Even if you have bad thought disorder..(Which every one has..You will be ok....) http://www.amazon.com/The-Imp-Mind-Exploring-Obsessive/dp/0452283078 40 years ago it took a computer teh size of a foot ball field to do what our cell phones do today. Imagine another 40 years they will have the folllowing... http://youtu.be/R-2Xw-GNkUQ You don't want little jimi in 40 years creating a black hole in his basement by just going to radioshack..So we will all need to be monitored for wmd. Kind of like skynet. There will be one Nanotech, Quantom, conscious artificial intelligence beings per 10,000 people paid for by our taxes...(Don't shoot the messenger!) If "THEY" think its a threat to national security, WMD..only.....it will be sent to a scientist for evaluation. I'm a prophet! ;) hehe (If you want to hire me as a game designer...I would work cheep. Who wouldn't want a prophet on their team? ) :P The future of gaming is going to rule! PVP! Sometimes its good to think deep. Some times it good just to play games. |

There's heaps of scifi with mental implants for internet. Good luck with that future. I'm waiting until you can buy a gene lab and make your own killer virus that attacks cells with a key marker present in your enemies, or use retro viruses to change into a 9 foot raptor. One day you'll come out of your game world and find the real world has been taken over by an army of mental implant giant ants. Maybe the real world will just be a great place to enjoy for the middle class and up and virtual alternatives are just a new age heroin. |

Lets just hope they dont turn the universe into a giant paper clip . lol
Can I at least get 1 star!? It was half full and I said that secret world will suck and you took all my stars away! 0.O Sometimes its good to think deep. Some times it good just to play games. |

I wonder how much you've really considered life with such an interface buried within your skull. Sure there are several good elements, but is it worth trading the last bastion of freedom ( the space between your ears) for? Let's consider the bad. This would be the ultimate digital distraction, a sinister mix of all the most addictive things the web has to offer now, plus whole new options since we're talking a five sense system. All just a thought away. Did you just have mind blowing sex with your ideal partner (yeah going gender neutral here) on the suspiciously terraformed moon, or did you leave a happy mess in your pants as you crashed your car into a tree- with this technology in play it's probably both. How many people will starve to death, all the while feeling satisfied by incredible virtual foods. Even if we can counter those issues, would you really want to live in such a world? When every experience and pleasure is just sitting there for the taking (there's an app for that), you remove virtually all (ha ha) the motivation to actually do anything. As it is now, we are slowly lossing our ability to remember stuff, and that's just with our primative tools like Google. <deep breath> Sorry but if it does come to be, you're dragging me kicking and screaming into that dystopia. |

No, if the government tried to plug stuff into my head to monitor my thoughts me and the majority of people would get very very violent about it.
aside from that a single human cell is more complex than the most advanced machine any human has made (or group) even a simple ameoba is probably more complex. they are like factory megacity's filled with maintnance robotics and i could go on and on adding to the complexity but ill stop there. so i dont think were going to get very far nanotech wise (at least with interacting with the brain, imagining things is all well and good but this is very unlikely). makes me laugh at evolution lol imagine a tornado going thru a junkyard and putting together a fully functional boeing 747 (or a digital watch) and those things probably arent even as complicated as the simplest cell lmfao.
especialy considering the way the scientific community works, lots of politics (always has been) and refusing to believe things like say that light has a speed limit (took 70 years after the first experiment proved it for it to become accepted) or the gradual slowing of the speed of like (only being accepted within the past 3 or four years).
all in all the human race as a whole doesnt inspire me with very much hope >.> sry for raining on your parade and such the virtual reality stuff would be pretty cool tho if it ends up being possible. (at least VR lenses should be attainable) |

These ideas aren't new, Japan Animation have tackled this idea for years, with .hack, and now Accel World, and Sword Art Online. These are what we are moving toward. With the ability to access Internet within our minds, as well as the ability to access information quickly and easily. The world will adapt. With the introduction of Ipad, the world said there was no need, we have laptops, we have Cell phones with the same features, but guess what, we found a need. Lets go all the way back, back to the days before computers, even before Cars, it was a need that we didn't know we need. We always have legs to take us from place to place, then comes horses, then bicycles, then tricycles, then cars and motorcycles. Then we got planes, jets , boats and cruisers. As long as we keep inventing, we will discover the need for them and we will adapt. Nothing is ever truly safe, we got airplanes crushes, train wrecks, car accidents, computer crushes, computer viruses. Credit card information being hacked, identity getting stolen. Knifes are good to cut food apart, use to slice bread, but it can also be used to kill. Guns are good to protect, but it can also be used to kill. Wooden boards with a nail on them can be used to build houses, but it can also become a weapon. As technology advances, we also advances as an civilization, its what we do with the technology that defines us, not what the technology allows that defines us. Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it. |
