Never used it and never will.

If i had one irl then it'd be a different story.

I really only use it to block spam and scammer website links, which rarely happens anymore.  I think the moderators are much more on top of that than they used to be.

Frankly, I read them anyways out of sheer amusement. Kind of hard to take things personal when we're talking message boards here. Least for me.

I mean, it doesn't hurt my feelings that the feature exists, but what is the point ? On every board I have ever visited I have seen people claiming to 'ignore' or 'block' others, only to respond to those whose posts they supposedly cannot see.

Wow, it's really sad that people need to do that on mmorpg.com.  Nothing is that important to do such things.

I definitely like using it. I only wish it functioned better. So that, for instance, you wouldn't even see threads started by those people.

Yeah I sometimes get strange fanboyic PM threats when I say something negative about GW2, but who cares?

people say negative things about my favorite MMO all the time. doesnt bother me. Only improves it really.

/ignore features are simply "i win this argument' buttons, because any serious asshattery is usually caught by a mod and removed... thusly it's only use is to gain a sense of undeserved self-satisfaction.

I never use it, but surely over a dozen people have used it on me.

I treat it like a personal flag that a given poster has a history of being obnoxious.  I find that using it this way greatly improves the signal to noise ratio.

Same here. I also use it to temporarily block out posters who are having a side argument in an otherwise interesting or constructive thread.

I just block everybody. Then click (show post) on random people to see if they have anything interesting to say.

It has more to do with avoiding wasting time having to avoid reading posts form people who only post crap anyway...  it makes the forum threads much cleaner and easier to read once the obvious trolls and the nonsense posters are removed.

It's a public place so there's no point because then it would be very quiet if you blocked all the trolls.

I don't use it, but only because in my experience, even if you block the most annoying people on a forum, you still see all of their moronic drivel quoted by people replying to them.

But then again I use mmorpg.com as a kind of marathon for improving my patience. And its working great: Im very resistant to stupidity by now.

It's not a case of 'avoiding' people really... You see their responses in quotes anyhow.

I use it as a reminder of who I consider to simply not worth getting in to it with. No one here offends me in any way, but I do consider some people socially retarded (intentionally or otherwise) and a waste of energy trying to interact with, so I block them. As the other guy before said, it's a flag, that's all.

I am sure others think the same about me, but that's how it works I guess when you put random strangers of various ages from different parts of the world, who's only common ground is the divisive subject of PC games, all posting from the safety of their homes, in the same space.

You're obviously not trying hard enough if I can still read you though Wicked ;)
