It was one of the rare things that really annoyed me about this game and I did not notice it yesterday. Is it me getting used to it or did they fix it for yesterdays stress test? Any thoughts?

Originally posted by DeniZg If you want to see floaty combat; that'd be found in something like DDO or from this weekends BWE for TSW. I dont get nearly as much of the floaty feeling. With combat having more responsiveness and deeper feel. I never really feel like I don't have control of my character.

Nope I too didnt like that from the videos, but the beauty of GW2 is that the rest of the game outshines any negative allowing you to overlook certain flaws. Day 1 of the first BWE I was like "hey wheres the sliding animations" but then when I paid attention I saw them, however the rest of the game really does have a way to make you forget about certain aspects. |

I don't notice skating running animations, however I see that sometimes shadows and silhouttes don't connect. |

This is something that made GW1 unplayable to me, but GW2 has felt infinitely better in both the BWE and the last stress test to me. That was one area where WoW undoubtedly excelled at. Your character instantly responded to your commands in every respect. Jumping, turning, twisting in mid air, leaping over terrain. Your character (or mount) felt like it made contact with the ground with every step. FFXIV actually felt very good in this respect as well, though that game unforgivably doesn't allow you to jump or interact with environment in any way. In fact, you inevitably encounter far too many short ledges that you are certain your character should be able to climb or hop down but remain utterly impassable. Nevertheless, you really felt the weight of your character in each step, especially when you tried to pivot and turn. GW2 feels satisfactory in this regard, imo. You have all the freedom of terrain jumping and environment interaction (even several jumping puzzles!), but not quite the realistic feeling of weight behind each step. GW2 also gives you almost as much control over the character as WoW. Overall it feels good and I'm happy with how movement feels. |

I really like that you start and stop most animations. When you start to run, your character actually leans back a bit to get a kick off the ground and give him/herself a little thrust. same for stopping...you actually come to a stop instead of just stopping. Your character does all the proper motions necessary for the human body to stop motion. plants both feet on the ground and comes to a stop. And it's incredibly fluid. Flowing from one animation to the next is near seamless. One thing that I thought was a bit lacking in Tera. Granted the animations themselves were very fluid...they just werent seamless and didn't connect very well. MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions. |

Originally posted by MMO_REVIEWER I agree with this. After some time at trying to see this skating I saw it. But it wasn't that bad. And GW2 made it up with variation in animations (not many games come close imo) and the way they connect eachother. WoW has nice animations but actually feels simplistic after GW2. |

I like the animations. They looks visceral enough. They only thing i don't like is the running. To much skating on air, felt like the feet didn't touch the ground, but i think that's mostly when it gets too vertical. The the actuall combat animations looked clean, even from alpha back in 2010. |

Yeah I'm not sure if this a polish issue or due to system constraints. TSW has the same issue with sliding unlike WoW, RIFT, SWTOR. Idk. |

A tiny touch my wife noticed right away, but I had no idea what she meant, when I did see it I was pretty impressed. A small touch but this game seems layered with small touches that add up to an overall quality and attention to detail that we don't get to see very often in MMOs. Here's an example at about 3:28, |

yeah, there was some sliding, I didn't have any, but my son right behind me did. IMHO, I can say it was possibly because of the lack fo GPU support in the .exe, your CPU grinding movement floating points,
or server side backlog, not as likely since we both had 38ms pings... however even if that was it, it should be cleared up next weekend with the new hardware they put in.... we shall see...
