first came out at any given time, my last five logins I've been the only one there. Doom and gloom aside, where is plan B for when the game goes to hell? Bioware have mentioned server transfers in the past but in all fairness, they seem more focused on trying to add new content (none of which really sounds that appealing to me tbh). It feels as if they never had a contingency in place for when things go wrong.. probably arrogant in thinking everyone wanted a WoW clone in space but ultimately the server transfers and cross bg queues should have been implemented already. On a final note but where are our server forums? What they have in place is an absolute joke and an insult to me as a long time MMO gamer and someone who understands and appreciates the value a real community can bring to a game and specific servers. I said ages ago back at launch that the game would suffer without server forums and it'll lack a community feel but seems BW decided to ignore our pleas and it's costing them. |

BW's plan B turned out to more of a Plan 9 |

Yeah, it is amazing that you can put this much money into a game and not have a plan b in case of problems. But maybe they do use a plan b, it have happened before in SW MMOs but it didn´t turn out so great last time. If so TOR will be NGEd somewhere next year. |

Plan B for subscription-based games is always to go F2P. It may not happen this year but it's only inevitable at this point. |

I don't think ea/bioware had a plan B. They though they had the market cornered and thought folks would just get in line and wait. EA/Bioware did not have the foresight to see this coming, and I don't think they made any plans in case the game tanked. Now they are scrambling telling folks that they will get transfers if they are on certain servers, and the rest will have to pay and that will be soon. Soon is not soon enough folks have been screaming since mid February that the population was in trouble. ea/bioware just turned a blind eye to those and locked down those threads. Now that it is apparent that there is a real problem they are a way behind. I think plan B is the server transfers, plan C will be free to play if they live that long.

Originally posted by erictlewis It's actually kind of embarressing that that launch without key services being available; like being able to transfer servers or having a max levelled characters on the PTS. Heck, just the max level characters would have made sure that max level content, like Ilum, was tested. |

Server merges and massive layoffs ARE plan B. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

The layoffs weren't 'massive'. Some people from the team were let go, and some people from the DA team were moved over to the SWToR. The whole move was a much bigger deal for the future of Dragon Age. That doesn't mean that massive layoffs won't happen in the future. It's a lot more likely that there will be another restructure and people will get moved around though. That's just how corporations work. Though, to be honest, it really doesn't seem like they planned for the population to drop off at all. Compared to Trion and how they dealt with a similar situation, Bioware/EA looks dull and slow. Pray tell, where did you get your 150 out of 400? Bioware hasn't said how many people they laid off. They haven't said how many people were reassigned. It is not even known how many people are actual developers and how many were part of the 300 person support staff; call center employees. There were a total of 600 people in Austin. So...where did your numbers come from? Join the League For Gamers. |

Which one of those said 150 were laid off from a team of 400? None of them did. Furthermore, they were all either rumors or waaay unverified. We don't really know how many people got laid off. What we do know is that they were in Austin, and it wasn't the whole staff. As to the final article, assuming your numbers are correct, then EA was right in saying, "We are not laying off 500-1,000 people". Join the League For Gamers. |

Plan B was 1.2. A content that was planned for 6 months after release not 1. Also plan B was the free months. Let ppl learn their lesson (for another time)and dont mindless buy games ( i personally dont care, its your money). Out of topic: Also can someone explain me how 6.3 millions ppl bought D3? I guess its so great game, without problems, that owns every else out there and not just couse it's Blizzard's game. Well played again. Blizzard wins, next game is tetris by Blizzard spent more money! PS: I was playing WoW for 5 years and was great, so i am not a hater. Just open your mind. Gl have fun whatever you play i ll see u at the bottom. |
