I can has invited too. Didn't even preorder. \o/ I'll try and hoof stomp it some more to see whether it will leave a better impression this time around. I think I'll go exploring and roaming around and see how far I can travel from the cities, geography wise.

Originally posted by DarkPony Pony so, swtor left a better impression on you gw2? You even bought swtor, played it till the 50s (if im not mistaken) and THEN realized that its a wow clone, aka a gear grind, and nothing else? You couldnt have realised that during the betas? When it was obvious the only thing swtor had going for it was voice acting and the licence. But gw2 isnt better for you now than swtor was when you first played it? |

Originally posted by RodimusPrime It occured to me the otherday that all these people pre-purchasing the game makes taking the time to make the game right before release pretty easy for ANET. Afterall I imagine they already have collected a good precentage of the box sales so why rush.

Edit: yay for mods. (Not being sarcastic). My original comment is no longer necessary and I again hope that everyone who received their keys enjoy the game:). I am hoping to get a key one day too, haha. |

Based on the Subject I thought the OP was going to say "...to the Closed Beta!".... What a relief I wouldn't have to rage with unabashed jealousy on you. :) |

Originally posted by DarkPony I tired walking into a higher level zone, and lets just it did not end very well. Mobs just follow you so fast and far that the time they deagro you have to run through another mob and so on. Maybe that was only that specific area. But good luck doh^^ |

Congratulations to everyone who got a beta invite!
Be sure to post any questions that you have about the game and we (the MMORPG communtiy) will gladly help you out!
Above all else, have fun! If the game's not fun for you then stop playing. Don't force yourself to enjoy it, it'll just leave you bitter that you wasted a summer weekend playing a video game that you didn't enjoy. ;-) |

Originally posted by Batak_Killer Didn't beta Swtor. But I doubt whether it would have prevented my delusion which only really came at max level after realizing Ilum was such a badly implemented mess and endgame consisted out of doing battlegrounds and instances and standing around in a shopping mall. Before that I got some hints though, when I was out and about looking for world pvp and finding that world design, mechanics and content distribution between factions didn't stimulate that at all. (I.e. worlds apart from WOW's Southshore - Tarren Mill, to give an example). But the single player storyline bit and voice overs made the whole leveling process pretty bareable in my experience. Frequent upgrades, mounts, pretty decent combat, fun and hard open world group content (heroics), compelling crafting (up to max level at least), (some) inspiring worlds, etc, all served to really suck me in for a month. What I thought about GW2 in the first beta weekend wasn't all negative though. But Swtor did make me kind of wary about first blissful experiences. I honestly think all of us got way too little hands-on time so far to say whether this game will still be a blast after playing it for a month or more. |

Originally posted by DarkPony Thats a reasonable explanation. Like the poster above me has said, enjoy the game for what it is. Its an mmo for which you dont pay a monthly fee, so basically you cant go wrong with it. And when you look at it, it has everything swtor had, but more and done better. Combat for example, is faster and more challenging, you have a fully voiced storyline, better character progression, gear, prettier and bigger world, a MUCH better pvp than Illum, and the only thing you dont have are mounts. they can add them later... |
