I have enjoyed my time testing TSW over the last few weekends.. did not have much time over the last one but still had fun..
Quests are pretty good and refreshing, story was pretty good from what we got to see, graphics are awesome, combat system works just as well as any other tab target game... I think my only little let down was some of the combat animations but its not the end of the world.. |

I think this game will appeal to adults (18+) simply because most of us have played 1000 games with almost the same levelling and class system. My first one was pokemon on gameboy. Never played anything with this skill and fighting-system before.
For 8-14 year old children I can understand that it's still fun to boom up to max-level as fast as possible, but for mature people it's more about the gaming experience and setting. Mature people will also understand faster the mathemathics behind the fighting system than children, and thereby much of the joy is gone. I haven't played PvP in TSW, but from what I belive now, this is going to be much more complicated and more tactical than anything I've tried.
My expectations are sky-high!! Looking forward to release :)

I agree that this game is totally geared towards adults and I love it.
I think we will see a relatively smallish but devoted fanbase to this game. It's certainly not for everyone. Im going to go ahead and predict thatthis game is going to have a better community than most. It may take a little while, but I think we will see a strong community here. Funcom has always made their games for adults. AO had nipples and fowl language...so did AoC only to an extreme. It didnt help those games much either. I really wish a company that knew how to actually make decent games would do it instead of just Failcom. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

Originally posted by jtcgs you realise ofc it is a double bluff, its not really aimed at adults at all, its aimed at children with an enticing 'adult theme' i.e do adults really care about nipples... rpg/mmorg history: Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (9500 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(350 elementalist) Now playing GW2/Diablo 3/Rift Waiting Archeage. |

Originally posted by Bladestrom Both games had adult ratings...so yeah...game makers dont want a rating like that unless they dont care if a store is actually going to enforce it and lose a sale to a kid. As for nipples...yeah, a lot of adult gamers loved it. “I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson |

I hope the game does bold well, I won't jump into it right away, sadly Funcom has a bad past of showing us a great start but horrible mid and end game. This time, I will wait for the game to be finished first. I laugh thinking about this really, my first thought was "meh, well ok I can check it out a year after release", that sadly has been my stance with funcom sense the last game release. So I mean, don't take me wrong, they come up with the best concept I have seen in MMO's, but man there is an issue with the team always following threw to the end. It's like they are all hyped to work on it and half way threw, get burnt and just don't care anymore. I am a coder myself so I get it, but it's not like the do what most of us do, take a break then go back at it with a fresh thought in our heads. If they did, maybe most of their titles wouldn't end up being so horrible at launch. Sorry for my rant, I really want to like this one, but it's funcom, I just can't get over that for now. Want to design your own coasters, flat rides and more? Always wanted that dream Theme Park? Look no further! |

Originally posted by sfc1971 You made me laugh. We get it, you know a bit about classical music...thats one small example of the thinking or research required to be successful in this game. As far as button mashing...how far did you get in the game? And have you ever played WoW? Honestly, your statements are laughable at best. |

I see people confusing the OP's point about the adult appeal of the game.
Its not the nipples or whatever that make this game appealing to adults. It's the subject matter. It's the atmosphere and setting. It's the complex skill system and the difficult puzzle quests. The game is more cerebral. The story is a big factor in this a well. Are there Realy a lot of young kids who know what the hollow earth theory is? Do they understand who the Templars and Illuminati really were? There are plenty of other examples. I don't think it's a bad thing to have kids play the same game's as us, to be clear, I just don't see TSW as a compelling sell to the younger audience, and it certainly isn't because of nipples or gore.
