I did just that. I refused to buy a game that required a permamently on internet connection when I just wanted to play it as a single player game. Lots of other people disagreed and went ahead and bought it anyway and lots of others like the multi-player aspect of it. That's their choice. I'm not criticising them, I'm saving my expletives for Blizzard...not that they care, they made plenty of money.

Sorry, but what is the OP talking about?

EU maintenance even finished earlier than expected. I just logged in without problems.

PS. I can understand US maintenance to start around 3AM their local time, which means Blizzard still has almost 6 hours of time left, if they started at 3AM EST.

i also respect you for not buying it......altough i didnt agree with the internet requirement for the game i did buy it ( been a blizz fan for years......the only one of their games i wont touch anymore is wow).

I love D3....the story aint bad and the bosses are looking very cool (altough they are a bit easy tough, but hey the elites are tough as hell so i dont mind).

If I buy a cake I want to eat cake not be offered a bunch of excuses why the baker can't deliver the cake. Actually they don't bother with 'excuses' if the baker says 'sorry the oven is broken' you are likely to be forgiving than if the shop just has a closed sign on the door.

These complaints are not 'silly' people paid for a service and they are not getting it. Lets not even start on other technical issues (like the large number of people having problems running the game because of how it loads assets from disc).

It is not silly, at all, for a customer to complain that he is not getting the service he paid for and your analogy is bad. It is more like a customer ordering, and paying, a cake and not getting it because the baker's oven keeps breaking. Which means that either the baker does not know how to properly use the oven or the oven is not dimensioned for the high demans.

In Diablo's case I believe the latter one is closer to the truth.

But this again shows that not providing an offline mode for a game which can be played single player is a bad idea. Atleast from the customer's point of view.

Stop using metaphors, you don't know how to use them properly.

Blizzard are shooting themselves in the foot big-time, maybe this will "all be forgotten in the fullness of time" but I doubt it, but the one good thing is it might help put off other companies if this does damage Blizzard somehow, & I believe it should.

People that supported such a system for single player gaming deserve it.

SO what the servers are down....It is a single player game no?

I think you missed the point. Another words it's easy to be the one on the outside looking in. As far as the online feature, it's not like they didn't announce it before preorders went live. They also didn't force you to pay for it. There is always a risk buying software and it having issues whether it be client or server side. It's not like they won't fix the issue.

True that.  If only the gaming 'world' could effectively boycott just one of these 'online all the time' games!?  Perhaps THEN the developers would trash the model...because it is a model designed to protect the developer and is NOT in any way beneficial to us the consumers.

Blizz always brings top games, no matter how many haters there are, you still are blizzwhores just like the rest of us :p

 

You can "bet" whatever you'd like, but it doesn't make it fact.  I never bought it and never will.  Why would I want to play a clickfest through a tiny area over and over and over again anyhow?

Blizzard hasn't made a good game since Starcraft imo.  Throwing money at something doesn't make a good game and that seems to be all they do nowadays.

I didn't had to spam at all, as the 8 hour maintenance in EU was finished before the 8 hours were up.

I was able to login before 11AM again.

EDIT: Until now.... seems login servers are overloaded again during EU primetime!  lol! what a joke!
